Speaking with VentureBeat, Yerli and David Adams, co-founder of Vigil and current head of Crytek USA, share some insight on how things just worked out. The shift between being unemployed and being hired by Crytek happened within only five days of THQ’s auction, and many were wondering how it came to be.

Yerli says he had considered bidding on the studio during the auction, but the games that were in development at Vigil “weren’t strategically fit” for his plans for Crytek. Once he heard that the team was laid off, he flew to Austin to discuss the future.

As it stands, there are currently no developers actively trying to grab the Darksiders IP. Platinum briefly mentioned an interest, but there has been no news on whether or not it will find a new home.

In the meantime, David Adams and his team are working at Crytek USA on a game that uses the CryEngine and is “going to be awesome.” There has been no word as to whether or not the team will continue the Crawler project they were working on under THQ.
