More Matches!

\n

Current WWE 2K games are trying to replicate the actual matches that happen in reality, like one-on-one, tag team, extreme rules, etc. But what if players want to experience a fun and creative match? Unfortunately, when WWE 2K15 came out, many unique matches like inferno matches, special guest referee matches, and more were taken out of the game.

\n

If those matches that were taken out were to be brought back in WWE 2K18, along with other matches like Buried Alive, casket match, barbed wire match, and others, fans would definitely have something to look forward to. There would be lots of possibilities with those matches, which could also increase replay value.

\n

---

\n

These are just a handful of things we want to see in this year's installment of the WWE 2K franchise. There are many other technicalities and mechanics that can be improved or enhanced, but the ones that are listed here are some of the basic ones, since they can greatly enhance the gameplay experience and make the game more authentic, interactive, and realistic. Even if at least one of these suggestions will be taken into consideration and implemented into the game, WWE 2K18 will surely become a much better title when compared to its modern predecessors.

\n

What other improvements and additions would you like to see in the upcoming WWE 2K18 game? Feel free to share in the comment section!

Make 'My Career Mode' More Fun and Meaningful

\n

When 'My Career' mode made its debut in WWE 2K15, it was a hot mess. Extremely boring and repetitive grinding made the mode extremely un-fun and dry all around. WWE 2K16 and 2K17 made improvements by adding things like backstage interviews, the ability to interfere in other wrestlers' matches, starting rivalries, and more. But that wasn't enough to make the whole mode feel authentic and make players feel like they were an actual WWE wrestler.

\n

One interesting way to improve 'My Career' mode in WWE 2K18 is to make it more engaging and interactive. Incorporate storylines, but with choices, somewhat similar to Telltale Games' series, where certain actions and responses will generate significant outcomes and consequences.

\n

For instance, ambush a wrestler during an important match and then feel free to either explain your actions or not, all while carefully planning out your next move. Something like that would make the gameplay more meaningful and interactive.

\n

It would be nice to create a female wrestler in 'My Career' mode and see how she'd do in the women's division.

Make Face Importing Easier/Simpler

\n

The NBA 2K games may have some face scanning horror stories. Sure, it might create monsters and abominations, but at least the face scanning feature is there -- unlike in WWE 2K games. After browsing the web, we managed to find videos that perfectly depict the tedious and unnecessary process of importing one's face into a WWE game (feel free to watch the video above).

\n

The process of taking a picture of your face, editing it in Photoshop, importing it to a website, and importing it into the game may not only waste players' time, but it may also make them quit the whole game.

\n

Why can't WWE games implement the face scanning feature that NBA games have? Just scan your face with the camera that corresponds with your system and you're good to go!

Undertaker Showcase

\n

WrestleMania 33 may have been The Undertaker's last match, but that doesn't mean that his legacy should be forgotten. Yes, this year's cover is Seth Rollins, and there might be some sort of showcase mode that will deal with him, but it would be nice to have Undertaker's legacy included somewhere as a "bonus" showcase mode.

\n

Even if you're not a wrestling fan, or stopped watching wrestling some time ago, chances are, you've heard of The Undertaker at some point in your life. The man is loved and respected by a lot of people, and he has achieved so much during his time in the WWF and WWE that not including him as a significant figure in WWE 2K18 will make things awkward and somewhat puzzling.

Better Commentary

\n

One major improvement that players want to see pertains to the commentary. Every year, we are told that the commentary has been slightly tweaked and beefed up with more lines and quotes. But the problem is that the in-game commentary isn't as great as its real-life counterpart. If you have played any of the past WWE 2K games and actually listened to the commentary, it's really bad.

\n

Some examples include:

\n
    \n
  • Not calling the action when it happens
  • \n
  • Repeating the same annoying and bland phrases over and over again
  • \n
  • Not being "emotional" enough when insane moves are pulled off
  • \n
\n

Improving the commentary and making it more believable and realistic will significantly help WWE 2K18 be a better game. Some ways to do that could include fixing and improving commentary tracks and trying to bring the commentary to the level of other 2K titles like NBA 2K.

Now that the latest entry in the WWE 2K games franchise, WWE 2K18, has been announced, wrestling fans have something to look forward to this October, especially if they are fans of Seth Rollins, who is on this year's cover.

