So that's our list of 10 fighters we'd like the Nintendo Switch to have. Of course, some have a better chance of others at making the jump to the new console when it launches in 2017, but who knows, maybe we'll see em' all.

\n

Agreed with our list? Disagree with the list? Do you have a better list? Let us know in the comments section below.

Last on the list is the not so obscure Skullgirls 2nd Encore. Developed by a team of fighting game fans, Skullgirls is a very forward-thinking title.

\n

At its core, the game plays like a cross-over title, much like the games in the Marvel vs Capcom series. But unlike that series, Skullgirls players have a number of options for matches. Players can elect to use one fighter, a team of two fighters or a team of three fighters for each match, adding a wide variety of match types not typically found in other fighting games.

\n

The game is also special because it features a cast of nearly all female fighters. Wacky and unique, each character looks as if they were pulled from various eras of animation. And because of all its quirks, it would make too much sense for this game to find its way to the Nintendo Switch.

\n

Dissidia Final Fantasy is up next on our wishlist for the Switch.

\n

Without a doubt, everyone knows about the Final Fantasy series. AND everyone also has personal favorites. With those favorites, you'll find conversations about which hero/foe is strongest and so forth. And this is the title settle all those debates once and for all.

\n

A new arcade game that pits heroes and villains of the series against each other, Dissidia could make a huge splash on the Nintendo Switch, especially if Nintendo's new console is the first to feature the game's home release.

\n

Players would finally be able to live out Final Fantasy fighting fan fiction feverishly.

If the Switch should find a cross-over game then, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 should be it. The Marvel games target a certain niche within the fighter genre --unlike any others. At its highest level of play, it's hard to keep track of what's going on on-screen, and that's why it's a must play.

\n

The title is incredibly technical at its highest level and requires players to be on their toes at all times. Anything can swing the match in favor of you or your foe. You have to have the presence of mind to recognize opportunity and potential misfortune. Really, it's a game that pros and casual players can both pick up and enjoy.

It may not be the most popular title on the list, but of all the fighters released in 2016, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator is arguably the best. Nearly every ounce of the game has been influenced by the rock and roll genre, not to mention the series has been a staple of the fighting game genre for years.

\n

Xrd was developed by Arc System Work, which has been making fighters for nearly 20 years. As such, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator features everything you could ask for in a fighting game. The fighters are all flashy in their own ways, the game features a robust tutorial that will teach noobs and pros alike nearly every single nuance in the game, and well, the game's just darn pretty. Let me tell you there's a lot.

\n

Let me tell you, there's a lot going on here.

\n

The gameplay is fast, furious, highly technical and so so beautiful. We really hope the Switch is graced with this entry in the series.

Mortal Kombat XL should be made available on the Switch because it would bring older, more mature players to the console.

\n

The latest game in the series is a culmination of Mortal Kombat's best mechanics and style. The character roster features more than 30 combatants, and even horror and sci-fi film favorites Jason Voorhees, the Alien and the Predator. What's more, the game features a robust campaign/story mode.

\n

Oh, and did we mention the fatalities are pretty brutal?

\n

The next brawler we think should be available is Injustice 2, which serves as the beefier sequel to the surprising Injustice. The fighter features heroes and villains from the pages of DC comics, and the newest entry leans on the popularity of the DC TV shows, featuring those heroes front and center. Supergirl vs The Flash anyone?

\n

From the development studio that created Mortal Kombat, Injustice 2 will continue offering gameplay unique to itself. The title features some destructible environments and hazards, while characters can gain armor and added abilities as battles progress.

\n

The Switch would be a good place to answer the question: Can Batman really beat Superman?

Of course, no list for a Nintendo console would be complete without a Smash Bros mention. This is most likely a sure thing for Nintendo. Super Smash Bros. 4 is premiere eSport that has gameplay fit for casuals, professionals and everyone in-between. That's not to mention the Smash Bros franchise has been a staple for Nintendo since it first released for the N64 in 1999.

\n

Super Smash Bros' popularity is well deserved on so many levels. The in-game content is massive. Its history encompasses years of Nintendo titles, and more recently others. The highest levels of competition require players' minds to move at breakneck speeds.

\n

The latest title also features a unique roster with more quests from non-Nintendo franchises. I mean Ryu vs Greninja? Who doesn't want that on a new console?

