The Pokemon Presents August 2021 presentation revealed several new details about the upcoming Pokemon Legends Arceus, including stealth, crafting, and very deadly Pokemon.

Pokemon Legends takes place in Hisui, which is the Sinnoh region centuries before Diamond and Pearl take place. Plenty of recognizable Pokemon roam the wilds, but despite Legends' spinoff status, Game Freak is still introducing new Pokemon and new forms.

The Pokemon Presents episode revealed four new forms:

  • Hisuian Braviary, a Psychic revamp of the Unova variant
  • Hisuian Growlithe, a very good boi with a very big beard
  • Wyrdeer, a Stantler evolution
  • Hisuian Basculin, a fish that draws power from the souls of its dead comrades, because, of course, it does.

Several of these Pokemon will help you explore the plains, sail through the sky, or even ride the waves, not unlike HMs and Pokemon actions in Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Your goal is helping Galaxy Team, a group that's definitely not Team Galactic (except it is), understand how Pokemon live in their natural habitat. However, in Legends, the term "wild Pokemon" takes on new meaning.

Some Pokemon in Hisui will attack you directly if you disturb them, so having a set of sturdy 'mon with you is more important than ever. When you do enter combat, you'll notice a few differences as well.

Pokemon Legends introduces combat styles and a new battle order. Agile styles move faster, but hit at normal power, while strong style deals extra damage at the expense of more turns.

Pokemon Legends Arceus will release January 28, 2022, for Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Unite medals are symbols of your victory, prowess, or unique ability to attract harm more than anyone else. You'll see these pop up on the results screen after every match if you managed to meet specific criteria, but there's no easy way of knowing what each medal is for.

Our Pokemon Unite medals guide lists them all and how to get them. And no, they aren't the same as badges, even if they look similar.

They might look like badges, but unlike mainline Pokemon games, these don't give you access to new areas or the right to attack people in positions of power. Pokemon Unite medals are just there to look good and signify a job well done.

That's all you need to know about Pokemon Unite medals, but be sure to check out our other Pokemon Unite guides for more tips on how to be the very best.

Pokemon Unite: How Held and Battle Items Work https://www.gameskinny.com/px6rj/pokemon-unite-how-held-and-battle-items-work https://www.gameskinny.com/px6rj/pokemon-unite-how-held-and-battle-items-work Wed, 28 Jul 2021 16:56:04 -0400 Kenneth Seward Jr.

While Pokemon Unite's unique stylings are catered to the popular franchise, many of its gameplay mechanics are derived from the MOBA genre. That includes the ability to empower a character using Held Items and Battle Items.

Learning how to properly equip your Pokemon is important. Before you can, though, you’ll need to know what Pokemon Unite’s items are. Our guide below details their specific uses, how to upgrade some of them, and more.

Held Items vs Battle Items

The Item Box menu with the Held Items submenu highlighted, showing seven items.

Pokemon Unite allows players to utilize a ton of different items. When it comes to equitable items though, there are two main types: Held Items and Battle Items.

Held Items

A Held Item is a piece of gear that either alters a Pokemon’s stats and/or gives them extra passive abilities. Wise Glasses, for instance, increases the damage of special attacks. Leftovers, on the other hand, passively recovers a percentage of HP whenever a Pokemon is not in combat.

Players are given their first slot at Trainer Level 1. They’ll unlock the second and third slots at Level 7 and Level 10 respectively.

Held Items can be equipped in the Battle Prep menu, either from the start screen or right before a battle.

Battle Items

Battle Items are tied to your trainer level – the first item, Potion, is unlocked at Level 4 – and cannot be purchased through the in-game shops. They all provide active abilities, have cooldown timers, and only one can be equipped at a time.

One might restore a bit of HP while another creates a smoke cloud, slowing down rivals. You use them by pressing “Y”, and they essentially give each Pokemon an extra skill to use during matches.

Battle Items can only be equipped right before a battle.

Upgrading Held Items

The All Held Items submenus showing the Leftovers (apple core) item.

Pokemon Unite’s Held Items can be upgraded using Item Enhancer tokens after reaching Trainer Level 9.

This is done by hitting “X” on the main menu screen and navigating to the Battle Prep option. From there, after clicking on Held Items, you’ll be greeted with a screen showing the last Pokemon you played with.

Select All Held Items on the left-hand side to pull up your list of unlocked/purchased items. This is where you’ll be able to upgrade them using Item Enhancer tokens.

