The new Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag commercial features the main character of the game, Captain Edward Kenway. Edward is a pirate trained by Assassins who is rising up to become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean. His adventurous story is told through his elaborate and unforgettable tattoos. Edward is arguably the darkest and most severe Assassin’s Creed main character so far in the series. Ezio was never as rowdy and hotheaded as Edward appears in this commercial.
Between this new television advertising spot and the old ones we know a lot about the story and events of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. We know from the Pirate Heist Trailer that you will meet other scurvy dogs looking for treasure including Charles Vane, Calico Jack, and Anne Bonny. The Infamous Pirate trailer told players that they will definitely be able to fight Blackbeard himself on the high sea.
The only question about this game is that there isn’t a lot of talk about the actual Creed. Ubisoft hasn’t been discussing Edward’s mission beyond glory and riches, which worries some classic Assassin’s Creed fan, but hopefully the Animus and the science fiction aspects of the game will join the action and stealth that has been confirmed. Gun toting and ship battles are great, but not even today’s Tattoo Commercial referenced cyberspace.