Tekken 7 is the next fighter on our list. For years Tekken has been considered one of the best 3D fighting games on the market. Across any console it's been available on, the series has set industry and genre standards again and again. It's also one of the few fighters where you can fight in full 360-degreee plane.

\n

Tekken 7 not only adds more characters to the series, but it also expands on the series' core gameplay mechanics. Fighters now have super combos that deliver massive damage.

\n

Of course, it goes without saying the game is beautiful, too. Fighters hail from new parts of the world and possess numerous fighting styles, fleshing out the series' lore and global feel. Who doesn't want to play a game that has superhumans, zombies, robot girls and generational samurai?

King of Fighters XIV in our opinion is the second best fighter to be released in 2016. So we're hoping it finds its way to the Nintendo Switch at launch. Its availability would make sense considering SNK has been on a campaign of change if you will.

\n

So why King of Fighter XIV? Well, one good reason is its roster of 50 fighters. No game released recently can boast those numbers. The mechanics are pretty advanced and that's putting it mildly. You'll feel more like a tactician against the competition.

\n

You can spend hours learning the game. Then there's the in-game content; an engrossing story, character trails, art and more. This game offers a lot.

"},{"image":"http://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/e_sharpen:150,f_auto,fl_lossy,q_80/v1/gameskinny/f86614eb1f6355d850a5d33a5fa3b951.jpg","thumb":"http://res.cloudinary.com/lmn/image/upload/e_sharpen:150,f_auto,fl_lossy,q_80/v1/gameskinny/f86614eb1f6355d850a5d33a5fa3b951.jpg","type":"youtube","id":"9896","description":"

Ahh, Street Fighter V, one of the most popular eSports titles around.

\n

Sure the game has had its share of controversies, but you can't deny it's one of the best fighters out there.

\n

The game has deep mechanics, fierce gameplay and nuance after nuance. When you look at any match between pros, you can see its intricacies at work. With 22 characters to chose from and a number of varied stages, there's enough fighting-game content to hold anyone's attention.

\n

Now, it's pretty unlikely SFV may grace another console considering it was co-funded by Sony.

\n

Regardless, SFV also supports a very robust online competitive scene.

\n

We don't know what the nature of the Switch's online structure will be, but we're fairly certain many will spend hours fighting worldwide, especially if Street Fighter V makes its way to the console.

With the reveal of the Nintendo Switch, there's been a lot of speculation. Mainly, the biggest question is what games will find new homes with the console. Of all the genres out there, we'd like see a variety of fighting games at the system's launch -- or shortly thereafter.

\n

We've complied a list of games we'd love to see on the new gaming console. Some games are current favorites, some are titles that deserve a revival, while others maybe somewhat obscure. Regardless, each game on this list would bring much welcomed competition to Nintendo's newest console.

Do you ever feel... stuck? Bored with your current relationship? Has the spark gone away? Are you getting frustrated with things that you once found charming and unique? Maybe the game you once saw as the best fighting game ever just... isn't anymore. If so, it's time to move on.

Fret not. Breaking up is hard to do, but you'll be happier for it. If you've answered yes to any of the above questions, it might be time to find a new fighting game to call your own.

In that spirit, we've compiled this brief overview of most of the major fighting game franchises with active competitive scenes, rated for game speed, friendliness to new players, and how active the game's competitive scene currently is.

Welcome, folks, to Video Game Speed Dating.

Super Smash Bros.

New-player-friendliness: 5/5
Game speed: 2/5
Activity: 4/5

Ah, yes. Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U. Even though the last bit of DLC has already dropped for the game, the scene continues to grow, thanks in no small part to the fact that the game is fairly easy to pick up and play at a relatively competitive level. Of all the titles on this list, Smash 4 is probably the best fighting game for newcomers to the genre.

Unlike Super Smash Bros. Melee, this version of the game is slower and more methodical. While there are advanced techniques like dash-dancing, pivoting, and foxtrots to learn, mastering fundamental play is more about mindset than twitch reaction times.

Success in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U comes from being able to read opponents and predict, based on their tendencies, what they'll do next. Oh, and by the way, if you want a guide on how to level up your Smash 4 game, we have one right here.

A great match for:

Methodical gamers who can appreciate a zero-to-death combo as much as a good prediction, and who don't mind memorizing strategies for a, frankly, insanely expansive character list.

