Niantic CEO Drops Hints about Pokemon GO

Rare Pokemon are coming. "There are some rare ones that haven't showed up yet that will be showing up" says Niantic CEO John Hanke.

Niantic CEO John Hanke, the head honcho of Pokemon GO, happened to be at the San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday to give us hints as to what we will be seeing in the future of Pokemon GO.

Here are 5 things Hanke revealed in a conversation with a reporter at Comic-Con:

Sorry about the servers

Hanke told us Niantic’s servers “weren’t provisioned for what happened” and the popularity, and that the company’s engineers are working on keeping the servers up and reliable before they add new features. They’re working on fixing details like the Pokemon radar system, too.

Rare Pokemon are coming

“There are some rare ones that haven’t showed up yet that will be showing up.”

Only 145 out of the total 151 Pokemon have been accounted for by players worldwide right now, so more to come.

Your team will be more important

Pokemon teams — Team Instinct (Yellow), Team Valor (Red), and Team Mystic (Blue) — have one of the three Legendary Bird Pokemon as their mascot, and that may play into which of the birds players can catch. Hanke said:

“They’re kinda aligned with the teams, and we might have something to announce about the teams soon.”

Plus, the leaders of each team will be giving out advice to players soon too.

Turning Pokéstops into Pokemon Centers

Hanke hints some  Pokestops can turn into Pokemon Centers, where you can heal your Pokemon.

Players haven’t found everything:  Pokemon Go players have discovered that giving an Eevee the name of “Pyro,” “Rainer,” or “Sparky” will ensure that it evolves into Flareon, Vaporeon, or Jolteon. Hanke says there are plenty more little secrets like that which players haven’t found.

Hanke confirmed Pokemon trading coming to the game, as said previously. Right now, players are hitting the limits of this mobile game, as Nick Johnson caught all 142 Pokemon available in the US. I wander what else they have up their sleeve for the future of this game.
