Creative Director Has Low Expectations for Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs will not run as efficiently as hoped.

Next-gen consoles were expected to be innovative and perform better than anything we had seen before. While that may be true in some aspects, the continuous themes in recent announcements have given me the impression that the consoles won’t be the star of this generation’s gaming needs.

Watch Dogs can’t achieve 60fps with current gen!

According to Watch Dogs’ Creative Director, Jonathan Morin, his studio will be “focussing on a steady 30fps.” He states:

“I think for where we are, the most important thing is the steadiness and [ensuring] that it’s always capped the same so when you play it, it feels right.”

To me this means that the next-gen consoles are not adding up to all the hype that they are receiving. Especially with the promising Steam Machines coming out next year, I think that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are up for some serious competition. A PC-like machine will be able to handle 60fps and is almost guaranteed to have 1080p resolution.

Next-gen, what is it good for?

Watch Dogs is only one of many games that are not going to be able to run at 60fps. Even popular games such as Ryse will not be able to release in full HD, so the next-gen consoles are looking even more useless now than ever. It’s harsh, I know, but with the PC you can update and stay at the forefront of technology as the years go by; with the consoles that are coming out you’ll need to buy a whole new machine within 2 years at best.

What do you think of the upcoming generation of consoles? Are you willing to shell out the money for just a couple of good exclusives? Tell me what you think below!