\n

WWE 2K games have something new to offer every year, whether it's improvements to current mechanics or added features. For example, in WWE 2K15 and further on, players were able to go through 'My Career' mode by creating their own wrestler and making the journey through NXT to the Hall of Fame.

\n

It is fair, however, to point out that not all of the WWE 2K games are perfect. Each one has its flaws and has room for improvement. From boring and ridiculous storylines in 'My Career' mode to the awful commentary present during matches, there has yet to be a perfect modern title that captures the mood and the feel of real-life wrestling.

\n

Here, we talk about five things that could make WWE 2K18 a better game than those that came before it -- and how it will hopefully exceed its predecessors since the title follows the motto of #BeLikeNoOne.

WWE 2K16 gameplay details revealed at Gamescom https://www.gameskinny.com/39m1t/wwe-2k16-gameplay-details-revealed-at-gamescom https://www.gameskinny.com/39m1t/wwe-2k16-gameplay-details-revealed-at-gamescom Tue, 04 Aug 2015 11:39:56 -0400 Callum Wiggins

WWE 2K16 received its grand entrance at Gamescom, as details were revealed about the latest game in the long-running franchise for the first time. It was an exciting announcement for any fans of the world's biggest wrestling company and early signs indicate that this will be a major step up from it's incredibly disappointing predecessor WWE 2K15.

The previous incarnation of the franchise was praised for its graphics and realistic gameplay, but heavily criticized for its lack of added features, match types, and weak roster. WWE 2K15 was the developers' first crack at a brand new system on the latest generation of consoles, and it was rough around the edges.

It is beginning to sound like WWE 2K16 has been constructed to address those issues.

The biggest news is regarding the roster, which was already known to be 120 characters. What's important to know is that WWE 2K16 will have 120 unique characters, meaning no repeats or different versions of the same superstar, an issue littered throughout the previous game.

The game will also include a significant number of NXT superstars, including one of the highlighted names in the video previews, Finn Balor.

The gameplay additions made to WWE 2K15 are not only still in place, but have been enhanced in a big way. Wrestlers will now have an even wider variety of chain grapples to choose from, based on their size and ring style. Chain grapples will be impacted by a characters attribute rating, and ties would result in breaks and cheap parting shots at the opponent. More interesting is the ability to lock up within the match to regain stamina, in a similar manner to clinching in boxing video games.

However, the most notable change to the gameplay within matches is undoubtedly to the reversal system. The reversals in WWE video games have been a pet peeve of many players for years, as certain superstars were capable of reversing every move possible, especially on the hard difficulty settings.

Now, players will have a limited number of reversals that wear out and regenerate over time.

If you use them all the time, you will be waiting for one to return as your rival suplexes you all over the squared circle. Furthermore, reversals can also be made mid-move, and although these cost two of your precious reversal points, they have the capability to do serious damage and swing momentum right back in your favor. These additions certainly make it sound more like a true wrestling bout, getting into the flow of what fans witness on an episode of RAW.

As for the remaining announcements, the creative suites that were notoriously absent from WWE 2K15 will now return, much to the delight of many. WWE Universe mode and MyCareer will return in a much more refined state, although we will reserve judgement on both until the game is actually released.

Online mode is also being overhauled, an improvement that was sorely needed, and there will be no loading screens in between entrances anymore. This will now allow the players to choose whether they attack the opponent during their entrance. It is cheap move that would prove effective, but hopefully that doesn't translate over to the online mode, because that may become annoyingly exploitative.

Overall, WWE 2K16 looks to have taken the lessons and failings from their previous effort and crafted a game that looks more like a WWE simulation game. The reversal update especially remedies a problem that has plagued the franchise for the longest time, and, with any luck, 2K Game will return to championship form inside the ring.

Leaked WWE 2K16 Commentary Hints at "Stone Cold" Mode https://www.gameskinny.com/m9zm0/leaked-wwe-2k16-commentary-hints-at-stone-cold-mode https://www.gameskinny.com/m9zm0/leaked-wwe-2k16-commentary-hints-at-stone-cold-mode Mon, 08 Jun 2015 07:05:16 -0400 Curtis Dillon

It's that time of year again when we start getting news about the next WWE game. Usually, we get roster leaks or some motion-capture tweets but this year the commentary has leaked.

The video was uploaded to YouTube which showed Jerry "The King" Lawler and Jim Ross recording lines for a new mode in WWE 2k16 a mode based on Stone Cold Steve Austin's illustrious career it seems. Check out the video below.

