No one can blame you for wanting some sweet, sweet Vegito in your Dokkan Battle lineup; the grind is worth it. Vegito's UR and LR are kind of insane and fit amazingly on any team needing some STR in its ranks.

You need Potara Medals in order to Dokkan Awaken Determined Fusion Vegito up to UR Engraved Strength Vegito and later LR Super Saiyan God SS Vegito. As you might expect, the climb to both LR and UR Vegito is a long one! But it's well-worth the effort, whether you're a fan of the fusion or just want a viable Super STR.

Considering the strength of UR and LR Vegito, it's no surprise Potara Medals are a pain to get; and, in fact, grinding them out is a task best left to near or at-endgame players.

There are only two ways to get Potara Medals in Dokkan Battle:

  1. Limited Baba's Treasures shops
  2. Select Supreme Kai's Trials

If it's your lucky day and there are Potara Medals in Baba's Treasures, 10 Potara Medals will cost you 70 Incredible Gems. A small price compared to some of Baba's other offerings, but still an investment.

Supreme Kai's Trials starting in Area 10 will star offering Potara Medals as rewards, provided you clear the stages with their conditions. You should be able to find the Supreme Kai Trials button at the bottom of the screen of the Missions tab.

The wonderful Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle wiki has a full list of stages you can clear this way for Potara Medals, which I highly recommend if you're just starting your grind towards these. However, let's go over how many you can obtain in each area so you have some sort of idea of how many you're going to get:

  • Area 10: 4 Potara Medals
  • Area 11: 4 Potara Medals
  • Area 12: 4 Potara Medals
  • Area 13: 4 Potara Medals
  • Area 14: 4 Potara Medals
  • Area 15: 1 Potara Medal
  • Area 16: 6 Potara Medals
  • Area 17: 6 Potara Medals
  • Area 18: 6 Potara Medals
  • Area 19: 6 Potara Medals
  • Area 20: 6 Potara Medals
  • Area 21: 1 Potara Medal
  • Area 22: 9 Potara Medals
  • Area 23: 9 Potara Medals
  • Area 24: 9 Potara Medals
  • Area 25: 9 Potara Medals
  • Area 26: 9 Potara Medals
  • Area 27: 3 Potara Medals

This makes for a total of 100 Potara Medals, which happens to be the exact amount you need.

Getting SSR Determined Fusion Vegito up to UR Engraved Strength Vegito requires 30 Potara Medals.

Getting UR Engraved Strength Vegito up to LR Super Saiyan God SS Vegito requires 70 Potara Medals.

Buying the medals from Baba's Treasures will significantly cut down on your grinding time to get these, but if you're a hardcore Dokkan fan, then the effort is more than worth it.

Good luck with your grinding! Don't mind me as I cha-la head cha-la my way out of here.

5. Tower of Saviors (Android and iOS)

\n

Another puzzle RPG that followed in the footsteps of Puzzle & Dragons, Tower of Saviors is also a game where players must match three or more of the same color to get combos. But what makes this game great and unique are the monster designs. They feel "ancient." In other words, they look like they were ripped out from some fairy tale and put into this game. The background music is phenomenal as well. It's so distinct and different, that it's almost memorable.

\n

Another aspect that separates this game are the monster skills. They are completely different from those from Puzzle & Dragons. For example, there is a skill that erases all fire orbs on the current board, and then deals damage to enemies based on the amount erased. Puzzle & Dragons is yet to incorporate such a skill.

4. Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle (Android and iOS)

\n

There is a puzzle RPG based on Dragon Ball Z? Sure is! This mobile app allows you to once again construct a team of your most favorite characters from the series. And the gameplay is fun too! Players need to match Ki of the same color by dragging a path to the enemy. However, the color needs to correspond to the color of your character for maximum effectiveness!

\n

The game is a bit tricky to master, but eventually will prove to be fun, unique, and challenging for any player.

3. Monster Strike (Android and iOS)

\n

All you have to do is pull and release. Think of playing billiards. Choose a monster that is on your team, and pull it as hard (if you need to) as you need, then release. It will bounce around the battle area. If it comes in contact with an enemy, it will damage that enemy depending on momentum. If however, your monster touches an ally, then the monster that was touched will activate a certain skill.

\n

It's basically a fun physics game. I myself have tried this puzzle RPG, and it's pretty darn awesome.

2. Terra Battle (Android and iOS)

\n

This puzzle RPG looks to be one of a kind! From the looks of the trailer, it looks like players need to align their monster cards with one another in order to flank enemies, and activate certain skills. It kind of reminds me of Tetris. The puzzle aspect revolves around coordinating your movement (since there is a timer) by moving your piece to the perfect position.

