Tangledeep, a game being developed by Impact Gameworks, has been kickstarted within its first week and is still going. The Kickstarter currently has 560 backers and $16,307 of its $15,000 goal, with 20 days still left (at time of writing).

The Kickstarter page allows you to download the pre-alpha build to play, with the game set for a late Q4 2017 release on PC, Mac, and Linux. The game may be released on consoles at a future date.

The game’s kickstarter page describes it as:

“An upcoming turn-based, dungeon crawling, roguelike RPG for PC, OSX and Linux. Its gorgeous 16-bit aesthetic is inspired by some of the most classic RPGs of the SNES era, such as Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger, while its deep and strategic gameplay combines elements of modern titles like Diablo and Rogue Legacy.”

While the words gorgeous and 16-bit don’t often go together, Tangledeep makes it work with its rich colors. The soundtrack will have two styles: a retro version and a more modern, orchestral version. It will be interesting to see this game when it comes out, and how it’s backers react to the finished product.