Ross and Lawler frequently lend their voices to the games for the very popular historic modes. It began with WWE 13, in which fans could relive the greatest time period in wrestling via the Attitude Era mode. Then the series moved from THQ to 2K and that publishers first game, WWE 2K14, featured a similar mode with "The 30 Years of WrestleMania."

The first next-gen WWE game came last year with 2K15, which was deemed a disappointment to best. While the graphics got a nice overhaul (for select superstars) the "Career Mode" was incredibly empty and repetitive. Especially considering a similar career mode had been achieved in the PS2 Smackdown games. As well as that mode there was a new "2K Showcase" mode, which allowed you to play out a few classic rivalries.

The Classic Duo Reunite for 2K16

Seeing as how popular these historic modes are with fans, it was inevitable 2K16 would go back to that well. However, it's nice to see them really focus in on the career of a single superstar, the most popular of all-time, rather than attempt to tell an entire era in a few hours.

The only problem with a Stone Cold mode is the fact that we've all played most of the iconic Rattlesnake moments, from reversing that Sweet Chin Music into a Stunner and winning the WWE Championship, to beating The Rock at WrestleMania, and everything in between. Hopefully 2K manages to make this mode feel fresh and exciting.

WWEK 2K16 is set to release on October 27th, as is customary, so expect lots of news to release about the game in the coming weeks and months. What do you think of a potential Stone Cold mode? IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK! Only kidding, let us know exactly what you think in the comments below!

Leather Face Glitch

\n

We're afraid of what we don't understand which makes this Mafia II glitch scary at first glance. One minute you're talking to a sweet old Italian lady and the next thing you know you're talking to what looks like a mannequin.

\n

It really isn't that bad if you realize what you're looking at though. The glitch is a simple texture swap which causes the leather jacket to overlap the skin of the old woman's face for a few seconds. Unlike other glitches, this one fixes pretty quickly.

If you thought the Fallout 3 head glitches were terrifying than you're going to absolutely get a scare out of these reanimated NPC's. The glitch occurs when you've killed an NPC, save your game, and reload it. Ah, the video game glitch.

\n

Every gamer's worst nightmare at least, when it messes up the progress of your game. Other than, it is usually just a few seconds of creepy. And boy do I mean creepy.

Who knew the sudden distortion of 3D polygons could be so scary? It is even scarier when it is in a game not meant to have you covering your eyes.

\n

Despite what we may think, game developers aren't perfect and neither are the games they create which means every once in a while there will be a hiccup in the system. Unfortunately, sometimes those little hiccups turn into a 'kill it with fire' moment.

\n

There are happy accidents and then there are 'what did I just witness accidents.' Check out these glitches that unintentionally turned our games over to the dark side.

The longest run for a racing video game on top-selling charts?

Gran Turismo 5 spent 155 weeks on VGChartz's 75 top-selling video game rundown, ending on November 9, 2013.

Just a month later, Gran Turismo 6 would take top spot on VGChartz's list of top-selling video games.

Tell 2K Games What You Want in WWE 2K16: Here's Your Chance https://www.gameskinny.com/tc646/tell-2k-games-what-you-want-in-wwe-2k16-heres-your-chance https://www.gameskinny.com/tc646/tell-2k-games-what-you-want-in-wwe-2k16-heres-your-chance Wed, 11 Feb 2015 06:32:25 -0500 WesleyG

The WWE games are to wrestling fans as Madden games are to football fans. Every year, like clockwork, another one comes out with updated rosters and a couple of new features like a new grapple system or game mode. Last year's iteration, WWE 2K15, tried to make the jump to next-gen and fell a bit short, cutting out a lot of content in all versions of the game while adding very little.

Fans have been vocal about their disappointment with the game.

Luckily, 2K Games is eager for feedback

Last week 2K Games launched the WWE 2K 2014-15 Feedback Project forum dedicated to seeing what people want in WWE 2K16. The forum topics all range from broad concepts like "Gameplay" and "New Features" all the way to specific modes like MyCareer and 2K Showcase.

While we have yet to see what suggestions (if any) 2K Games will take to heart since no information on WWE 2K16 will be announced for a few months, it's always nice to see a game company taking steps to reach out to its community.

Speaking of wrestling wishlists, check back out GameSkinny later this week to see the Top 10 things I want to see in WWE 2K16.

