Teenager Makes Us All Look Lazy with his Awesome Tetris Acapella Video
Gloson Teh is becoming quite the YouTube sensation thanks to video he uploaded on July 15th of his acappella version of the famous Nintendo Tetris theme song. He composed the arrangement at the age of 14 and recorded it at only 16. This talented kid is making the rest of us look painfully lazy, but he's having such a good time doing it. How can you possibly hold it against him?
The melody actually comes from a Nineteenth-century Russian folk song called "Korobeiniki" based on a poem with the same name by Nikolay Nekrasov. When it made its 1989 appearance in Nintendo's Tetris, it permanently became known as "The Tetris Song." How about that?
The video is most impressive as Gloson had to record each part separately and put it all together to make it one solid theme song. The time and effort required for such a task is no small feat. I have a hard enough time trying to get my 14-year-old to shower on a daily basis, I can't even fathom him taking on this type of task. I give credit where credit is due and Gloson Teh has certainly earned it.
Tetris isn't the only theme he's tackled on either. Popular songs from the Disney film "Frozen," as well as the "Man of Steel" theme song are under his belt. He's been performing since the age of 9 on Malaysian television shows and schools whether it be reciting a poem, giving a speech, playing the piano, or singing various songs. This young man does it all and does it quite well. He has a bright future ahead of him.
Gloson Teh has a Chipmunk version of "The Tetris Song" available on Soundcloud which is quite adorable, if you're looking for giggles.