Skip it if:

You get frustrated by campers, or have trouble dealing with projectile characters in fighting games.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

New-player-friendliness: 1/5
Game speed: 5/5
Activity: 3.5/5

Perhaps more than any other fighting game on the market today, Super Smash Bros. Melee simply looks different when professionals play it. It's frenetic blink-and-you'll-miss-it action.

Being at all competitive in the insanely-fast-paced world of Super Smash Bros. Melee requires mastery of advanced techniques like wavedashing, as well as split-second reactions to what your opponent is doing.

All that is to say, the barrier of entry here is high, but if you're able to clear it, you'll be rewarded by entering a scene that has played host to some of the best moments in fighting game history.

A great match for:

Gamers who don't mind devoting months to mastering techniques, knowing that they are necessary to even compete at a basic level, and who then won't mind spending more time mastering character specific combos and honing reaction time.

Skip it if:

You thrive on instant gratification

King of Fighters

New-player-friendliness: 3/5
Game speed: 3.5/5
Activity: 2/5

The King of Fighters series has always been one of the more niche fighting game franchises currently running, especially when compared with the bigger franchises like Super Smash Bros. and Street Fighter

Despite this, the modern King of Fighters games are about as close as gamers can get to an older school 2D fighter like Street Fighter Alpha, or to a lesser extent, Marvel vs. Capcom. This is probably the best fighting game series out there for gamers that grew up mastering cancels and long combos, and who are a bit alienated by the slower, meatier direction the Street Fighter games are taking.

Time will tell what King of Fighters XIV brings to the table when it is released this August, but with Street Fighter V disappointing many fans of the series, there's no time like the present to explore other options.

A great match for:

Gamers who miss sprite-based 2D fighters of the late 1990's and early 2000's, but who are alienated by the additions made by 2D fighters like Guilty Gear.

Skip it if:

You don't like having 75% of your health bar destroyed by one combo

Mortal Kombat

New-player-friendliness: 3/5
Game speed: 2.5/5
Activity: 3.5/5

Chicago's Netherrealm Studios, the brains behind Mortal Kombat, have been hard at work these past few years. After partnering with Warner Brothers, the Mortal Kombat series of games (and, by extension, the Injustice games) have become huge, cinematic affairs with expansive character lists.

The great thing about the growth of these games, however, is that the mechanics of the game have largely stayed the same throughout its existence (well, the weird 3D games excepted). Mortal Kombat's combo system has always been juggle based, rewarding players who are patient with their button presses with long combos that easily eat through opponents' health bars.

Yes, the developers have added advanced techniques and gameplay elements to the title throughout the years, but the meaty, bloody combat of Mortal Kombat X will be familiar to gamers, even if they have not played a game in the series since Mortal Kombat 2.

A great match for:

Gamers willing to workshop their own juggle combos and resets in an effort to find a zero-to-death combo.

Skip it if:

You don't like having 100% of your health bar destroyed by one combo

Guilty Gear

New-player-friendliness: 2/5
Game speed: 4/5
Activity: 3/5

With the recent release of Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, the Guilty Gear scene has been infused with some much needed life. Unlike King of Fighters, Guilty Gear prides itself on complicated gameplay that requires careful meter management and in-depth knowledge of a burst system to string together combos.

That said, for players that loved the more complex elements present in the later Marvel vs. Capcom games, Guilty Gear scratches that itch very nicely. Players will need to completely immerse themselves in the game's mechanics to succeed, mastering burst types, dust attacks and aerial rave linkups, all the while attempting to avoid one-hit-kill special attacks.

There's a lot to think about here, and the action gets very intense and hard-to-follow at the highest levels of play, but for connoisseurs of the 2D fighter genre, it's hard to find a game with a higher skill ceiling, even if you count Guilty Gear's similar-but-more-combo-focused cousin, BlazBlue. The best players out therewill find a lot to love in this fighting game franchise.

A great match for:

Gamers who don't mind learning and mastering unfamiliar mechanics.

Skip it if:

You don't want to have to practice in lab for, like, a year to be competitive.

Street Fighter

New-player-friendliness: 2/5
Game speed: 3.5/5
Activity: 4/5

Despite Street Fighter V's rocky launch, and all the issues that came from Capcom releasing what was, in effect, an incomplete game, Street Fighter V is a mechanically sound fighter that follows in the footsteps of Street Fighter IV as another fighter where you really have to pick your moment to attack.