Each Held item can be upgraded several times, incrementally increasing its stats and token cost along the way, getting a major boost at Level 10 and maxed out stats at Level 20.

Item Enhancers

Item Enhancers can be obtained in various ways. You can receive some by leveling up the Battle Pass, completing events, or increasing your Trainer level. Some can be rewarded some via the Engery Reward system. You can even purchase them from the Aeos Emporium (one of the in-game shops) using Aeos tickets.

That wraps up Pokemon Unite’s Held and Battle Items. Want to learn about other game mechanics or tricks to improve your in-game experience? Feel free to check back here for more Pokemon Unite guides.

How to Get Holowear Tickets in Pokemon Unite https://www.gameskinny.com/vp5bk/how-to-get-holowear-tickets-in-pokemon-unite https://www.gameskinny.com/vp5bk/how-to-get-holowear-tickets-in-pokemon-unite Fri, 23 Jul 2021 15:55:52 -0400 Kenneth Seward Jr.

Let’s face it. As entertaining as it is to play Pokemon Unite play with and against friends, the one thing we’re all hyped about is... seeing Snorlax sporting summer wear. Seriously, who doesn’t want to see Garchomp rocking a snorkel or Machamp in some dope shorts?

Similar to other MOBAs, Pokemon Unite has a variety of skins for players to either buy or unlock. Purchasing them with real money is a simple enough. Using the different in-game currencies can be a bit confusing. Especially when it comes to Pokemon Unite’s Holowear Tickets.

What are Holowear Tickets?

The Holowear Tickets screen at the Zirco Trading shop in Pokemon Unite.

Holowear Tickets are one of Pokemon Unite's in-game currencies that’s used to unlock Holowear Pokemon skins.

Once you get Holowear Tickets, head over to the Zirco Trading shop to buy some of these items. The best of the best will require Aeos Gems (purchased with real money) of course. The current selection that can be unlocked via Holowear Tickets is solid, though.

How to Get Holowear Tickets

Exchanging energy rewards for holowear tickets in Pokemon Unite.

Holowear Tickets are rare.

There are no challenges, daily or otherwise, that’ll net you any. And you can’t get them by leveling up your trainer or winning matches. As of right now, there are only two ways to get Holowear Tickets and neither is ideal.

The best way to get Holowear Tickets is to use the Energy Rewards system. There is an energy conversion machine housed in a menu on the right side of the start screen. Click the icon right above the “search lobby” button.

Once there, you’ll be able to convert energy you’ve obtained (by playing matches) into random rewards. One of those rewards is a bundle of Holowear Tickets. Unfortunately, you only get 10 tickets at a time this way.

The second way to get Holowear Tickets is to purchase and complete the Battle Pass. You’ll get a prize box offering tickets once you’ve maxed out the pass. After that, you’ll get another Prize Box every 130 points post your max level.

The holowear option tab for Machamp, showing the Beach Style skin.

Though Nintendo wants players to spend money on Pokemon skins, the way Holowear Tickets are obtained is a little annoying. It would be better if players got a few tickets here and there as they completed the Battle Pass or the Energy system provided more tickets at a time, since the cheapest skin costs 18 tickets—  and it’s unfortunately, not for Snorlax.

There’s also the issue of owning the Pokemon.

As of right now, you can’t purchase a cool skin for a Pokemon you don’t own. And since the shop rotates what is or isn’t available, it’s possible that you won’t be able to buy the skin you want after getting the required tickets. Thankfully, there are other ways to unlock Holowear skins.

Pokemon Unite is still a fun game to play. Even with the confusing in-game currencies. Now that you know how to get Holowear Tickets, hopefully, you'll be able to get the skins you're after! Be sure to check back here for more Pokemon Unite guides.

How to Unlock Zeraora in Pokemon Unite https://www.gameskinny.com/d6jkp/how-to-unlock-zeraora-in-pokemon-unite https://www.gameskinny.com/d6jkp/how-to-unlock-zeraora-in-pokemon-unite Fri, 23 Jul 2021 14:50:24 -0400 Kenneth Seward Jr.

The most appealing aspect of Pokemon Unite, besides its interesting twist on the genre, are the Pokemon themselves. The game includes a bunch of fan favorites like Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, and Lucario. It also includes some newer additions, such as Zeraora.

Some Pokemon will need to be captured unlocked using in-game/real currency. Others can be won by completing various challenges. But how do you unlock the speedster Zeraora?

