2. GTA 5 was annouced on GTA 3‘s birthday

This game was announced on the same day as Grand Theft Auto 3‘s 10th anniversary. GTA 3 was originally released on October 22, 2001.

3. GTA 5 was originally code-named “Rush” to possibly be confused with Bioshock Infinite

Rockstar Games in pre-production called this game (code-name) “Rush” and Take-Two was initially named as the production company to keep the game a secret. Speculation says that because Take-Two also owns 2K games, in addition to Rockstar, code name Rush might have been used to throw the scent by confusing Rush with a possible code name for Bioshock Infinite.

4. GTA 5‘s second trailer features the three main characters as the “Three Monkeys”

At the end of the second trailer, the three protagonists can be seen together in different poses of disbelief. Their poses mimic the “Three Monkeys” who embody the famous phrase “Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.”

5. This GTA 5 pre-release image is based off Deacon Blue’s popular song “Dignity”

One of the pre-release images published by Rockstar shows a ship registered in Los Santos named Dignity. This is a reference to the Scottish pop band Deacon Blue’s song “Dignity,” the lyrics refer to a blue council collar worker who has saved his money to buy a ship that he’d name Dignity. The song can be found here.