Though the removal of focus attacks in favor of character-specific V-skills and V-triggers has sped the game up considerably, combos in Street Fighter games are (generally) not as long as they are in other 2D fighters. This means that matches are more of a push-pull affair, where one mistake doesn't necessarily mean the end.

Because of this, it's generally easier for new players to pick up Street Fighter V and learn it, since they have more time to identify and try to learn from their mistakes. While the skill ceiling is high, the barrier for entry is low.

A great match for:

Fans of Street Fighter IV, gamers who prefer to learn by playing instead of by spending time in the lab.

Skip it if:

You don't want to fight hundreds of people online who main Ken

We hope that this has been helpful! Again, we know that it is sometimes scary to try something new, but it can also be exciting and fun. So next time date night comes around, light a few candles, dim the lights, put on some music, and pop the fighting game that is best for you. Really, you can't go wrong with any of them. They're all knockouts.

Let's be real. The reason you're playing Mortal Kombat instead of another fighting game is because of the game's gratuitous gore. It's okay. We get it. Fatalities are one of the main aspects that set the series apart from other fighters.

So in lieu of that, here's the full list of every Fatality and Stage Fatality you can pull off in Mortal Kombat X, including Mortal Kombat XL DLC characters.

Fatalities are listed with PS4 controls/Xbox One controls. Characters are listed in alphabetical order.

Be warned: Everything is gory. Everything.

PAX Guide: Preparing for PAX East 2016 https://www.gameskinny.com/hez2o/pax-guide-preparing-for-pax-east-2016 https://www.gameskinny.com/hez2o/pax-guide-preparing-for-pax-east-2016 Thu, 21 Apr 2016 14:59:03 -0400 JunaeBenne

Tomorrow is the big day;  PAX East 2016 is FINALLY here! If this is your first PAX, you'll probably want to get into everything and be everywhere at once. But that isn’t possible unless you have a Time Turner like Hermoine. (Anyone have one, because I need one too! No? Not yet huh? Well, that’s ok.) Here’s a guide on how to have successful, fulfilling, and fun PAX weekend.

What are the events happening at PAX?

A good first step is to download the PAX app, which has the entire schedule for three days. There is even a tab to make your own schedule. This allows you to add events you'll find interesting and be alerted before they start.

Which events should I go to?

What events you attend is totally up to you. But it helps to go through all three days of scheduling, then use the PAX app or website to see what stands out to you. If you aren’t familiar with the panelists or game, Google it.

Here's a piece of advice: if you find a panel that’s interesting, realize that you’re not the only person who thinks so. As such, you should try to get there early to make sure you'll be able to get in. If you’re not in line by the time they start counting (meaning they count the amount of people that can fit in the chairs in the room), chances are you won’t get inside. Pick ONE thing that you must do and get in line as early as possible.

Here's what my schedule looks like:

What about nom noms?

Bring snacks. I am the Queen of Snacks. White Cheddar Cheezits? Check. Blue Machine Naked? Check. Pockets full of off-brand granola bars? Check. Red Gatorade? Check and check!

Bring lots of snacks and stay hydrated. These are good for when walking around the convention and when you need that extra boost. Or maybe you’re going from a Mortal Kombat tourney to a Smash tourney and you don’t have time to search for food. You’re on a mission, so stock up!!

There is food available there, but you'd think Chef Ramsey was the one cooking it judging by the prices, so bring tons of extra money for food.

Where am I going to put all my stuff?

This is a convention there will be tons of giveaways, including bags. Do bring a bag for your personal items but, there will be bags/totes available at PAX to put all your cool things in.

Don’t forget to talk to the people on your left and right about prizes, giveaways, and etc. There are a few game shows happening, like The Price is Right and Family Feud. If you can, try to partake in them to win even more awesome prized.

It also helps to make a checklist of what to put in your bag, just to make sure you don't forget anything you might need. For example: chargers for all electronics, perhaps extra batteries, snacks, camera, fight stick and cash is always good.

Cute or Comfortable Shoes?

Wear comfortable shoes -- or wear flip flops if you like blisters. Unless you are casually coming to PAX for a few hours, wear some shoes you can walk in for hours. Or you WILL punk out two hours into your PAX experience. Girls, you should feel free to wear heels if you can walk in those bad boys for eight hours or more. (And more props to you if you can.) It's your feet you're destroying.

How do I get around?