Zeraora selection screen.

Zeraora is being offered as a free reward to anyone who logs onto Pokemon Unite before August 31.

Just download the free-to-play game via the Nintendo eShop, create your trainer, and boom — one free Zeraora to add to your roster.

Note: If you’re waiting for Pokemon Unite to launch on iOS and Android smartphones later this year, don’t worry. The official Pokemon Unite Twitter account posted that mobile players will also be able to unlock Zeraora for free.

We assume it’ll be in the same fashion; download the game within a specified length of time and you’ll be good to go.

How to Claim Zeraora

How to claim Zeraora in the Pokemon Unite system messages menu.

All you have to do is log into Pokemon Unite to unlock Zeraora. They won’t immediately pop up in your Pokemon list though. You’ll need to claim them first.

This is done by hitting X on the start screen to pull up a side menu. From here, you’ll need to scroll down to “Mail” and click “System Messages”.

Click on the message titled “Launch Bonus” and claim Zeraora’s Unite license to unlock the Pokemon for use. Head back to the main screen and check your roster. Zeraora should be there waiting to be taken into battle.

Zeraora is a solid speedster — assassin-like melee character — whose lightning attacks are as cool as they are powerful. Everyone should add them to their roster as soon as possible.

And there you have it: how to unlock Zeraora in Pokemon Unite. Now you have a free Pokemon to get you started in this great introduction to MOBAs. Stay tuned for more Pokemon Unite guides.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl Release Dates Announced https://www.gameskinny.com/uj0fg/pokemon-brilliant-diamond-shining-pearl-release-dates-announced https://www.gameskinny.com/uj0fg/pokemon-brilliant-diamond-shining-pearl-release-dates-announced Wed, 26 May 2021 10:48:32 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company shadow dropped the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl release date on Twitter ahead of E3 2021. Both games will release for Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2021, and Nintendo also announced a dual pack containing both games.

Unlike the Sword and Shield double pack, it appears the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl double pack won't feature a special steel case.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are re-imaginings of the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl released on Nintendo DS in 2007. The Pokemon Company first announced the games in a February Pokemon Direct, though shared few details on what new features we can expect from the remakes.

The recent announcement is no different, as TPC only shared the release dates and nothing further.

So far, we know the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Pokedex includes the entire Sinnoh Pokedex, as the originals did, though it's not clear if we'll see additional 'mon such as we did in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

TPC will likely share more soon, as they usually host a Pokemon Direct coinciding with E3.

New Pokemon Snap Illumina Orbs: How to Get Them https://www.gameskinny.com/cthsk/new-pokemon-snap-illumina-orbs-how-to-get-them https://www.gameskinny.com/cthsk/new-pokemon-snap-illumina-orbs-how-to-get-them Mon, 17 May 2021 11:21:50 -0400 StevenGreen

To make progress in New Pokemon Snap, you must meet certain criteria on each island to unlock other areas, times of day, and so on. One of those criteria you need to meet on each island is unlocking the New Pokemon Snap Illumina Orbs for that island.

Finding each of the New Pokemon Snap Illumnia Orbs is done simply by discovering an activated Crystabloom flower hiding somewhere on a course and photographing it for Professor Mirror. This will instantly gain you access to the throwable item, which in turn opens up new interactions, allowing for continued progress.

For this New Pokemon Snap guide, we will discuss where each Crystabloom flower is located and what you need to do to photograph it so you can unlock the associated Illumina Orb.

How to Unlock Each Island's Illumina Orbs

Florio Nature Park (Night)

Once you've unlocked the nighttime edition of the Nature Park course by getting to Level 2 on the daytime version, you'll want to head there to find the Crystabloom.

This is probably the easiest one to grab, as it's simply sitting there waiting for you at the end of the course in the flower field on the right-hand side, where you just snap a quick picture and move on. Illumina Orb complete!

Additionally, you can photograph the Crystabloom at the beginning of the Illumina Spot for Florio, but you'll gain access to this one sooner.

Belusylva Founja Jungle (Night)

We're once again looking for the night course for Belusylva's Founja Jungle, where it's almost as easy to get this Crystabloom as the first. Again, get to Level 2 on the Day course to unlock the Night version.

Once you've reached the final section of the course with the waterfall and pond on your left, you'll want to pay attention to the sleeping Quagsire sitting to the right side of the path.

Next to this Quagsire is the glowing Crystabloom for Belusylva. Grab a picture and move on! You can now use Illumina Orbs on each of the courses on Belusylva.