WWE 2K15 Review https://www.gameskinny.com/gxz1o/wwe-2k15-review https://www.gameskinny.com/gxz1o/wwe-2k15-review Mon, 24 Nov 2014 11:45:55 -0500 Matt_Paprocki

Wrestlers used to bleed. They cut themselves with hidden razor blades and dripped blood endlessly on a lightly colored mat to sell an illusion.

Pro wrestling has certainly changed. We are amidst the PG-era, a time when WWE has turned away from steel chairs colliding with skulls and blood is greeted with panic. Referees need medically correct rubber gloves if fluids begin to spurt.

Replacing that old school violence is a modern obsession with social interaction. Creating a character in WWE 2K15 is more than monitoring eye lines, sizing up eyebrows, and playing dress up. Your make believe Twitter handle is of equal importance.

Fightin' Words

It's all inescapably meta - “fake” sport blending with a “fake” video game creating “fake” social media presence. Beginning in the basement drama of WWE Network's grappling goldmine NXT, created superstars rank up with wins, as if a loss isn't determined by corporate mandates or the ebbs and flows of soap opera storytelling.

So much of this celebrates WWE's power. It's a vision of capitalism from the titanic capitalist Vince McMahon: Fans are drenched in overpriced neon shirts decorated with wrestler phrases, they chant in unison, become part of the show, and sit enthralled as razzle dazzle video packages burn onto a projected video screen larger than some small countries - which in turn touts real world sponsors. It's just like TV, only here you pay $60 to simulate the simulation.

Reality in the fiction is almost grotesque. Why are DLC season passes available if WWE 2K15 is linked to advertisers like Redbox and Twitter? Why, even in interactive form, are hashtags burned into virtual HD broadcasts, luring users into conducting ad promotions? Those ad dollars appear to go everywhere other than reduced content prices. Tagline: “Buy more content while selling ours.”

Ce-Nation

John Cena represents modern sports entertainment. A bulky, neon-band wearing brute in outmoded jean shorts who has commendably turned into a Make-a-Wish celebrity icon. He's perfect. That's what WWE wants. Perfect sells.

But, perfection is not what WWE is receiving here. Cena stands postured as 2K15's cover star, promising cleanliness and good natured battles. Then WWE Divas enter the ring as sexcapade fodder, with broken ringside commentary routines gawking at their mere existence. It happens on cable too, as if that is any reasonable excuse. WWE's treatment of “family friendly” is odd and not particularly progressive anywhere other than they're finance-sucking abilities. They're on top of that; WWE 2K15 is proof.

Slightly Disputed Intercontinental Champ

WWE 2K15 is still awkward, even unmanageable. Baby steps, apparently. Frequent collisions are wonky, freshly introduced grappling systems are tiring, and a reduction in modes is catastrophic to WWE 2K15's outward facing value.

New publisher 2K used to be the wise ones; NBA and former NHL franchises were notably complete upon console arrivals. The streak has ended.

WWE 2K15 is not untouched, rather lightly tweaked. Yukes has massaged and matured an engine once laughably phony into one which obeys gravity. Five hundred pound athletes no longer pinball bounce on the mat when thrown and new found stability grounds the totally not steroid laced (but totally steroid laced) combatants to the mat. Punches are heavy, movements are deliberate, and speed is likewise reduced. Suddenly, WWE 2K15 is lingering ever nearer to the vaunted pace of Nintendo 64 giant No Mercy.

Since No Mercy, the label of “sports entertainment” has dissolved the moniker “pro wrestling.” Part of it is a change in perception. Pro wrestling, the terminology, forever holds the negative connotations of a stereotypical hillbilly diversion. WWE 2K15, artificial sport or not, is part of a new line. If it's sport, it can be sold as such - yearly - at full price with minimal upkeep. Those higher-ups are long term thinkers, and WWE 2K15 is just a short term gain.

WWE 2K15 Released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America https://www.gameskinny.com/p9duq/wwe-2k15-released-for-xbox-360-and-playstation-3-in-north-america https://www.gameskinny.com/p9duq/wwe-2k15-released-for-xbox-360-and-playstation-3-in-north-america Tue, 28 Oct 2014 07:34:36 -0400 Game Oracle

WWE 2K15 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles is available across North America today. Gamers around the world desiring a port for one of these consoles will have to wait until Halloween night, October 31, 2014 to get their copy of this highly anticipated wrestling video game.

http://i.ytimg.com/vi/mc3R5o0MmXU/maxresdefault.jpg

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 ports include the NTX superstar mode, which allows players to unlock specific wrestling heroes and the moves that made them famous. According to 2K Sports the roster of available wrestling superstars is the same on all consoles, so other than the newer MyCareer mode not being available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, the game should essentially have the same content.

