Right after you spawn you can take two ways: one leads to the ruined portal at coordinates 50, 150, and the other one will take you to a single house located near jungle at coordinates -200, 150.
If you go through the portal, you will end up on one of the nether fortresses at the basalt deltas. Just be careful, there are plenty of ghasts flying around.