Lyft’s code for a free ride is “PAX 16.” Uber’s codes are “Appstore” for $10 off the first ride and “b3800” for $30 credit for all rides. There are also cabs and bus options for transportation to and from the convention center. Check the route of your starting point to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Here's the address:

415 Summer St. Boston, MA 02210

What are the rules?

On the back of your badge, it tells you a few simple guidelines. Try not to lose your things, because security may not be that helpful. Show consideration and awe for people cosplaying, of course.

Mostly, just remember to have fun. Enjoy PAX; whether this is your first or fourty-first PAX, enjoy it. And let others enjoy it too.

Mortal Kombat XL hits store shelves tomorrow March 1 - both digitally and physically for those in North America. European fans will have to wait until March 4 to pick up the definitive edition for the classic fighting franchise.

The original game was released early last year to positive reviews. The combat is as polished as it has ever been, and it boasts one of the best storylines among fighting games. Not to mention that it is as gory and brutal as always. It currently sits at a favorable 83 on Metacritic

Players who haven't yet picked up Mortal Kombat X can look forward to getting a hold of all DLC released so far. Included among the DLC will be a host of new characters such as Predator, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, and the Xenomorph from Alien

The following is everything that will come with the game:

  • Playable characters from Kombat Pack 1: Xenomorph from Alien, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Triborg and Bo’Rai Cho
  • Apocalypse Skin Pack
  • Previously released content: Goro, Brazil Skin Pack, Kold War Skin Pack and Kold War Scorpion Skin
  • Playable characters from Kombat Pack 2: Predator, Jason Voorhees, Tremor and Tanya, each accompanied by three skins
  • Samurai Skin Pack

Also revealed a few days ago, Creative Director Ed Boon announced that XL will launch with improved online gameplay from day one.

The game will be available for $59.99 on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Prepare for frostbite because next week Mortal Kombat XL will be coming out.

WB Games is re-releasing Mortal Kombat X but making it bigger and better with Mortal Kombat XLMortal Kombat X was a very popular game in 2015 and was lorded as the most brutal "kombat" experience ever. More blood, more fatalities, more brutalities, and more characters.

On March 1st, 2016 WB Games will release Mortal Kombat XLMortal Kombat XL will be available on Xbox One and PS4, but not on PC. The game includes the base game (Mortal Kombat X) and both DLC Kombat packs. Mortal Kombat XL is meant for those who do not already have Mortal Kombat X, but who want to get their hands on absolutely everything.

The game will come with new playable characters, plus previously released characters. New characters include: Alien, Leatherface, Triborg, and Bo'Rai Cho. (That's right, from THE Alien. They are a Xenomorph spliced with Baraka's DNA. Beware the blades.)

So get your Drunken Fist ready, but try not to get your Puke Puddle on your consoles.

Mortal Kombat X Tips and Tricks Guide https://www.gameskinny.com/q0dwu/mortal-kombat-x-tips-and-tricks-guide https://www.gameskinny.com/q0dwu/mortal-kombat-x-tips-and-tricks-guide Fri, 12 Jun 2015 20:31:07 -0400 Fireboltz_7795

Whether you’re just starting out, or you’re an experienced player, there are many ways to approach each opponent you face in Mortal Kombat X. If you play online, you will face spammers, combo experts, and sporadic fighters that do who knows what. How do you handle someone who just does one move repeatedly? How do you stop the combo experts? Here’s some advice (some basic, some more complex) on playing Mortal Kombat X.

(Please note, I have MKX Xbox One, so I’ll explain it using that controller, but everything still applies the same for the other versions.)

The Straight Jump

This is very basic, but I know a lot of players that don’t use it or know it. When you jump straight up in the air (not forwards or backwards) and press Y, you can slam your opponent into the ground and back up. This is especially nice since it provides many opportunities to begin or continue a combo, so use it!

Learn Two Long Combos

I’ve played plenty of opponents have an impressive 35% combo or so, but if that’s your one trick pony, I will counter it. A long combo to me is anything that hits approximately 25% or more in health damage. If you can learn two of these with a character, you can keep your opponent from being able to predict your moves.

Train

This is something that nobody seems to do. If you want to get good at pulling off combos, or learn the best way to block/counter Sub-Zero’s obnoxious slide attack, training mode is best. While you’re at it, practice creating a wall combo as well; those make winning matches a lot easier and are usually easy to pull off.

