Starting off the new year with a game set back in 1933. Stubbs The Zombie was released in November of 2005 for Xbox and October for Windows and Mac OS X of the same year. Stubbs was made with the Halo Engine and was Wideload Games first game. This single player shooter had a beautifully designed soundtrack to match the 1933 world the developer had created.
While playing through Stubbs you gain new abilities. These abilities range from using your bladder as a grenade to using your detachable hand to posses NPCs. The gameplay is a third person aspect and makes maneuvering around the world easy.
Stubbs was well received in America, but did not do so well in Europe. There was some controversy pertaining to the cannibalism in the game. Despite the poor ratings in Europe and cannibalism it seems that Stubbs holds up to the test of time and is still a great game.
Although there were zombie video games made before and after this it seems that this one in particular held a special spot in gamer’s hearts. The fact that you are playing as the zombie was magnificent. This was a great hit on the original Xbox and I cherish the fact that I was able to play this while growing up.
