Space Snake Tips Guide – How to Slither Your Way to the Top

Amp up your hand-eye coordination with these tips for lasting longer in Space Snake.

Space Snake is a mobile game from Ketchapp that challenges you to continuously move through levels chasing orbs called pieces and avoiding obstacles called blocks. While the premise sounds simple, surviving the turbulent waves of neon obstacles and the ever-changing landscape is much tougher than it looks. After putting in a few hours of frustrating yet incredibly addictive game time, we’ve put together these tips to help you reach that high score in Space Snake you’ve always wanted.

Tip 1: Use your head

Placing your finger on any part of the snake will move it in the direction you choose, but moving the snake from its head gives you more time to react. Having more time to respond will help keep your movements smoother and more accurate since you’ll be less likely to wildly dodge each obstacle as it comes up.

Tip 2: Stay ahead of the game

Upcoming pieces can help you predict where blocks and openings will appear. Whenever there’s a piece occupying a space, you can know with certainty that this a safe opening. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t proceed with caution since it’s not uncommon for a block to appear right behind it, so always stay on your toes!

Tip 3: Move with purpose

Keep your movements short and quick. It helps to return to the center of the screen when you can and to remain as controlled with your movements as possible. This is one of those tips that’s easier said than done, especially when obstacles are popping up quicker than you can avoid them, but keeping your cool is a tactic that will definitely help you get that high score.

Tip 4: Uncover patterns and techniques

If you look closely, you’ll notice that the levels in Space Snake tend to use many of the same patterns and techniques to trick you. For example, a common tactic you’ll find uses three blocks with spaces in between them. One of the blocks will move from side to side to try and catch your snake as you pass through. If you memorize how these blocks move and the right ways to respond to them, you’ll be able to avoid making the same mistakes and last longer.

Tip 5: Find your winning Snake

If you take a look at the bottom of the menu of Space Snake, you’ll see a gift box and a play button next to a gem. Pressing here lets you watch ads in exchange for gems that you can use to unlock different snakes. Granted, anything that involves watching ads can be a little annoying, but at the very least, you won’t have to spend your hard-earned money. You might find that changing the shape and color of the snake can positively impact your gameplay. I know it did for me!

Hopefully, these Snake Pass tips help you get to the top of the scoreboard. If you have any suggestions to add to this guide, let us know in the comments, and we’ll be sure to add them in. For more on addictive mobile games, check these articles out.

Born in 89 and raised through the weird 90s, I got to experience what I consider to be the golden age of video games. At an early age, I was shooting down ducks in Duck Hunt and saving camp counselors from Jason's wrath in Friday the 13th. As an only child from strict woman dominated Puerto Rican household, my main source of entertainment outside of school became my PlayStation. That soon turned into my Nintendo 64, Gameboy Color, and PlayStation 2. I was a nerd in every sense of the word. When I wasn't pulling all-nighters trying to beat the latest Final Fantasy JRPG, I was watching WWF Wrestling and organizing my sweet Pokemon card deck.