\n

On a side note, I personally like how there is a download counter that displays what awaits players for every milestone reached. It sort of sets a goal and encourages people to try the game out. But to be fair, the trailer is from 2014, so it's safe to say that certain milestones have already been reached.

1. Legendary: Game of Heroes (Android and iOS)

\n

This mobile app looks very similar to Puzzle & Dragons. Match three or more of the same color to clear a combo, and deal corresponding damage to your opponent.

\n

However, one thing that stands out are the character designs. They look fairly interesting simply because of how unique each one is designed. Another interesting feature that this game has unlike Puzzle & Dragons is the ability to join guilds. As seen in the trailer, players can join guilds, make friends, and embark on adventures together.

Mobile gaming has come a long way

For Hardcore Fighting Game Fans

\n
Injustice: Gods Among Us
\n

Warner Bros. teams up with DC to bring us their giant roster of superheroes into a fighting game...for mobile? With the news of Injustice 2 flying around lately, the predecessor's mobile version takes a very different approach to the series -- and surprisingly enough it works.

\n

The mobile version of Injustice: Gods Among Us is technically a collectible card game where the player builds a roster of heroes/antiheroes/villains and fights another team in 3-on-3 action. Instead of traditional fighting game controls, moves are executed with a series of taps and swipes.

\n

With cross-platform multiplayer so iOS and Android players can fight, a huge roster to collect, and levels/gear to customize the characters, Injustice: Gods Among Us sits right up there with Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle in terms of strategy, even if the core gameplay is different.

For Hardcore Action RPG Fans

\n
Crashlands
\n

Crashlands is a silly game. But silly doesn't mean not hardcore. I mean, just listen to that announcer in the trailer:

\n

\n

In Crashlands, players murder evil critters, collect items, craft things, make epic weapons and armor, and can even build their own homes! It's controls are similar to Diablo, as you click where you want to go/what you want to murder.

\n

The best part about Crashlands is the fact that it's cross-platform. Play at home on your PC, save, go to work, play it on your phone when you should be doing something else. (Don't tell them we told you to do that though). Is it cheating that literally the same game and same instance can be played on both PC and mobile? Hopefully not, because they play exactly the same, so it's hard to say which is superior.

\n

Like always, it's available on Android and iOS, and the PC version is available on Steam and GOG!

For Hardcore Turn-Based Strategy Fans

\n
Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle
\n

This one came as a surprise. Not because it's Dragon Ball Z, but because it looks like a simple match-the-tiles game. But don't be fooled, Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle is a very complex mobile game. There's far more strategy to it than "match the blue orbs with blue characters".

\n

There's a map to traverse across with tiles that do different things, kind of like a board game. Then there are battles where the player must find what orbs will do the most damage with any of the characters, play the orbs in order, and then take the enemy's color type into consideration as well, as certain colors are weaker or stronger against others. (It's a bit like Pokemon types.)

\n

Collecting different characters and items and training your party are all part of the strategy as well. While the actual battles are simple to execute, mastering them takes actual strategy -- something absolutely not apparent at first glance.

\n

Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle snuck its way to the top of this genre with the beneath-the-surface depth it hides. It's available on both Android and iOS and is guaranteed to get many hours out of fans of strategy.

For Hardcore Puzzler Fans

\n
Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery
\n

This game is trippy. While it is available on Steam as well, but it was built to be a mobile game. It's on both Android and iOS and plays mostly like a point and click adventure. (Or should we call it a poke and prod adventure because of the touchscreen?) Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery is about a warrior girl trying to complete a task set upon her by a higher being.

\n

When I say "this game is trippy", I mean it feels like an audio and visual-induced fever dream. It looks a bit like a Super Nintendo game, but it's got a bunch of strange particle effects and music that is guaranteed to send players into a trance. Jim Guthrie, an experimental musician from Canada, did the soundtrack, which really brings the game to life. It should most definitely be played with headphones and the sound cranked up.

\n

Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery was chosen because it requires you to think. The music itself may caress the ear tenderly, but the puzzle solving grabs the player's attention by the horns.

"},{"image":"http://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/c_limit,e_sharpen:150,f_auto,fl_lossy,h_360,q_80,w_640/v1/gameskinnyc/t/e/l/tell-879de.jpg","thumb":"http://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/c_limit,e_sharpen:150,f_auto,fl_lossy,h_85,q_80,w_97/v1/gameskinnyc/t/e/l/tell-879de.jpg","type":"slide","id":"135416","description":"

For Hardcore Story-based/Narrative Fans

\n
Any Mobile Telltale Game
\n

This may seem like a cheap answer, but Telltale makes good story-based games, and picking one just doesn't prove that point enough.  Most of their big name titles are on both Android and iOS, but not all of them.