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players have to wait a little longer to play their favorite wrestling video game. 2K sports recently announced the arrival date of the ports for these consoles is now November 18, 2014 for North American gamers and November 21 for players around the world.

WWE 2K15 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 includes the MyCareer mode, which allows players to create a superstar and then fight their way to the WWE Championship. This option is highly anticipated by gamers and hopefully it takes the experience to the next level.

WWE 2K14 provided hours of fun and interactive entertainment and I expect WWE 2K15 to take the experience further. If you love playing video games and watching wrestling on television, give it a try.

John Cena Selected to Curate WWE 2K15 Soundtrack https://www.gameskinny.com/byb71/john-cena-selected-to-curate-wwe-2k15-soundtrack https://www.gameskinny.com/byb71/john-cena-selected-to-curate-wwe-2k15-soundtrack Mon, 13 Oct 2014 19:09:28 -0400 Chris_Lemus

Following the steps of what 2K Games did with their NBA video game soundtracks, WWE 2K15 will feature a curation of music by a known celebrity.

This time, the game will stay true to wrestling and use 15-time world champion John Cena, who will be selecting from a range of genres.

"Reaching across many genres of music to some of my friends and those who have worked with WWE, I truly believe that gamers will become avid listeners of these songs," Cena said.

A collection of 12 songs were picked by the wrestler, who grew up training with rock music at Hard Nocks gym in Massachusetts and eventually created a platinum-selling rap album titled “You Can’t See Me” in 2005.

Some of the artists Cena selected for the game include Avenged Sevenfold, Rise Against, and Florida Georgia Line. Those artists will not be featured on the companion soundtrack, which also features music from the game by musical acts like Flo Rida, Knife Party, and Royal Blood.

In addition to the music Cena selected, he will also include two new songs he created with grammy nominated rapper Wiz Khalifa called “All Day” and “Breaks” on the companion soundtrack.

“It was very cool to work with Wiz Khalifa and combine my East Coast style of flow and his laid back West Coast vibe,” Cena wrote in an email to Billboard. “Wiz and I are both are so dedicated to our craft that we never stop hustling to give our fans more, that is what the song (‘All Day’) is about.“

WWE 2K15 will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Oct. 28. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version will be released on Nov. 18, with the Microsoft Windows release following on No. 21. The companion soundtrack will be released Oct. 21 on iTunes.

Next Gen Versions of WWE 2K15 Delayed https://www.gameskinny.com/hzoof/next-gen-versions-of-wwe-2k15-delayed https://www.gameskinny.com/hzoof/next-gen-versions-of-wwe-2k15-delayed Tue, 16 Sep 2014 16:09:20 -0400 WesleyG

It looks like wrestling fans who own a PS4 or an Xbox One will be waiting a bit longer than their Xbox 360/PS3 counterparts. 2K Sports announced today that that the next-gen versions of WWE 2K15 will be delayed until November 18th.

When reached for comment, the game's developer was vague at best about why the delay was necessary.

"Visual Concepts and Yuke's are committed to delivering the most authentic and action-packed WWE experience to date, including release for the very first time on next-generation consoles," said Visual Concepts president Greg Thomas in a statement.

"The additional development time enables our talented teams to ensure the WWE 2K15 next-gen experience fully meets our expectations."

It's worth noting that former WWE wrestler CM Punk has begun "legal discussions" with WWE over a range of issues, including his appearance in WWE 2K15. There has been some speculation that these discussions could end with Punk's likeness being removed from the game, though it seems unlikely to be the cause of the delay since that would include a delay in the current gen versions as well.

The developer's suggestion that the Xbox One and PS4 versions will be delayed to "fully meet our expectations" could be in reference to the backlash over 2K Sports last next-gen release, NHL 15, meeting criticism over its lack of features. The complete lack of official gameplay videos support the idea that the game might be far from ready, including strange videos like ones of Seth Rollins playing the game, but with no actual footage of the game itself

WWE 2K15 is still slated for an October 28th release for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Most Anticipated Games of 2014 https://www.gameskinny.com/1bvr0/most-anticipated-games-of-2014 https://www.gameskinny.com/1bvr0/most-anticipated-games-of-2014 Sun, 07 Sep 2014 11:00:54 -0400 Eric Nicolai

With a massive amount of retail games coming out in 2014 and early 2015, I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to compile a list of the top games on gamer's radars. Please note that as bias as it is I have left out Nintendo console and handhelds along with PC.

