Real life can be a drag sometimes. School. Work. Responsibility. Ugh.

It’s all a bit much sometimes. But that’s why we have games like Episodes to keep us in check. Because why live your life when you can control someone else’s?

Exactly! It’s much more fun to have control.

So, ranked from lowest to highest, here are five choose-your-own story mobile games that are similar to Episodes.

Campus Crush

If you liked Episodes, Campus Crush might just be the mobile game for you.

Why? Because the developers behind Campus Crush, Episode Interactive, created the game Episodes as well.

Google Play lists it as a 3.8, but that’s probably because, like with Episodes, you’re only allowed so many passes per game. Everything else is bought in-app.

However, Campus Crush is still worth playing because you are able to make (imaginary) friends, become a part of a (imaginary) sorority, and find a (imaginary) date to prom.

And why go through all of those embarrassing things in real life when you can find out how it would happen through a game?

Long Story

Second on our list is Long Story. I came across this gem in my trek across the Google Play store to find the most episodic, Episode-like game I could find.

And it’s a good thing too, because this is the first blatantly LGBTQ+ choose-your-own story that I could find.

And I find that fantastic! After all, it’s important for all people to find a narrative that they can relate to.

This isn’t to say that Episodes doesn’t have a story line that relates to the LGBTQ+ community (I’m sure it does), but it’s hard to look through all of the stories available to find the perfect one that might relate to your life.

So Long Story (and it’s 4.0 rating) is worth a shot.

High School Mystery Story Game

I’m not sure why, but it seems like the most popular Episode-like games all take place in high school or college. Which means they all have to do with some form of love story.

And that’s okay, because it gives us a break from our own sad histories (I’m talking to the Ted’s of the world). But what I like about High School Mystery Story Game (yes, that is the title according to Google Play) is that they switched it up a bit.

Now, I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but let’s just say that the story gets really interesting when shadows begin to appear. Guess you’ll have to play through to find out why!

Plus, they have a 4.2 rating, so it can’t be too bad, right?

Teen Love Story

As far as teenage romances go, there is a ton of advice online. But why listen to random people, when you can just play through a story of your own?

Teen Love Story, with its 4.3 rating on Google Play, is the perfect game to cure that “how should I go about love” angst that we have all experienced at one time or another. And if you don’t play it for the love story, you should play it to relive high school shenanigans like bringing down the popular girl.

After all, we’ve all dreamed of doing that at least once. Even better, you could be the popular girl in the story. The possibilities are limitless!

Choices

Last on our list is the game Choices. This game is the most like Episodes, in that there are at least a hundred different stories that you can play. Instead of being relegated to only love stories, you can be a princess or a knight in a castle, solve mysteries, etc.

Essentially, there is not a specific genre in Choices which makes game play a lot more interesting. If Episodes is your thing, then Choices is most definitely the closest thing you’re going to find to it.

So, when you get a chance, download it from the Google Play store, and go to town.

And then tell us if it deserves its 4.6 rating, because I certainly think that it does!

Bonus – Otome Game: Ghost (Office Love)

Alright. Alright. I said five, but I couldn’t help myself. I like Otome games, and this one had one of the best ratings on Google Play as far as Choose-Your-Own games go.

So, as a bonus, I had to include Otome Game: Ghost (Office Love). It has a 4.8 rating on Google Play, which means that it’s popular.

Ergo, it must be fun, correct?

Well, I’ll be completely transparent here: I haven’t played the game. But as far as reviews go, I’d say it’s top notch.

It’s similar to Episodes in that there is a story line, but where Episodes has thousands of different stories with multiple choices, this only has the one. But that’s okay because you can play it multiple times and change the outcomes of the characters.

The premise is simple:

Girl meets boy. They get into a relationship. Boy dies. Girl mourns. Girl starts to move on. Boy comes back as a ghost to rekindle the relationship. What do you do?

The game was created by Hanabi Media, and is available for Android 4.3 and up, according to Google Play.

I’m not sure about you, but I think I’m going to give this one a try.

And that concludes our show…

And those are the five mobile choose-your-own story games that are similar to Episodes.

Which will you play?
