The International, the world’s biggest Dota 2 tournament, is scheduled to begin on August 7. Teams need to be decided beforehand, which is where the upcoming qualifiers come in.
There will be two qualifier bouts, one for East and one for West. The first will be the West Qualifier, which will be hosted by GDStudio between May 13 and May 19. The East Qualifier will be hosted by BeyondTheSummit through May 20 and May 26.
The two teams that win these qualifiers will be making their way to The International in August. Twelve additional teams will be announced over the next few weeks, while Invictus Gaming will be making a return to the tournament as last year’s Dota 2 champions.
The above makes up 15 teams to make their way to The International. A final 16th team will be chosen via runner-up qualifiers later this year before the tournament takes place.
The winning team of The International will win a whopping $1 million. Who will be the one to take it home? We’ll just have to wait until August to see.
