The House of the Dead Remake is Coming to Nintendo Switch

The classic rail shooter is set to release later this year with updated graphics and controls.

The House of the Dead is finally getting the remake treatment, but it won’t be handled by Sega. Instead, it’s coming from publisher Forever Entertainment, which has published the likes of Green Hell and Phantom Doctrine, and Megapixel Studios, which developed the 2019 Panzer Dragoon: Remake.

The House of the Dead Remake is currently a Switch exclusive and was announced at the Big N’s most recent Indie Showcase on April 14. Right now, there’s no word if it will make its way to PC, PlayStation, or Xbox platforms.

The gameplay trailer below shows the remake in action, and while the graphics have been noticeably updated, they still harken back to the original game’s iconic style.

Right now, there’s no firm release date for The House of the Dead Remake; Forever Entertainment and Megapixel have only provided a 2021 window so far. The game’s official website is equally barebones (sans a few screenshots), but it does say that the game will stay “true to the original gameplay,” despite updated graphics and controls.

Fans of the classic rail shooter have been anxiously awaiting more news of a remake for some time. Rumors of a set of remakes reenvisioning The House of the Dead and The House of the Dead 2 appeared way back in 2019. Neither Forever Entertainment nor Megapixel mentioned The House of the Dead 2 in this latest announcement.

Stay tuned for more on The House of the Dead Remake as we learn it. We’ll be watching this one closely.
