PS4 or Xbox One?

posted by (Columnist) 7 years ago

This has been the hot topic not only during the last week at E3, but over the last few months.

Where do you stand, and why?

PS4, then hopefully an Xbox One in 2 years or so.

    That's my plan too.

I am definitely on the PS4 side of this particular discussion, which kinda hurts. I've been an avid Xbox fan since the original console, but I just cannot endorse the decisions Microsoft has made regarding how the Xbox One operates and how much control it and Microsoft exert over the gamers who buy it. Also, having not had Netflix or cable television for almost five years, most of the all-in-one features of the console will not affect me at all.

Oh, and the little problem that I wouldn't be able to play the console without physically carrying it across the house at least once a day to check in so MS can believe I'm not playing games I shouldn't. No thanks.

Hopefully I'll get to the point where I own both, but for now, my eyes are set on the PS4. The only Xbox 1 exclusive I'm interested in so far is Below, by Capy games, and I really have a thing for indies--and it sounds like they're going to get a lot more love and respect over on the Sony side of things.

The only enjoyment I will get from the Xbox One is watching people argue over it. I'll probably end up getting a PS4 this year, stock willing, because indies and imports. Will likely be getting a Wii U over the summer for Monster Hunter 3U and Bayonetta 2.

    PC still da bes though.

Both, because I love all video games and I don't care what platform they're on.

I have no issue with the Xbox One since I'm always online, and I don't buy or sell used games. Bam, gimme.

I think they both look incredible.

    Sticking with my PC... :)

To clarify why... All new consoles and consoles from here on out are just trying to be PC's. Why get something that wants to be a PC... when I have my PC right here, and it works! Plus it only spies on me but so much.

    Same, doesn't seem worth it

I'll probably end up with both consoles, but yeah, the games I'm most excited to play are all coming to PC (or also coming to PC)

"it only spies on me but so much." Or maybe it's a really good spy, and we just don't know it. *Cue Doom Music*

i have been true to Sony since PS1 days and i have PS4 Pre-Ordered so im going with Sony because im not like other people who want to to be a bandwagon jumper or what ever you want to call it once i buy a Console no matter what brand it is i commit to it to the end til they decide to stop making consoles. like when PS2 was already out and Xbox came out i stayed with Sony and will continue too. sounds biased but i don't like M$ but i don't hate it either but still i don't jump on a bandwagon just because something else new comes along . now Next Gen of same Console whole nother ballgame. either way i like what the E3 showed off in terms of games as well .

I have preordered a Xbox one and plan on enjoying it fully. I don't listen to rumors and trust Microsoft to deliver a functioning fun filled system. It's in their best interest not to piss off gamers and they will give in to pressure

Xbox One. Microsoft products (including my phone) have been good to me.

X1 suits my tv and gamer needs.

We got a Wii U after Christmas and we've had a PS3 for a couple years, but most of our gaming these days takes place on our iPads or the computer. Neither the Xbox One or the PS4 really impressed me, but I'm less interested in specs and more interested in games with great stories or casual games.

Neither. I'm not saying I'm behind the times or anything, but I've only just discovered the PS3.
