The Legend of Zelda is a popular franchise that’s been around for over 25 years.  The game has always been a favorite with its complex dungeons, engaging boss battles, and lovable story, but recent news tells us that it’s all about to change.

Director Eiji Aonuma promises fans that the upcoming Wii U Zelda and A Link To The Past 2 will challenge the typical conventions found in the previous games and surprise gamers with new “unexpected elements.”  In an earlier statement he said,

“We want to set aside these conventions, get back to basics and create a newborn Zelda so that the players can best enjoy the real essence of the franchise.”

So what changes can we expect to be made?

While nothing is official, a couple of the conventions that Aonuma expresses in redesigning may change the way we play Zelda for future games to come.  We may see dungeons that will no longer contain a linear completion structure, and possibly a change in the idea that the game will not be played alone.  If these changes are implemented in the new game, it would definitely be a big change for the Zelda series.

What are your thoughts on these new changes?
