1. The Last Guardian

Platform: PS4

Release Date: December 6

Publisher and Developer: Sony Interactive Entertainment and genDESIGN and SIE Japan Studio.

Finally. After many delays, the PS4 exclusive title will be released on December 6th!

Since 2007, The Last Guardian had been in development for the PS3 by Fumito Ueda, the creative mind behind other titles like Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. But due to Ueda, along with other project members leaving Sony, and other complications like hardware issues, the title was swapped to a PS4 release instead.

The game is sort of like a flashback from a boy's perspective. When he was young, he got kidnapped and was put in a castle. There he encountered the creature pictured above. With the creature's help, the boy tries to escape the castle. All this time, the two develop a friendship.

This is one of the most anticipated PS4 titles yet, and gamers have been looking forward to it since its announcement at E3 2015. The title has been in development for a long time, so let's hope that it'll be a mind-blower.

These are just some of the games that players are looking forward to in the month of December! What games are you yourself most excited for? Feel free to let us know down in the comment section!

2. Super Mario Maker for 3DS

Platform: 3DS

Release Date: December 2

Publisher and Developer: Nintendo

Are you a creative individual? Do you like to build stuff and design unique levels? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this game is for you!

The original Super Mario Maker came out for the Wii U last year. This time around, the game will be coming to the handheld device!

This special Super Mario game allows you to build, design, and construct your very own levels! You can also share those levels with the world and allow other players to try and beat them. You can either make a standard level which is very basic to the original levels from other games, or you can add obstacles, puzzles, or whatever it is that you wish in order to spice up your creativity!

The game literally allows you to create whichever level you want, play it, share it, and much more!

3. Super Mario Run

Platform: iOS

Release Date: December 15

Publisher and Developer: Nintendo

Super Mario Run will be available for the iPhone and iPad soon. The game quite honestly is pretty simple. Mario keeps running forward the whole time. By tapping the screen, he will jump and collect coins, or stomp an enemy. If you time your jumps correctly, he will be able to pull off interesting and unique moves, and gather even more coins!

The game will have three modes: World Tour, Toad Rally, and Kingdom Builder.

  • World Tour: Just like any other Super Mario game, Mario must rush to Princess Peach's rescue and save her from Bowser.
  • \n
  • Toad Rally: This is sort of like a multiplayer mode. The goal is try and collect as many coins in order to set a high score between your friends or other players from around the world.
  • \n
  • Kingdom Builder: You can build your own little world from the coins that you have collected in Toad Rally.
  • \n

This is basically the classic Super Mario games that you played, but incorporate a new aspect (just tapping the screen). And as stated above, it'll have a multiplayer area which might prove to be incredibly interesting for a platforming game.

4. Eagle Flight

Platform: Vive

Release Date: December 20

Publisher and Developer: Ubisoft and Ubisoft Montreal

An exclusive VR title, Eagle Flight literally provides players with a bird's eye view. The whole game takes place in Paris after humans have vanished, and nature took over as a result of that. You can fly around the city and explore every street, building, and famous landmark like the Eiffel Tower.

Apart from having single player, there will also be multiplayer. You will have the option to battle other players in mid air for whatever objective. Or you if prefer to avoid combat altogether, you can just have pleasant and relaxing flight.

If you ever wanted to get a bird's perspective of the world, regardless of midair combat or just flying around and exploring, than this game might be for you.

5. Maize

Platform: PC

Release Date: December 1

Publisher and Developer: Finish Line Games

I'm going to try and keep this simple... it's a P.O.V. adventure game about a corn that comes to life and explores an abandoned farm, the area around it, and a secret research facility that just so happens to be underground. There is also a Russian toy robot bear, so you have that to look forward to!

I'm also certain that besides the adventure aspect, gamers will have to solve puzzles of various kinds. And since this game will require exploration, you'll make some unique discoveries, especially in the underground research facility!

November is almost over. As December slowly makes its way towards us, gamers have set their eyes on new releases. And let us not forget that December is also the holiday season! Perhaps you're looking to get a gift for yourself, or someone that you know?

The following is a slideshow that displays the five most anticipated for December.

Ubisoft unveils three games in VR lineup https://www.gameskinny.com/j5yls/ubisoft-unveils-three-games-in-vr-lineup https://www.gameskinny.com/j5yls/ubisoft-unveils-three-games-in-vr-lineup Wed, 24 Aug 2016 14:19:04 -0400 LoganKrum

The next few months will be packed with virtual reality from Ubisoft. The developing company revealed its upcoming VR lineup at Gamescom last week, showcasing titles like Eagle Flight, Star Trek: Bridge Crew, and Werewolves Within.

Eagle Flight allows players to soar through the skies of a post-apocalyptic Paris from the perspective of the titular bird. The game was developed by FunHouse and is playable in single and multiplayer modes, the latter of which allows players to defend territory in aerial combat.