Maricopia  Lental Seafloor

This is where things get a little more interesting, as you must complete a few steps on other courses to get this one unlocked in the first place. You'll need to level up two courses to Level 2 in order to unlock this course — Blushing Beach (Day) and Maricopia Reef (Day).

Once you've done that, you'll start combing through the undersea depths where you'll find a hidden Crystabloom.

Before going down into the underwater cave where the Wailmer jettisons a Pyukumuku, you'll see a patch of seaweed to your right filled with Cradily and Lumineon.

There's a sleeping Lumineon in the back-middle of the seaweed. You'll need to hit it with a fluffruit so it moves, which will allow the glowing Crystabloom behind it to be photographed.

Voluca  Sweltering Sands (Night)

Returning to the original methods from the first two islands, simply make it to Level 2 on the Sweltering Sand (Day) map to unlock its nighttime edition.

From there you'll enter the Night course and continue down the intended path (don't take the course deviation to the left) and before you fall down into the area with the sleeping Onyx, look to the right along the cliffs.

You'll see the glowing Crystabloom as you begin to fall, so be ready for a quick shot or utilize your zoom once at the bottom to grab a shot and unlock Illumina Orbs for the Voluca region.

Durice  Shiver Snowfields (Night)

After unlocking the nighttime course by getting to Level 2 in the Shiver Snowfield (Day) course, you'll get about halfway through the course before finding this Crystabloom trying to hide.

After you climb up the steep snow hill, you'll enter the second section of the course and see a large crevice in front of you.

As you make your way around it, look down into it to see the glowing Crystabloom down below. Snapshot—Illumina Orb unlocked!

Aurus  Ruins of Remembrance

Once you've attained Level 2 in the Outaway Cave course, you'll unlock the ruins, where this Crystabloom is the easiest of them all to find.

At the beginning section, after the Edlegoss float by and you see the Houndoom running around, you'll want to pay attention to the right side of the course. Up on the cliff wall, you'll have your flower waiting to be photographed.

After you grab that picture, you will have unlocked all of the Illumina Orbs for New Pokémon Snap and can continue to work on finding all the interactions and alternate routes on your way to filling out your PhotoDex.

And that's how to get all of the New Pokemon Snap Illumina Orbs. For more on New Pokemon Snap, consider heading over to our guide hub for the game

New Pokemon Snap Features Online Leaderboards https://www.gameskinny.com/d21q1/new-pokemon-snap-features-online-leaderboards https://www.gameskinny.com/d21q1/new-pokemon-snap-features-online-leaderboards Fri, 26 Feb 2021 17:14:45 -0500 Josh Broadwell

The Pokemon Company teased some fresh new features in New Pokemon Snap as part of the Pokemon 25th anniversary celebrations, including glowing Pokemon and online leaderboards.

As with the original Pokemon Snap, the professor ranks photos based on quality and pose. Ace and budding Snap photographers alike can go online and post their favorite photos, and should these pics find favor with other players, they could be included in the game's featured photo roundup.

One way of increasing both a photo's points and the chance of shooting a popular pic is catching Pokemon doing unusual things. The latest New Pokemon Snap trailer showed the usual "throw fruit at Pokemon" option, but players can also attract Pokemon with music to encourage unique behavior.

Another option is using the new Illumina Orb item. Illumina Orbs have different effects depending on the Pokemon, but they all revolve around light. Swanna glows when it comes in contact with an Illumina Orb, while Cinderrace's fire gains an ethereal blue light.

Sometimes, though, it just comes down to luck and catching Pokemon doing rare and unusual things at the right time. New Pokemon Snap releases April 30 for Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Takes Trainers on an Open World Adventure https://www.gameskinny.com/i77xd/pokemon-legends-arceus-takes-trainers-on-an-open-world-adventure https://www.gameskinny.com/i77xd/pokemon-legends-arceus-takes-trainers-on-an-open-world-adventure Fri, 26 Feb 2021 12:18:40 -0500 Josh Broadwell

Game Freak and The Pokemon Company announced Pokemon Legends: Arceus as part of the Pokemon 25th anniversary celebrations. Pokemon Legends is an open-world action RPG set in the feudal past of Gen IV's Sinnoh region. Its planned release date is on Nintendo Switch in early 2022.

Pokemon Legends follows a young trainer on their journey set in the Sinnoh region as they create the area's first-ever Pokedex. As with most games in the series, the region's Pokemon expert sends players on their journey, but that's where the similarities seem to end.