\n

The Walking Dead, Minecraft: Story Mode, and Game of Thrones come to mind immediately as games that Telltale knocked out of the park, and their mobile versions are the same games, one-to-one, with better controls for touch screen. Often times, games that are one-to-one from a home device to mobile are clunky and feel like they're not made for a smartphone. Telltale makes sure that isn't the case with their ports.

\n

If that wasn't enough to herald them as the best story-based games to play on mobile, then maybe the tradition of Telltale making the first episode of a completed series completely free to serve as a demo will convince a point-and-click adventurers to check out one of the many series they've got.

"},{"image":"http://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/c_limit,e_sharpen:150,f_auto,fl_lossy,h_360,q_80,w_640/v1/gameskinnyc/4/1/7/417712-spaceteam-d5f5d.jpg","thumb":"http://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/c_limit,e_sharpen:150,f_auto,fl_lossy,h_85,q_80,w_97/v1/gameskinnyc/4/1/7/417712-spaceteam-d5f5d.jpg","type":"slide","id":"134587","description":"

For Hardcore Party Game Fans

\n
Spaceteam
\n

Some may read the description of Spaceteam and wonder how it's "hardcore". Well, even hardcore gamers have friends that come over on occasion, and Spaceteam is a great pick-up-and-play party game that takes a bit more than just rapid tapping on the screen to win.

\n

Spaceteam is a hilarious and absolutely fun multiplayer game. All you need is a few friends, Android or iOS smartphones or tablets, and a place where you can be loud.

\n

Once the game boots up and everyone gets in, instructions start reading out on one of your party member's screens. They must read these instructions out loud. For example: "Set phasers to stun!" Only one person has the phaser dial on their screen, so the person who has it must do as they're told with a dial/switch/button/etc. and let everyone know they're doing it. This gets very hectic when the time bar proceeds to drain faster and faster with each instruction.

\n

It may be a mobile game, but it's also very much an in-person party game and definitely worth a try at a get-together now that it's cross-platform. It was chosen for this list for its requirement of teamwork. It also has a humor to it that takes a certain amount of pop culture knowledge to appreciate.

"},{"image":"http://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/c_limit,e_sharpen:150,f_auto,fl_lossy,h_360,q_80,w_640/v1/gameskinnyc/4/6/3/463771-star-realms-06493.jpg","thumb":"http://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/c_limit,e_sharpen:150,f_auto,fl_lossy,h_85,q_80,w_97/v1/gameskinnyc/4/6/3/463771-star-realms-06493.jpg","type":"slide","id":"134582","description":"

For Hardcore Deck Building Fans

\n
Star Realms
\n

Originally a physical card deck-building game, Star Realms lends itself to the mobile market pretty easily. The font is ever-so-slightly hard to read, but the cards actually represent the real-life cards accurately. The Star Realms card game is a bunch of fun, so it only makes sense that the mobile game be fun as well -- especially with an easy-to-use multiplayer mode. The art on the cards is also really interesting, and it's available on Android and iOS. To top it all off, the game is also cross-platform -- so you can face your Android friend with your iPhone!

\n

Star Realms was an easy choice for this list. It takes strategy and forethought to play. It's also a competitive game, lending to many gamers' competitive nature.

\n

However, according to many of our writers and editors, Animation Throwdown is equally as worthy of this genre's crown.

For Harcore Survival Fans

\n
Don't Starve Pocket Edition
\n

Don't Starve is from the lovely developers over at Klei Entertainment. It's a survival game -- not a builder game, not a tower defense game, just a survival game. Players start off as Wilson, the inventor, who has been plopped down in the middle of the wilderness. His objective? Don't starve.

\n

Don't Starve Pocket Edition is the same premise: survive the wilderness, eat food, collect things, create inventions to make the previous tasks easier, and find your way out of the wilderness. But this time...it's on an Android or iOS phone. It also doesn't have the newest DLCs like the rest of the versions, but it's still relatively new and functions nearly identically to its home-bound counterparts.

\n

The art style is very reminiscent of Tim Burton, and the game is actually quite difficult, making the evocation of Tim Burton almost ironic in a way. It's another type of game where dying is just part of the process. Inventions discovered throughout a previous attempt to not starve will carry over to the next run, all that's needed is its ingredients. So this game is very susceptible to a mobile-friendly "just one more try" addiction.

Minecraft Pocket Edition
\n

Yes, we started this list with Minecraft Pocket Edition. Everyone knows it exists, and many Minecraft purists probably think it's not as great as the PC version. But we're talking about quality mobile games.