The game will be released to Oculus Rift October 18, PlayStationVR November 8 and HTC Vive December 20

Players will command the U.S.S. Aegis starship in Star Trek: Bridge Crew. The game was designed specifically for VR to allow players to immerse themselves in the unique Star Trek universe. The player is sent to explore an unexplored area of space known as The Trench, where all of the player’s choices will have an impact.

The game will be released to all three VR stations November 29.

Protect the village and discover the true werewolf with Werewolf Within. The multiplayer games assigns each of the 5-8 players a special role as they vote who to kill in their quest to eliminate werewolves from the medieval village. Similar to the card game One Night Ultimate Werewolf, the game will submerge players in the virtual village as they try to survive the vote, and the night.

Werewolf Within will be released to all major VR stations December 6.

Celebrating 30 years of gaming with Ubisoft https://www.gameskinny.com/zdctn/celebrating-30-years-of-gaming-with-ubisoft https://www.gameskinny.com/zdctn/celebrating-30-years-of-gaming-with-ubisoft Tue, 14 Jun 2016 19:36:03 -0400 ESpalding

At this year's E3 Expo, Ubisoft has been celebrating their 30th birthday. That's a lot of years publishing and making video games! Ubisoft's impressive back catalogue shows how consistent and dedicated they are to distributing great video games for everyone no matter their interests or age.

From their humble beginnings in a village in Brittany, France, the Guillemot brother's business has grown into a multinational company with offices in over 15 countries. They are the third largest independent publishers, marginally behind Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts (EA) and have hundreds of game titles under their belt. Ubisoft continues to be a frontrunner in developing new gaming technologies and always striving to bring new gaming experiences to players.

Having published many smaller games through the late 80s and early 90s such as Unreal (1990), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1993), and Street Racer (1994), Ubisoft really hit the big time when they released Rayman. Developed by LudiaMedia (now called Ubisoft Montpellier), Rayman was available on the Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn and MS-DOS but had its most popular outing on the PlayStation. The game sold 900,000 copies in two years and was voted as "Best Music in a CD-ROM Game" and "Best Animation" at the 1995 Video Game Awards. It is the best-selling PlayStation game in the UK having sold approximately 2 million copies.

Rayman is now one of the iconic images of Ubisoft, has spawned an entire series of games and is as popular now as it was in the 90s. In 2006, Rayman was joined by the Raving Rabbids, a deranged group of rabbits who enjoy getting up to no good and wreaking havoc.

In 2000, Red Storm Entertainment became a subsidiary of Ubisoft. The studio had already released Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six in 1998 to great acclaim, so when the two released Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, it was no surprise that it was a success. Since then, there have been over 12 other titles in the Rainbow Six series and the franchise is always pushing the limits of first person shooters.

Ubisoft is renowned for picking up big names to publish and in the early 2000's they started to publish games developed by Cyan Inc, the masterminds behind the Myst and Uru series. 2003 saw Ubisoft release the first Uru title, Beyond the Myst. Further titles were published in 2004 and 2005. Since then Cyan Inc has released their own Myst and Uru games.

Sometimes even the big guns find an opportunity to work together and Ubisoft did just that in 2002 when they worked with Bethesda on publishing The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Morrowind is the third installment in The Elder Scrolls series and won a multitude of awards including Game of the Year and sold over 4 million copies.

To jump forward to today, Ubisoft is now heading into a different area of entertainment -- video game-based movies. This year, Assassin's Creed is coming to the big screen headed up with Michael Fassbender in the lead role. The Assassin's Creed series began in 2007 when Ubisoft Montreal released the first in series. The game followed Desmond Miles as he viewed and controlled history through the eyes of his genetic ancestor, an assassin called Altair. The game was set during the time of the Third Crusade in 1191. The other Assassin's Creed games follow the same basic principal but take place across lots of different eras in a fictional history but based on real world events. The motion picture will be set in 15th century Spain and is due to release December 16th.

We would both be here all day if I listed every single hit game that Ubisoft has worked on in their 30 years in the business. From Settlers IV to CSI, Batman to Prince of Persia, there is no genre Ubisoft hasn't been involved in. Keeping up with current gaming trends, they announced two new titles at the E3 conference for the Virtual Reality (VR) crowd - Eagle Flight, which lets players soar through the skies of a barren futuristic Paris through the eyes of Eagles, and Star Trek: Bridge Crew, which allows you and your friends to take the helm of a Starfleet starship to explore and discover new planets and civilizations.

Who knows where else Ubisoft will take us in the realms of VR? Maybe we'll see a VR Rainbow Six or Assassins Creed title in the future? Everyone desires to see more games from their favourite developers, what are you hoping the future will bring from Ubisoft? Will they still be around in another 30 years? Let us know your thoughts below.

