Have long loading times in Metal Gear Solid 5? Go offline

If you're getting long load and menu-opening times in MGS5, it's time to take the game offline.

Metal Gear Solid 5‘s net infrastructure is unfortunately more cumbersome than it’s worth most of the time. Why does it need to be online all the time, and why does it need to ping the server so often? Who knows, but it’s the biggest cause of long load times.

For reasons beyond you or I, Metal Gear Solid 5 not only communicates with the servers when loading, but also when opening some menus. Luckily that’s easy enough to fix in every version of the game: Just go offline.

In most cases, your best bet is just to open the menu and go offline. It’s quick and easy, and is probably the best solution to this issue we’re ever going to get. The game’s servers are not reliable 100% of the time (which is unacceptable from a AAA game) and Konami is clearly not willing to put more resources towards fixes than they have to.

This tip is pretty simple, but it needed to be put out there. Try going offline for yourself and see the difference for yourself.
