To the fans of Mirror’s Edge, the sequel will be even more awesome due to the power of next-gen technology according to comments made by EA labels’ president Frank Gibeau.  In an interview, Mr. Gibeau says that the technological power of this fourth generation of gaming will help deliver some great experiences.

He says:

Performance, animation, all those technologies that are now in gen four, that extra computing power is going to be able to take Mirror’s Edge to the next level. We’ve always been thinking about it, but a bunch of things came together – the right story, the right leadership team, and the right capabilities from this new hardware – that got us to commit and go for it.

Mirror’s Edge is a game that received a cult following after its release in 2008. Due to its unique style of first person parkour with a red and white backdrop, most saw it as an innovative game, but many complained that it was too linear with its gameplay.

Those who love it, however, are addicted and have been craving for a sequel.  At this year’s E3, it was revealed that Mirror’s Edge 2 is in development by DICE, the same folks that are bringing us Battlefield 4 and the much anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront reboot. With these comments straight from the top, fans can expect the next Mirror’s Edge to up the ante.