Legends takes place in a growing village that acts as a hub area set in a never-before-seen area of Sinnoh. Players venture out to various parts of the world from there, and while there's plenty of Sinnoh Pokemon lurking in the wild, trainers won't just be finding Bidoof and Starly around every corner.

Pokemon Legends' starters pull from multiple generations, offering Gen II's Cyndaquil, Gen V's Oshawott, and Gen VII's Rowlet. Trainers can also ride, run, and fly across the world with their Pokemon.

The open world Pokemon game also seems to combine action elements with turn-based combat. The trailer showed trainers choosing some actions from a menu, while others — including catching Pokemon and dodging attacks — happen in real-time. This comes alongside news of two remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Pokemon Gen IV Remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Are Coming https://www.gameskinny.com/ne869/pokemon-gen-iv-remakes-brilliant-diamond-and-shining-pearl-are-coming https://www.gameskinny.com/ne869/pokemon-gen-iv-remakes-brilliant-diamond-and-shining-pearl-are-coming Fri, 26 Feb 2021 12:17:45 -0500 Josh Broadwell

The Pokemon Company announced Gen IV remakes Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl during the Pokemon 25th anniversary Pokemon Presents stream. Both games will release worldwide on Nintendo Switch in late 2021 and have outside developer ILCA at the helm, rather than Game Freak.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl re-create Gen IV's Sinnoh region with enhanced lighting and visuals while remaining true to the original region layout. While rumors suggested these Gen IV remakes would be in the same vein as Pokemon Let's GO, that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Pokemon don't roam the landscape, and the capture system resembles the traditional Pokemon style of selecting and hurling a ball instead of using Let's GO's timed button press system. Both games also use a more refined graphics style similar to the Link's Awakening remake.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will include the entire Sinnoh Pokedex. Whether they'll also include Pokemon from later entries, as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire did and what changes they might make to the story are still uncertain. This comes alongside news of the upcoming open world RPG, Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Pokemon Masters EX Dishes Up Sweet Treats for Valentine's Day https://www.gameskinny.com/gz2q2/pokemon-masters-ex-dishes-up-sweet-treats-for-valentines-day https://www.gameskinny.com/gz2q2/pokemon-masters-ex-dishes-up-sweet-treats-for-valentines-day Fri, 29 Jan 2021 13:46:32 -0500 Josh Broadwell

Valentine's Day is approaching fast, and in Pokemon Masters EX, that means it's time for sweet treats and new Sync Pairs in the Palentine's Day event.

Palentine's Day is when Pasio trainers shower their human and Pokemon friends with desserts in the Baking Buddies story event now through February 18. Baking Buddies tasks players who've completed at least chapter one with finding dessert ingredients for Serena and Dawn, both of whom feature in special dessert-themed outfits.

Completing the event rewards players with food items such as Melty Chocolate, Fresh Berry, Fluffy Frosting, and more. Logging in daily for 13 days in a row during the event also earns players 1,000 Gems to spend on Sync Pairs.

Speaking of Sync Pairs, the Pokemon Masters' Palentines Day event adds two new Sync Pairs to the Sync Pair Spotlight mechanic. The first, available from now until February 18, is Serena and Whimsicott, with Stun Spore as Whimsicott's signature move. The second, live from January 31 through February 18, is Dawn and Alcremie, with a focus on Charm and Fake Tears.

Both new Sync Pairs feature their respective characters' dessert outfits and both can reach a 6-star EX Potential rating.

Hoenn Takes the Spotlight in New Pokemon GO Event https://www.gameskinny.com/cfam6/hoenn-takes-the-spotlight-in-new-pokemon-go-event https://www.gameskinny.com/cfam6/hoenn-takes-the-spotlight-in-new-pokemon-go-event Thu, 14 Jan 2021 15:36:21 -0500 Josh Broadwell

The Hoenn region is Pokemon GO's next stop on the countdown to the Kanto Tour. From January 19 at 10 a.m. local time through January 24 at the 8 p.m. local time, trainers can look forward to a number of Hoenn-themed Pokemon GO events, from Field Research tasks to legendary Pokemon and more.