Ubisoft E3 2016: South Park, Eagles, Starships and more! https://www.gameskinny.com/v29wh/ubisoft-e3-2016-south-park-eagles-starships-and-more https://www.gameskinny.com/v29wh/ubisoft-e3-2016-south-park-eagles-starships-and-more Mon, 13 Jun 2016 15:04:40 -0400 ESpalding

In addition to the first person shooters and thrillers that Ubisoft has become synonymous with, this year's conference was littered with lots of fun and upbeat games that truly show off how versatile Ubisoft is when it comes to producing games for everyone.

South Park - The Fractured but Whole

Trey Parker and Matt Stone joined Ubisoft's senior producer, Jason Schroeder, on stage to give everyone a glimpse of the new South Park game The Fractured but Whole. It is a direct continuation from the 2014 hit The Stick of Truth. Players will continue playing as the new kid as he joins Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny in a new RPG adventure to hit back against the dark underbelly of South Park. You get to create your own superhero from a host of unique abilities and develop your character throughout the game and live up to Cartman's expectations. There are new gameplay features including the use of combat space, and players can stop time to plan attacks to optimize damage.

The Fractured but Whole is currently available for pre-purchase and, for a limited time, players who do purchase it will be able to get The Stick of Truth for free. The Fracture but Whole will release on December 6th and will be available on XBox One, PS4 and on Steam for PC.

Eagle Flight

The first VR title to get discussed in Ubisoft's conference was Eagle Flight. The game is set in a World which has been taken over by animals and plants but the cities still stand. As you can see in the reveal trailer, the iconic Eiffel Tower in France still stands, and players get to explore Paris from a unique viewpoint as Eagles. In a multiplayer mode of up to 6 people, you engage in dogfights to protect your territory or in "capture the flag" type games for food.

Eagle Flight will be out in the Fall and will be available on all VR systems.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

There have been numerous Star Trek games in the past. Some have been RPG and others have been about discovering "strange new worlds." But now, with the arrival of VR, Star Trek: Bridge Crew allows you to take your place on the helm and command your own starship. The USS Aegis is a new Starfleet ship which has been sent out on a mission to find a new Vulcan homeworld. Players must team up with other players and control the starship from engineering duties to tactical. To discuss the game, conference host, Aisha Tyler, was joined on stage by Levar Burton, who played Geordi LeForge in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The actor was excited to be finally able to command a starship rather than being in engineering. Fans of the show will remember that Geordi LeForge wore a visor similar to a VR headset.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be available on all major VR systems in the Fall.

Grow Up

From the UK-based Ubisoft Reflections comes a follow-up of their small, experimental title Grow Home. The new title, Grow Up, sees the little robot known as BUD (or Botanical Utility Droid) exploring the wideness of space in search of the remains of his spacecraft MOM. With the help of his new friend POD, BUD must use his knowledge of plants and their weird capabilities to discover and explore the Worlds around him to gather all the parts of MOM.

The game will be available to download on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and will release this August.

Trails of the Blood Dragon

After the events of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the children of the all-American cyber hero Rex Power Colt are now taking on all opposition in Vietnam War 4 using methods which would seem weird and foreign to their father. With the use of BMX-style stunt bikes and their own cyber-enhanced bodies, Rex's children are flying, crashing and soaring their way to victory. Music for the game is produced by the Austrailian duo Power Glove.

The game is available to download now for Xbox One, PS4, and PC for $14.99

Just Dance 2017

Just when you thought that Just Dance was getting old, Ubisoft announced that this October fans will be able to dance to even more tracks in Just Dance 2017. As well as all the usual platforms PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii, and Wii U, Just Dance 2017 will also be launching digitally on PC and has been confirmed for the Nintendo NX.

There will be 40 tracks available for you to dance the night away to. Some of the tracks include:

  • “Sorry” – Justin Bieber
  • “DADDY” – Psy Ft. CL of 2NE1
  • “Cheap Thrills” – Sia Ft. Sean Paul
  • “Lean On” – Major Lazer Ft. MØ & DJ Snake
  • “Worth It” – Fifth Harmony Ft. Kid Ink
  • “Don’t Stop Me Now” – Queen
  • “PoPiPo” – Hatsune Miku
  • “Radical” – Dyro & Dannic
  • “El Tiki” – Maluma
  • “September” – Equinox Stars
  • “What Is Love” – Ultraclub 90

A new feature being added to the game will be a mode called the Just Dance Machine which will challenge you to perform different kinds of dance such as flamenco, ballet, and the cancan. Players will also get to use familiar features, yet again, such as the Just Dance Controller App, the Dance Quest challenge mode and the Sweat + Playlist fitness mode.