September has a small list of games coming out, on top of this list is one that launches this Tuesday a small title called Destiny; I won't go into much detail about this, as anyone that isn't living under a rock knows a good amount about it.  The only thing I would like to touch on is that if you buy Destiny digitally on last-gen consoles, Bungie is offering a free upgrade to next gen and you get to keep both copies. NHL is another title, although ranking low on my list, that will be high on people's lists.

September 9

Destiny (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

NHL 15 (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

September 23

FIFA 15 (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

At the end of September comes yet another big title: Shadow of Mordor. This title stands out on this launch week for me.

September 30

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

Persona 4: Arena Ultimax (PS3 and 360)

Forza Horizon 2 (360 AND X1)

Natural Doctrine (PS3, PS4, and VITA)

October has a huge lineup, which would have been bigger had Evolve not been pushed back. In this is includes three games that I have been anticipating for some time now: Evil Within, Lords of the Fallen, and Sunset Overdrive

October 7

Driveclub (PS4)

Project Spark (X1)

NBA 2K15 (PS3 and 360)

Alien Isolation (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

October 14:

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (360 and PS3)

The Evil Within (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

October 28

Lords of the Fallen (PS4 and X1)

Sunset Overdrive (X1)

WWE 2K15 (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

November holds a couple iconic games that have marched their ways into players hearts and ranking among the best franchises of their time, We have yet another Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed.

November 4

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

November 11

Assassin's Creed: Unity (X1 and PS4)

Assassin's Creed: Rogue (PS3 and 360)

The Crew (360, PS4, and X1)

Halo: The Master Chief Collection (X1)

November 18:

Dragon Age: Inquisition (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

Far Cry 4 (PS3, 360, PS4, and X1)

Little Big Planet 3 (PS3 and PS4)

December is a little lackluster for releases; however, with the amojnt of overwhelming games launched in the months prior, gamers will have more than enough to get them through the holidays. But just after the new year, there are a couple games that should be mentioned. Evolve was pushed to Q1 of 2015 and the PS4 exclusive Bloodborne has been announced for it's Japanese launch in February, leading us to believe that US launch is shortly after that. Also around the corner is MK: X.

In short this game season is going to be awesome and expensive.

Sting Makes WWE Debut as Pre-Order Bonus in WWE 2k15 https://www.gameskinny.com/hz6q1/sting-makes-wwe-debut-as-pre-order-bonus-in-wwe-2k15 https://www.gameskinny.com/hz6q1/sting-makes-wwe-debut-as-pre-order-bonus-in-wwe-2k15 Tue, 15 Jul 2014 12:16:15 -0400 Erik Greeny

Sting fans will no longer be forced to rely on the Create-A-Wrestler tool, as 2K Sports announced on Tuesday that the former WCW superstar will finally be making an official appearance in a WWE game.

In an effort to boost pre-order sales, the studio is offering up “two generations worth” of Sting as DLC to those who buy WWE 2K15 before its October 28th release date. To those unfamiliar with one of the biggest wrestling stars of the 90’s, Sting had long been considered by fans to be the biggest star in the industry that never worked with the WWE.

Sting joined WCW back in 1987, which at the time was the biggest competition the WWE (WWF at the time) had ever faced. During the Monday Night Wars where WCW and WWE went head-to-head on a weekly basis, Sting was one of a handful of stars that stayed with one company the entire time. When WCW finally folded in 2001, he opted to join a small promotion rather than join forces with the WWE.

Sting would go on to sign a contract with TNA in 2003 and wrestle there for 11 years before finally announcing his retirement in February at the age of 54. Two months later, Sting made his first official appearance on WWE programming after nearly 30 years in the business in order to pay tribute to his late tag team partner, The Ultimate Warrior.

This year’s installment of the series will be the first one fully handled by 2K Sports; the studio took control of the license from THQ last year when WWE 2K14 was already past the developing stages. It will be available for PS3, PS4, XBOX 360, and XBOX One on October 28th in North America, and on October 31st in Europe.