Many iconic Hoenn Pokemon will appear more often during the event, including these:

  • Treecko
  • Torchic
  • Mudkip
  • Taillow
  • Loudred
  • Nosepass
  • Aron
  • Meditite
  • Roselia
  • Carvanha
  • Numel
  • Baltoy

Raids get a Hoenn makeover for the event. One star raids include:

  • Treecko
  • Torchic
  • Mudkip
  • Ralts
  • Aron
  • Bagon

Three star raids feature:

  • Grumpig
  • Breloom
  • Mawile
  • Spinda
  • Absol

And five star raids are where players can catch Hoenn's two flagship legendary Pokemon, Kyogre and Groudon.

The starters, Plusle, Minun, Wailmer, and Aron are the focus of special Field Research tasks, and the event also includes some Timed Research tasks revolving around Kyogre and Groudon. Completing the Timed Research tasks unlocks an encounter with a Rayquaza that knows Hurricane and may be Shiny Rayquaza.

Finally, any Metang that evolve (into Metagross) during the event will learn Meteor Mash, a move that was once a Community Day exclusive.

Johto takes the spotlight after Hoenn leaves, so stay tuned for more Pokemon GO news.

Bust out the Lumoise Galette, 'cause Kalos is coming to Pokemon GO.

Niantic is running a special event from now until December 8 at 10 p.m. to introduce Gen VI Pokemon in Pokemon GO, with increased chances of encountering certain 'mon in Eggs, Raids, and wild encounters.

During the event, Trainers have higher chances of encountering Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Bunnelby, Fletchling, Litleo, and Noibat in the wild.

Klefki will also appear in the wild, but only in France (though some of us won't complain about that).

All these Pokemon will still appear in the wild after the event, just with normal encounter rates.

The Egg part of the event includes new Pokemon hatching from all three Egg types.

  • 2km Eggs: Bunnelby, Fletchling, and Litleo
  • 5km Eggs: Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie
  • 10km Eggs: Espurr and Noibat

As with the wild Pokemon, all these will still be potential hatchlings once the event ends.

Finally, Litleo and Espurr will show up in special one-star Raids.

As always with new events, the Kalos Pokemon GO event adds special Timed and Field Research tasks where Trainers can encounter Bunnelby and Fletchling and get Mega Energy for Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur as a reward.

Prepare for Double the Challenge in Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra https://www.gameskinny.com/ja9lq/prepare-for-double-the-challenge-in-pokemon-sword-and-shield-crown-tundra https://www.gameskinny.com/ja9lq/prepare-for-double-the-challenge-in-pokemon-sword-and-shield-crown-tundra Wed, 21 Oct 2020 15:58:23 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra has plenty of challenge and variety in store if early previews are any indication. The second part of the Sword and Shield Expansion Pass shakes things up with Dynamax Adventures and the ultra-difficult Galarian Star Tournament.

We knew about these features before, but IGN's preview of them goes more in-depth. Dynamax Adventure rewards players not just with legendary Pokemon, but with items like the nature-changing items so hard to find in the main game.

The rest of Dynamax Adventure is as advertised. It's a team effort with three other players or NPCs using rented Pokemon. The goal is facing off against powerful Dynamaxed Pokemon to reach the back of the Den, where a legendary awaits.

Players can choose which Pokemon they want to battle against and can swap out their rented ones at certain points as well. Arceus willing, there will be few to no Isabellas with Magikarp dragging everyone else down.

Finishing Crown Tundra's story, which revolves around new Pokemon Calyrex, is just the start. Players will need to complete Isle of Armor's story and the main game's story to unlock the Galarian Star Tournament. Here, they can challenge Galar's finest, including the Elite Four, Gym Leaders, and other key trainers.

The Tournament reportedly offers new insight into these characters, though previews didn't show what that insight might be like.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra releases October 22. If you haven't downloaded the Expansion Pass already, don't forget to choose the version that corresponds with your game.

Scare Up Some Treats in Pokemon GO's Catch Mastery Ghost Event https://www.gameskinny.com/w6xin/scare-up-some-treats-in-pokemon-gos-catch-mastery-ghost-event https://www.gameskinny.com/w6xin/scare-up-some-treats-in-pokemon-gos-catch-mastery-ghost-event Tue, 20 Oct 2020 13:01:57 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Pokemon GO is hosting a new event in time for Halloween, the Catch Mastery: Ghost event. It runs from October 25 at 8 a.m. local time to 10 p.m. local time on the same day, and it's part of Pokemon GO's wider Halloween festivities.

During the Catch Mastery: Ghost event, players will encounter Drifloon in the wild more often than usual, and there's a chance it might even be a Shiny Drifloon.