\n

Imagine we're in a parallel universe where Minecraft is only available on Android and iOS devices. This game is actually pretty feature packed for a mobile game! It would be a disservice not to take this game for its own merits apart from its PC big brother.

\n

Minecraft Pocket Edition was picked because not only is it a classic example of a real building/survival game on a smartphone, but it also takes concentration, mastery, and knowledge of Minecraft to play.

In the last few years, mobile gaming has exploded. From crazes like Angry Birds and Clash of Clans to fully realized RPGs like Bastion and Fallout Shelter, mobile games have come a long way.

\n

But what really brought mobile into the spotlight was Pokemon Go. It was a fun mobile game that did something really different for the Pokemon franchise and the mobile market as a whole.

\n

Pokemon Go proved to us that good, fun games can in fact be made on smart phones -- and not just boring connect-four and tapping games. Real, challenging games have been given the chance to shine on mobile and show that it's not just a realm for the casual gamer.

\n

But Pokemon Go has gotten a little played out, and gamer are looking for a new mobile adventure. So we've put together a list of games for real, hardcore gamers. Whatever your genre of preference is, we've found great mobile games for you to play on Android and iPhone. All the titles ahead are ones that real gamers would actually enjoy. Enough with the casual games, give us a challenge!

If you're new to Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, Link Skills can either seem useless or too hard even bother with since they require at least two specific characters are next to each other in battle. But this couldn't be further from the truth! Link Skills are valuable assets to a team, especially as you progress.

\n

So what are Link Skills?

\n

In a nutshell, they provide stat bonuses based on which characters are next to one another in a turn. Every character has at least one Link Skill, and some have several. You have to pay attention to them if you want to optimize your team.

\n

Here's a very simple example of Link Skills in action:

\n

Let's say you have a Trunks (Teen) Hawk Eyes, which has the following Link Skills:

\n
    \n
  • Cold Judgement (+300 ATK)
  • \n
  • Messenger from the Future (+500 ATK)
  • \n
  • The Vegeta Family (+1 Ki)
  • \n
\n

You want to have Trunks next to someone else with at least one of those Link Skills when possible in battle. Every Trunks card has all three these Link Skills, meaning if you have one Trunks card next to another, it will proc all three Link Skills. If you have one of the many Vegeta cards next to him on a turn (they all have The Vegeta Family), it will only proc the skill they have in common.

\n

It's important to remember you can move characters around mid-battle, which is a big part of making the most of your Link Skills. My good friend Synzer has written a guide covering turn positioning that's worth a read if you're in the dark on how characters rotate per turn.

\n

This guide is separated into three separate slides, with this one (the first slide) covering which Link Skills are currently in the game and what they do.

\n

Slides two and three cover the Link Skill-sorted character list. All of the game's current Link Skills are organized in alphabetical order, with lists of which characters have them so you have an easier time planning. Slide two covers letters A through M of the alphabet, while slide three covers N through Z.

\n

All of the information used here was gathered from the Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle subreddit Character Encyclopedia, then manually typed out and sorted here. I will be updating with each patch as DBZ:DB is one of the regular mobile games I play. Be sure to check out the subreddit if you want to get help team building,

Did anyone not expect a free to play mobile Dragon Ball Z game not to do amazingly well? Dragon Ball prints money, and it's apparent this trend is continuing with the series' first official mobile game entry. The English version of Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle has already reached 6 million downloads in just over a month.

Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle reached the 15 million downloads mark in Japan even before its international release on July 17th. The international download numbers have reached just over a third of the Japanese numbers, and in a mere 32 days. That's no joke.

While most gamers will take a look at its simplistic gameplay and turn up their nose, Dokkan Battle is a feast for Dragon Ball Z fans. Characters from all of the series' arcs can be both obtained and fought against. The battles themselves are packed with action art stills and animations to get the player pumped. This Japanese trailer illustrates this far better than I can explain it:

If you're into Dragon Ball Z and are in need of a new mobile RPG, Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle may be worth a shot. You can grab it now on both Google Play and the App Store.

Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle guide: positioning in combat https://www.gameskinny.com/9dk87/dragon-ball-z-dokkan-battle-guide-positioning-in-combat https://www.gameskinny.com/9dk87/dragon-ball-z-dokkan-battle-guide-positioning-in-combat Fri, 21 Aug 2015 05:38:08 -0400 Synzer

Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle has a complex battle and team system. Every character has a type, skills, stats, and can link with other characters. Positioning in combat is very important if you want to keep two characters together on a turn or defend against an attack.

