505 Games has announced that they will publish upcoming co-op monster-raising RPG Re:Legend. Additionally, it was revealed that the game will launch through Steam Early Access later this year.

Re:Legend originally gained traction through the Square Enix Collective and later became the most successful crowdfunded game campaign in Southeast Asia. In Re:Legend, players will arrive on Vokka Island in the land of Ethia, where they will have to start a new life and figure out a way to restore their lost memories.

Re:Legend will mix farming and life simulation mechanics with monster raising and co-op gameplay. Players will be able to build up their village through farming, fishing, crafting, and other activities while also exploring the world, taming and breeding monsters known as Magnus along the way.

Re:Legend is planned for a June 2018 release on PC, but it is currently unknown whether this will be the early access version or the complete version. The game is also expected to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch at some later point.

Assetto Corsa The Red Pack DLC Available Now On Steam https://www.gameskinny.com/4bls4/assetto-corsa-the-red-pack-dlc-available-now-on-steam https://www.gameskinny.com/4bls4/assetto-corsa-the-red-pack-dlc-available-now-on-steam Thu, 14 Jul 2016 11:45:49 -0400 Cody Drain

Racing simulator Assetto Corsa may not be available on consoles until August 30th, but Steam users who have long had access to the game can check out a new DLC pack with a focus on gorgeous Italian cars. The "Red Pack" DLC includes seven high-performance Italian vehicles, all painted in an iconic red, and one track, Austria's RedBull Ring circuit.

The seven vehicles included in the "Red Pack" DLC are the Ferrari SF-15T, Ferrari F138, Ferrari 488 GT3, Maserati 250F 6C, Maserati 250F T2 12C, Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4, and the Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce. Arguably the three best Italian automotive brands--Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini--are represented in this pack, and all of these vehicles are the epitome of "high-performance" race cars. The RedBull Ring circuit, meanwhile, was recreated in-game through the laser-scanning method that has become the game's calling card.

The "Red Pack" DLC is available now on Steam for $9.99. The reveal video's description confirms that the DLC will be available on consoles as well, once the game releases.

The racing game genre has experienced something of an evolution on current-gen consoles, as unbelievably realistic simulators like Project CARS become ever more popular. And while it's been available on PC for some time now, Assetto Corsa will soon be joining the ranks of racing sims on current-gen consoles. The newest trailer for the game, developed by KUNOS Simulazioni and published on console by 505 Games, showcases some of the legendary real-world tracks featured in the game, and the meticulous laser-scanning process that brings them to life.

The two-minute trailer shows tracks like Silverstone, Spa Francorchamps, Monza, and Germany's grueling Nurburgring-Nordschleife in action. The trailer promises "the highest level of accuracy" when it comes to these legendary courses, and it shows. Every inconsistency -- bumps, slopes, and so on -- is reflected through the laser-scanning process, resulting in an unquestionably realistic driving experience. Other factors, such as rubber deposits from tire wear, the time of day, and even the track temperature also add to the pervasive sense of realism.

Pre-ordering the game through GameStop will earn players the "Prestige Pack" that features 9 cars, including the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo, the Chevrolet C7 Stingray, the 2015 Ford Mustang, and the Audi R8 V10 Plus, among others. The game is slated for release on August 30th for $49.99.

Abzu Receives New Gameplay Trailer, Releases This Summer https://www.gameskinny.com/l8zyf/abzu-receives-new-gameplay-trailer-releases-this-summer https://www.gameskinny.com/l8zyf/abzu-receives-new-gameplay-trailer-releases-this-summer Fri, 10 Jun 2016 06:52:48 -0400 Logan Moore

The beauty, serenity and sheer scope of 2012's Journey stuck with gamers for a long time. Although the game contained no dialogue, its storytelling and sense of wonder was unmatched. Now Abzu, the new underwater adventure game from some of the creators of Journey, is set to surface sometime this summer.

We first saw Abzu at Sony's E3 conference in 2014. The new gameplay preview shown above is the first we've seen of the game since that time.

In Abzu, you play as a diver exploring a vast undersea world. With your trusty drone at your side, you're free to explore different areas of the ocean, interact with the sea life, and seek out and uncover hidden aquatic artifacts. If you have played Journey, then you will have a great idea of how Abzu will play.

The first thing that stands out about the game is its gorgeous visuals. The colors used in Abzu are so vibrant and they all seem to pop right off of the screen. Combine these awe-inspiring visuals with yet another fantastic score by Austin Wintory, the Grammy-nominated composer of Journey, and you have the makings of another great game.

For those who have been patiently awaiting Abzu's release since first seeing the game two years ago, you'll be happy to know that it's coming out soon. And while we don't have a specific release date for you right now, the game is currently expected to release sometime this summer. So divers — get ready.

Grab your oxygen tank and snorkel, and prepare to dive into Abzu in just a few short weeks.

Starbreeze Studios: Acquires Payday IP and drops microtransactions. https://www.gameskinny.com/43mb7/starbreeze-studios-acquires-payday-ip-and-drops-microtransactions https://www.gameskinny.com/43mb7/starbreeze-studios-acquires-payday-ip-and-drops-microtransactions Tue, 31 May 2016 17:30:28 -0400 Joseph Ocasio

Well, a lot of news came out from Starbreeze Studios today. In honor of it's 100th update, the company announced that it had acquired the full right to the Payday IP from Publisher 505 games for 10.9 million B-shares. The release also says that "505 Games will retain a 33% revenue share of Starbreeze's net revenues from future sales of Payday 3 capped at 40 million USD, after Starbreeze has fully recouped its development and marketing costs."