Those who completed the Pokemon GO Mega Buddy Event during September can take on special Field Research tasks to encounter even more Ghost Pokemon and earn Gengar Mega Energy in the process. Pokemon need Mega Energy to Mega Evolve in Pokemon GO, and it's normally available just in special Raids.

Aside from the Mega Buddy-related tasks, the Catch Mastery: Ghost event features event-exclusive Timed Research anyone can take part in.

Finally, there's extra XP on offer for all Pokemon catches with Nice, Great, Excellent, and Curveball throws.

This is just one of the treats in store for Pokemon GO's Halloween event, with special Raids, legendary Pokemon, costumes, and more on offer from October 23 through November 3.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra Releases in October https://www.gameskinny.com/lucg2/pokemon-sword-and-shield-crown-tundra-releases-in-october https://www.gameskinny.com/lucg2/pokemon-sword-and-shield-crown-tundra-releases-in-october Tue, 29 Sep 2020 11:17:39 -0400 Josh Broadwell

Pokemon Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra expansion finally has a release date and a shiny new trailer. The second part of the Sword and Shield expansion pass releases October 22, bringing every Legendary Pokemon in the series to Galar.

Crown Tundra tasks players with exploring the region's overworld and delving into mysterious Pokemon Dens. Unlike in the main game, these investigations involve navigating inside the Dens.

In the Dynamax Adventure mode, players head inside Dens and encounter numerous Dynamax Pokemon in a bid to reach the end where a Legendary Pokemon awaits. Like other Dynamax battles, these involve three other people, but everyone uses rental Pokemon.

After winning the battle, one trainer can swap a rental Pokemon for the one they just caught. Losing kicks the whole team out of the Den.

In true Pokemon fashion, the Legendary Pokemon encountered in these Dens varies depending on the version of the game, though The Pokemon Company hasn't announced which Legendary Pokemon are exclusive to Sword and Shield.

There's more to Crown Tundra than crawling around in Dens, though. Back on the Galar mainland, trainers can take part in the Galarian Star Tournament. It's a multi-part competition where players choose a battle partner from among the Leaders and Elite Four members encountered in the main game and face off against Galar's finest.

Last is the Ability Patch. It's a rare item that, when used, brings out a Pokemon's Hidden Ability (assuming they have one). Combined with Max Soup from the Isle of Armor, the Ability Patch can bring out a Pokemon's true potential, including the three starter Pokemon.

Speaking of the Isle of Armor, those with a special Slowpoke from the Isle can evolve it into Galarian Slowking in the Crown Tundra. It's a Poison/Psychic like Galarian Slowking, with a new move called Eerie Spell — damages and reduces the foe's PP — and a new ability named Curious Medicine that resets allies' stat changes.

Pokemon Sword and Shield The Crown Tundra releases October 22 in the U.S. Bundle versions of the games with their respective expansion passes will launch on November 6.

Oh Lawd, He Comin': Snorlax Heads to Pokemon Cafe Mix https://www.gameskinny.com/bx33a/oh-lawd-he-comin-snorlax-heads-to-pokemon-cafe-mix https://www.gameskinny.com/bx33a/oh-lawd-he-comin-snorlax-heads-to-pokemon-cafe-mix Thu, 24 Sep 2020 11:53:22 -0400 Josh Broadwell

New visitors and events are coming to Pokemon Café Mix. Players can order up team challenges with new co-workers and, from September 24 through October 8, possibly entice a hungry Snorlax to their café.

The event running from September 24 until October 8, introduces Snorlax to the game. Players can work to get Snorlax on their good side in the hopes of convincing it to join the café staff. If it does join, Snorlax's special ability is clearing away icons and gimmicks beneath it.

If that's not enough Snorlax to sate the appetite, there's a Snorlax Maniac Pikachu available for purchase (using real money) in the shop.

Team challenges are a new feature in Pokemon Café Mix and aren't going anywhere after October 8. Players create teams of up to 30 people, but these teams don't have to be drawn from existing friend lists. They can include anyone who wants to work together — for a cost.

Creating a team costs 300 Golden Acorns, and whoever creates the team is that team's captain. However, for a limited time — The Pokemon Company didn't say how long — creating a new team earns players a bonus of 300 Golden Acorns per team member.

If you're new to adding Pokémon to your team, we've got a rundown of every available Pokemon in Café Mix so far to help. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Pokemon Café Mix news as it develops.