This concept is a little hard to understand at first, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes pretty simple. I hope to make how positioning and rotation in combat works, easy to understand. If you'd like to see my ranking of the best characters in Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle, please visit my Best Characters guide.

This guide will go over positioning your characters in battle including:

  • Rotation in Battle - Explanation of how characters rotate so you can understand positioning better.
  • Positioning in Battle - How to position characters so that you keep characters together, or get the ones you want on certain turns.

Rotation in Battle

Your team in Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle consists of 6 of your own characters and 1 friend or guest character to make 7. Each turn you use 3 characters since these don't divide evenly, you will not always have the same characters next to each other when they come up.

When you enter a board, your characters' position will be random, but they will stay that way if you don't change their positions. The first turn starts at the top right of the dial and uses those 3 characters. Each turn will choose the next 3 characters going clockwise.

dragon ball z dokkan battle rotation

So without changing anything the rotation goes like this:

  • Turn 1 - Characters 1, 2, 3
  • Turn 2 - 4, 5, 6
  • Turn 3 - 7, 1, and 2
  • ... and so on going in numerical order.

You can change this order by changing the position of your characters before you attack.

Positioning in Battle

Before I begin I'll give you a simple rule to remember if you have a hard time getting all this down:

The characters in the first 2 slots (from left to right) come back every 2 turns and the 3rd character comes back every 3 turns.

So, if you want to keep two characters together, or just want a character to come back in 2 turns, put them in the first two positions.

To change a character's position, simply drag their icon either left or right. If you change the position of a character in the 3rd slot, they will come back sooner and the character that goes into the 3rd slot will come back later.

Let's say you want to keep characters 2 and 3 together. On the first turn, make sure they are in the first 2 slots and make sure character 1 is in the 3rd slot. Now the rotation will be: Turn 1 - 2,3,1. Turn 2 - 4,5,6. Turn 3 - 7,2,3. Turn 4 - 1,4,5. Notice how 2 and 3 stayed together? When they come around again, just do the same thing and keep them in the first 2 slots. If you do this, instead of the next turn being 6,7,2, it will be 6,2,3.

The rotation just goes in order and will never change, you decide what that order is, though. Keep in mind, changing one group affects everyone.

Getting ready for a boss

It is important to note that your rotation does not reset after a battle. The next battle will pick up on the next turn. For example: If you ended the battle on 1,2,3, without any changes, the next battle starts at 4,5,6.

You can use this to your advantage when getting ready to fight a boss. If you need to reposition your characters and get to a certain turn, try fighting normal enemies on the board until you get where you want.

I hope I have made this easier to understand Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle. I know it sounds complicated, but just test what I have explained here and you'll see it is actually pretty simple. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle has a lot of characters and they are sorted into different rarities. For the most part, the higher the rarity, the stronger the character. Characters  have health, attack, and defense stats. They also have leader, passive, and link skills, so a lot goes into choosing the best character.

I'm going to list the top 5 best characters and sort the top characters into best offensive and best defensive. I'll also rate the Super Super Rare (SSR) characters now available so you can get a good idea which characters to look out for.

This guide will go over the best characters in Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle including:

  • Top 5 SSR Characters - Info on each characters and why they are the best.
  • Best Offensive Characters - Characters rated by their attack stat and skills.
  • Best Defensive Characters - Characters rated by their defense stat and skills.
  • SSR Characters - All the SSR characters, rated from best to worst.

Top 5 SSR Characters

1. Super Saiyan 2 Goku - Fruits of Training

This character has high overall stats and his passive gives 3 ki when at 99% health or lower. This allows him to do over 100% damage pretty much all the time. His link skills, particular Kamehameha, help him deal a lot of damage.

2. Frieza (Final Form) - Horror from Hell

Frieza has a very high hp stat and the highest attack stat because of his passive skill. His link skills are good, but less likely if you are putting mostly saiyans in your team. His leader skill also increases both hp and attack so he's a good choice for a leader as well.

3. Super Saiyan Bardock - The First Awakened

This character's passive and leader skills are great for helping the team. As long as you stay above 50% hp, everyone gets 15% more attack. His leader skill also increases attack of all types, so he's a good leader choice if you have a diverse team.

4. Super Saiyan Goku - Convulsing Rage

His passive is what makes him so good because it adds 50% attack when you get 5 or more ki. If he is not able to get 5 ki, his damage is not nearly as good.

5. Super Saiyan Gohan (Teen) - Successor of the Strongest

This is another character that is good because of the passive skill. He gets 2 ki as long as your hp is over 50%. This lets him constantly do 100% damage or more, which makes up for his average overall stats.