Train With Three Characters

When playing online, you will run into several individuals that will play as Katana, Scorpion, Mileena, or Sub-Zero. You will also note that as you play against these people, they will all have similar fighting styles, spams, and combos. It’s not a bad thing to play as one of these four, but people get used to fighting them and it makes it harder on you. Mix it up; keep your opponent on his toes by fighting as Kotal Kahn or Ferra/Torr. They won’t know (most likely) what to expect when you play as these less popular fighters.

Spam Block

You know what a spammer is if you’ve played MKX online. There’s Jax and his rockets. Erron Black and his distance shooting, and don’t forget Katana and her fan throws. Almost all the characters have a spam move that people will use to win the match. My advice is to grab a buddy and have him spam you, that way you can learn the best way to defeat the dreaded spammer. Also note that these opponents aren’t usually good at the game, and if you can keep them close to you, you can beat them senselessly with combos and other tactics.

Throw/EX Moves

Despite what you or others may believe, throws are not cheap. They are intentionally designed so that opponent you’re facing will quit blocking all of your moves. (I call opponents that are constantly blocking during the match turtles!) If you face someone who is blocking, throw them over and over until they stop. Also, for that person who loves to duck and kick constantly, use the EX moves. Most characters have temporary invincibility when executing, so they’re attack won’t (usually that is) impede your own.

Ask For Help

When I play an opponent that is better than me, or he is using a character that I really enjoy, I ask them for help. Most people I’ve discovered are willing to help you learn a new combo that you didn’t previously know, so don’t be afraid to message them. It will only make you better in the end.

Use Youtube

Youtube has it all for you. There are videos on how to do specific tricks, how to pull off a difficult combo, etc. The best thing about it is there is advice for all of the characters as well. If you there is something you want to learn, Youtube is your best answer.

I hope these tips and tricks for Mortal Kombat X helped, and if you have a method for fighting that you feel works really well, please feel free to share! And if you're looking for other strategies to help you dominate the opposition, make sure to check out our other MKX guides here! Here are a few to get you started:

Mortal Kombat X Guide: How to Find All Krypt Inventory Items https://www.gameskinny.com/6hrs8/mortal-kombat-x-guide-how-to-find-all-krypt-inventory-items https://www.gameskinny.com/6hrs8/mortal-kombat-x-guide-how-to-find-all-krypt-inventory-items Mon, 20 Apr 2015 07:14:13 -0400 Synzer

Mortal Kombat X has what they call a "Krypt," which allows you to unlock most things in the game. Once you gain Koins from fighting, go to the krypt to spend them. It has Quick Time Events (QTE), where creatures jump out at you, as well as inventory items. These inventory items allow you to reach more areas of the krypt and unlock all Brutalities and Fatalities and even costumes and skins.

I'll help you find all 12 of these inventory items so you can have access to all areas in the Krypt. If you are looking for more guides and tips on Mortal Kombat X, check out my Beginner's guide.

This guide will cover the locations of all the inventory items in Mortal Kombat X including:

  • Name - What you call the item.
  • Location - The krypt area and coordinates.
  • Areas Unlocked - If the item lets you access a new area, it will also be listed.

Krypt Inventory Item Locations

When you pick up one of the items, it will show in your inventory. You can check your inventory, as well as the map, by opening the menu.

The top shows all the items you have, but you cannot interact with them here. When you reach an area that needs an inventory item, it will tell you if you do not have it and give a hint on what you need.

If you have the item, it will prompt you to use it.

Mortal Kombat X Guide - How to Unlock Alternate Costumes https://www.gameskinny.com/6vrtg/mortal-kombat-x-guide-how-to-unlock-alternate-costumes https://www.gameskinny.com/6vrtg/mortal-kombat-x-guide-how-to-unlock-alternate-costumes Sun, 19 Apr 2015 17:50:26 -0400 Ashley Shankle

There's a lot to be said about Mortal Kombat X, and I don't feel like saying any of it. Instead, you get a convenient and easy-to-use guide to unlocking most of the game's alternate costumes.

Every character has one costume they can get just by clearing the Klassic Tower, and some have others they can get by completing other tasks in-game.

Not all costumes can be obtained by actually playing Mortal Kombat X -- a few require you use the Mortal Kombat X Mobile app to either link accounts or actually play the mobile game.

