Windows 8? Revolutionary? I think not!

This is my review of the Windows 8 products by Microsoft. I own some of their products and I explain to you what they are like.

Windows 8: a revolutionary software for Microsoft’s PCs and laptops. But is it really something that everyone dreams of having? I, along with many other Windows 8 users, disagree.

Let’s start with the basic things. Windows 8 is hyped up to be software that will make a huge impact on technology and “change” the future. With the release of the Windows Surface, Microsoft decided it was time for a software upgrade. Featuring the new Internet Explorer 11, Windows 8 is supposed to make your experience fun and easy, hence their motto “Work easy, Play hard.” But is it really that easy?

I have the Windows Surface (the very first one) and I have to say, I am really impressed with the performance of such an outstanding little tablet–which has been modified to work like a computer. The graphics are just hands down incredible, and the touch screen is an amazing piece of art because of the enhanced touch sensors.

With two 720p HD cameras, front and rear-facing, and 31.5 W-h (up to 8 hours mixed activity, 7-15 days idle life), it seems like the Surface is definitely the technology of tomorrow. The one thing that is upsetting many is that it isn’t Windows 7 compatible. You are forced to use Windows 8. It is not that big of a hassle on this tablet/desktop, but it is on a regular desktop/laptop.

I also upgraded my laptop to Windows 8, thinking my productivity percentage would blast through the roof. As soon as I started using it, I was completely clueless due to the starting page where I can choose what I wanted to do. I was staring at it with a blank expression on my face.

I clicked on the desktop button and realized that it got me somewhere. I recognized the desktop and searched up videos on how to use Windows 8. At first, it was a pain in the neck, but then I started getting the hang of it.

Through the launch date and to this day, I still feel like I am having trouble with Windows 8. I didn’t like it the first time I got it, and I still don’t like it now. I miss the home button on the bottom left corner. Now I  have to right-click on god knows where to get to the start menu.

I realize I have been bashing on Windows 8 and how poorly Microsoft “upgraded” their software, but I’m sure Windows 8 has its good qualities. I just haven’t discovered them yet. Microsoft still has yet to convince me that their current launches of Windows 8 and Xbox One have some good in them.