6 Nintendo Franchises With Games That Somehow Aren't Switch Ports https://www.gameskinny.com/oc0al/6-nintendo-franchises-with-games-that-somehow-arent-switch-ports https://www.gameskinny.com/oc0al/6-nintendo-franchises-with-games-that-somehow-arent-switch-ports Tue, 01 Sep 2020 11:00:01 -0400 Ethan Anderson

Golden Sun

Surely, what Golden Sun fans want most is a sequel to the third game in the franchise. Sadly, that seems a bit unlikely at this point, even though fans haven't forgotten those games for even a second.

Golden Sun is an RPG series that started in 2001 on the Game Boy Advance. The second game came out the very next year on the very same handheld, while the third instalment launched on the DS in 2010.

The first two were made available on the Wii U, but it's time for all three to make their triumphant return on Nintendo Switch. If Nintendo started porting GBA and DS games to the Switch, they'd have an insane amount of classics to pull from.

Nintendo has so many beloved, older franchises tucked away, out of sight. It's time to bring the ones on this list, and so many others, back into the light. They've been slowly adding more games to the Switch's NES and SNES collection, but after three years, fans are looking for a bit more.

Which classic franchises would you like to see on the current-gen console? Let us know over on Twitter

It's honestly shocking that none of the past mainline Pokemon games have made it to the Nintendo Switch, even as ports.

The 3DS Virtual Console added Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold and Silver, and Crystal not too long ago, so mainline Pokemon ports aren't out of the question.

Even if Nintendo only brought back generations III to VI, fans would go wild. It's guaranteed money at this point.

With the portable nature of the Switch, those Pokemon classics could still be played on the go, just like the good old days. Except, in theory, they'd be able to have better online functionality if brought back today.

Fire Emblem

Currently, the only Fire Emblem games available on the Nintendo Switch are Fire Emblem Warriors, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. For a franchise that includes over 15 games, spanning from 1990 to the present, that isn't much of a selection.

3DS titles such as Echoes, Awakening, and even the annoyingly disconnected Fates would feel right at home on the Switch thanks to their portable origins. It might be asking for too much, but a few Fire Emblem titles from the GBA could also be ported, just like they were on the Wii U. The GameCube installments seem too far out of the realm of possibility, though.

Regardless, the return Fire Emblem's tactical RPG action and loveable casts could create tons of new fans while still managing to please the current ones who just want to comfortably replay old favorites.

Metroid Prime 4 has had quite the rough development process, but it's being worked on as we speak. The team is even still in the process of bringing in various new artists and leads.

It's probably safe to assume that, by the time it does launch, it'll be the first 3D Metroid game that some players can get their hands on without having to buy an older console. If the Wii U's Metroid Prime Trilogy bundle comes to the Switch, that issue will be solved.

The games in the trilogy supported both standard controllers and motion controls at different points, so the transition to the Switch's Pro Controller and Joy-Cons should be a smooth one.

New players will be able to catch up while returning fans get a much-needed refresher leading up to Metroid Prime 4.

Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel are some of the very best Mario games of all time. It'd be hard to find any Nintendo fan that would be disappointed if both games returned on the Switch.

Just like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Super Mario Galaxy was rumored to be on its way to the console. Though, it was thought to be coming as a remaster, instead of just a port.

The two-part series first began in 2007, with the sequel coming out three years later. It's been a while. However, the games' motion control features would fit perfectly with the Joy-Cons when playing at home, and who wouldn't want the option to play Super Mario Galaxy on the go, too? It's a no-brainer.

The Legend of Zelda

The 3D Zeldas should have some kind of presence on the Switch by now, if we're being honest. The Wii U Virtual Console had an amazing selection of Nintendo classics that included titles from the NES, N64, Game Boy Advance, and more. Numerous Zelda games were among them.

We're talking masterpieces like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask here — neither of which have made it to the Switch in its three years of being on the market.

Fans would no doubt pay to play those again on the Switch in a heartbeat. Let's not forget Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword as well. The latter even caused a stir when a port was rumored to be in the works.

A lot of the Nintendo franchises on this list are absolute no-brainers in terms of whether or not they should come to the Switch. If Nintendo decided to bring any of these older games forward to current-gen, it would likely be the same as printing money.

Fans are already clamoring for any bit of Direct news they can find that relates to Nintendo's first-party games. Just imagine what would happen if a port or remaster of anything on this list became a reality.

Read on to see six Nintendo franchises that need to come to the Switch ASAP.
