The Witcher is going live action

The Witcher is heading to theaters.

The Witcher has conquered books and games already. Next step: Hollywood. The Witcher is based off of Polish novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, and has three video game adaptations. The game series revolutionized the narrative in gaming. And now there's going to be a movie, too.

Studio Platige Films, a Polish studio responsible for the cinematics in the Witcher games, will team up with the Sean Danial Company, the producers of The Mummy franchise, in efforts to bring The Witcher to theaters. The film is expected to be released in 2017, and will be based more off of the novels than the video games.

There is no word on who will be playing Geralt yet; however, the film does have a director - Oscar Nominee Tomasz Baginski - and writer, St. John from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This is exciting news for Witcher fans. What do you guys think about this news, how well will The Witcher translate to film? Who do you think should play the star role of Geralt of Rivia?
