Whats wrong with zombie games?

posted by 7 years ago

Ok I am a lover of zombies but not many zombie games. The problem I have is realism I want realistic zombie games. Ok no need to tell me zombies don't exist but on every game you happen to be immune. I want a game where there is a danger of being infected. You should start out creating a character and then scavenge and fight your way to the top. There are zombie games where you fight zombies or ones where you manage a base but only so few with that all together. There needs to be a game that nicely merges story, scavenging, zombies, marauders, and bases. You may be thinking of state of decay and yes its a great game but not very realistic I once wanted to see what happens when you die and the zombies attack you for a long time before injury or death and almost never infect you. Ok another thing is in almost every zombie game either the military tries to help but are horrible fighters and die and every
Soldier dies by the zombies or the military kills every survivor and basically are evil and win at everything. The military basically are either strong and evil or weak and good. I just wish for a game that infects you after one bite has a actually good military and no cure just more realistic. Thats what I want in a zombie game

I think the problem is that it would not make for very fun gameplay if you were infected with one hit. Yea you become an unstoppable juggernaut in zombie games, but the alternative is dying dumb deaths through (very likely) glitches or simple mistakes.

A friend of mine and I sat down a few years ago to design the essential "perfect" zombie MMORPG. While it is not quite as hardcore as a re-roll, we spent many hours determining how to pit the player into a mode of survival and not just one of rambunctious play. I love the idea of forcing players to think and rethink their actions before they take a leap of faith. Games like Dead Rising can be fun to a point but, while playing Last of Us this weekend, I now see the importance for social commentary in games, and if you can make the player take away something from the experience then great!

I really want to share what we worked on. but some part of me still holds on to the hope that one day it might be made. Imagine a sandbox zombie game with a real fear of death, that's a game that I want!

I, for one, would like to see one set in a realistic, modern location that let's you attempt to create your escape plan. My friends and I have spent many a late night discussing who has the superior survival plan, and it would be fun to have a virtual testing ground.

Not to mention, just think of the product placement opportunities. The funding could be provided by grocery stores, hardware stores and outdoor pro shops who want their stores included in the game.

Imagine a, mobile based, inter-connected game where you could first scan products (to add them to your inventory) and group with friends in a real location to fight off hoards of zombies. (Google Maps could generate the maps!)

I get it - sort of like Hardcore mode for Diablo. Get bit, and it's over. Might as well roll a new character.

So basically you want Fallout + Zombies? That sounds freakin awesome.

Basically i've never found a game that is realistic for zombies. The Wii U ZombieU i liked the idea of getting infected but the game was horrible by itself.