Some costumes have methods we've yet to whittle down completely yet, but the most common theories and tried methods are listed. There seems to be some RNG involved in getting some costumes.

(Be sure to check out my good friend Steve's  on Fatalities guide and Brutalities guide if you're looking for an easy to use resource on busting some heads.)

Cassie Cage

  • Endurance Cassie Cage: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Cassie Cage or by finding it in the Krypt at (-1, 10).

D'Vorah

  • Kytinn Queen D'Vorah: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with D'Vorah or by finding it in the Chamber of Bones at (-8, 13).

Ermac

  • Tournament Ermac: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Ermac or finding it in the Cemetery Grounds at (-21, 9).

Erron Black

  • Outcast Erron Black: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Erron Black or finding it in the Frozen Graves at (-2, 9).

Ferra/Torr

  • Master and Servant Ferra/Torr: Can be unlocked by finding it in the Shadow Spider Kave (6, 8).

Jax

  • Farmer Jax: Unlocked via the Mortal Kombat X Mobile app.
  • Revenant Jax: Unlocked by getting 15 flawless victories in a row in Kustom Kombat with the 1% health modifier.
    • This is most easily done by going into Kustom Kombat with two controllers and setting the second controller down to get the victories with Jax.
  • Tournament Jax: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Jax or by finding it in the Cemetery Grounds (-19, 8).

Jacqui Briggs

  • Tournament Jacqui Briggs: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Jacqui Briggs or by finding it in the Garden of Despair (-8, 8).

Kano

  • Tournament Kano: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Kano or by finding it in the Walkway of Souls (-15, 19).

Kenshi

  • Tournament Kenshi:  Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Kenshi or by finding it in the Dark Pass (6, 17).

Kitana

  • Dark Empress Kitana: Drops randomly from Living Towers.
    • Some people claim faction level, score, and character affect when this skin drops; however, people have reported getting this skin with any character, any faction level, and any score. Some people also claim you need to clear 10 Living Towers. The evidence suggests it's really just random.
  • Klassic Kitana: Hit level 40 in the Mortal Kombat X Mobile app.
  • Revenant Kitana: (There are a lot of claims about how to get this one. Some say you need to get 50 King of the Hill wins, others say you need to get your special moves to level 5. I don't really know, this costume just popped up for me.)
  • Tournament Kitana: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Kitana or by finding it in the Frozen Graves (1, 6).

Johnny Cage

  • Hotshot Johnny Cage: Get a 10 win streak in King of the Hill Survivor. (Most easily done with a friend.)
  • Ninja Mime Johnny Cage: Use your WB account to sign into both the Mortal Kombat X Mobile app and the game itself.
  • Tournament Johnny Cage: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Johnny Cage or by finding it in Shao Khan's Tomb (1, 6).

Kotal Kahn

  • Osh-Tekk Warrior Kotal Kahn: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Kotal Kahn or by finding it in the Grotto of Gore (-8, 8).

Kung Jin

  • Shadow Kung Jin: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Kung Jin or by finding it in the Gallery of Shadows (-1, 4).

Kung Lao

  • Revenant Kung Lao: Unlocked by winning 25 public King of the Hill matches.
  • Tournament Kung Lao: Can be unlocked by either beating the Klassic Tower with Kung Lao or by finding it in the Hollow Grounds (-3, 19).

Brutalities make a comeback in Mortal Kombat X, but they are different this time. Now you must meet certain requirement and do a certain special move as the last hit to perform a brutality.

Some of these requirements are very specific while others just require you do a simple attack. You can't perform a brutality unless you've unlocked it, so I'll also tell you where to get each one. If you are looking for Fatalities, check out my guide on How to do Every Character's Fatalities. This guide will go over the first half of the characters in alphabetical order, A - K.

This guide will go over all the brutalities in Mortal Kombat X including:

  • Conditions -- Requirements for being able to do the brutality.
  • Button Inputs -- The buttons you need to press to perform it.
  • Krypt -- Where to get and how to unlock each brutality.

Notes:

  • 1 = Front Punch
  • 2 = Back Punch
  • 3 = Front Kick
  • 4 = Back Kick

There are coordinates after the area the chest is located in the krypt. Just look at the bottom left of your screen to see what area and the coordinates you are at when in the krypt.

Some chests also only appear at certain times. The bottom left also shows the internal clock of the krypt, I'll put times for those that require it.