In the announcement, Starbreeze mentioned that Payday 3 will be released sometime in the future. Destructoid was able to confirm with Overkill Softwares' Almir Listo, with Listo saying, "we're confirming it's existence, but that's it - no more." He did say that the studio will "continue to develop stuff for Payday 2 for another 18 months" on Overkill's Steam page.

Also confirmed on that post is that the black market will be free for everyone going forward. Essentially, the much controversial microtransactions that were implemented last year will be no more.

Payday 2 was released on August 13th, 2013, for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. A next gen port for PS4 and Xbox One scheduled for June 16th, 2015.

Terraria (Wii U) release date confirmed https://www.gameskinny.com/qo3s8/terraria-wii-u-release-date-confirmed https://www.gameskinny.com/qo3s8/terraria-wii-u-release-date-confirmed Wed, 04 May 2016 04:14:14 -0400 David Fisher

The 2D Minecraft-like game Terraria will be finally arriving on the Wii U on June 24th in Europe, and the 28th of June in North America. While the 3DS has had its own port since December of last year, the Wii U version will be the first on a Nintendo console to support all the features of the original.

The Wii U version of Terraria will be the first Nintendo version to support online multiplayer -- a feature absent from the 3DS version due to hardware limitations. A number of other features that were not available on the 3DS version due to hardware will be included as well, such as:

  • 14 unique environments
  • Hundreds of craftable items
  • Over 150 enemy types
  • Grand scale boss battles
  • Wide open worlds to explore
  • 4 player split-screen co-op
  • 8 player online multiplayer

The Wii U version of Terraria is expected to be a near identical port to other console versions of the game with the exception of new features unique to the 3DS and Wii U. This included the ability to use the touchscreen to modify, build, and dig through the in-game environments.

Nintendo has been a little late to the party for Terraria, with many of the ports of the game having been released in 2013 and 2014. Terraria itself is 5 years old as of this month, and so the Wii U release is certainly a case of "better late than never".

Will you be picking up Terraria on Wii U? Want to rant about how slow Nintendo gets some 3rd party games? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

New Portal Knights update comes bearing lots of spooky content https://www.gameskinny.com/pph5v/new-portal-knights-update-comes-bearing-lots-of-spooky-content https://www.gameskinny.com/pph5v/new-portal-knights-update-comes-bearing-lots-of-spooky-content Sat, 30 Apr 2016 15:55:00 -0400 ESpalding

Keen Games and 505 Games this week released a new ghost world update for their sandbox action-adventure game, Portal Knights. The game, currently in Early Access on Steam, is a fantasy crafting adventure set in a land full of islands which are connected by portals.

The new content allows players to explore creepy buildings, eerie graveyards, and lots and lots of gravestones in a new Ghost World. To add to the spookiness of it all, a mysterious mist has crept in over the land. Players will also be able to pit themselves against spider-esque foes, mummies and a variation on the Hollow Man.

As well as the introduction of the Ghost World, the new update comes with loads of other features for the game:

  • A new event system with random occurrences across the world
  • More recipes and monster “trophy” furniture items
  • An all-new brick dungeon to explore
  • Stone furniture recipes dropped throughout the ghost world
  • New character customization features including hairstyles, voices, beards, mouths and eyes.

Also, upon request from the Portal Knights community, the developers have made it so that items can also now be dropped from the inventory into the game world straight from the backpack.

To mark the launch of the new update, players can participate in the Early Access for 20% off the standard game price, making it $11.99. Portal Knights is currently only available for Windows.

Adr1ft now has a release date https://www.gameskinny.com/satne/adr1ft-now-has-a-release-date https://www.gameskinny.com/satne/adr1ft-now-has-a-release-date Sat, 20 Feb 2016 12:12:17 -0500 shox_reboot

Adr1ft, a first person space survival game developed by Three One Zero and published by 505 Games is set to release on the 28th of March as a launch title for the Oculus Rift.

If you want to get a basic idea behind the game, think back to the movie Gravity. It did a great job in conveying what it could feel like to be stranded in Space -- at least judging by Sandra Bullock's acting along and the seriously impressive visuals.

Adr1ft seeks to take that whole scenario a few steps further by putting players in space while throwing some pretty horrible curve-balls at them.

You play as an astronaut stranded in space, looking for a way to repair an emergency escape vehicle while dealing with a damaged space suit and (as if the aforementioned wasn't enough trouble already) memory loss. Since this is on the Oculus Rift, it's safe to say that players can expect a unique and surreal experience to say the least.

It's also worth noting that Adr1ft will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well at a later date.

Video game publisher 505 Games has announced the upcoming release of their new sandbox adventure title, Portal Knights

Developed by German game developer Keen Games, Portal Knights will be available for Steam Early Access on February 25, though there is currently no word on how much the game will cost. As the developers remarked on the game's Steam page

"A decision on the final pricing will be made during the Early Access period, and may be higher depending on the amount of features and content added to the game."

The game takes place in a fantasy realm where a peaceful world has been shattered by a cataclysmic event called The Fracture, and it's the job of the players to restore peace to the world and reunite the realm, traveling various islands of the world through the portals that connect them.

From the look of the stills and the preview video, the game seems to have a Minecraft-meets-Skyrim-for-kids feel to it -- players choose RPG-inspired character classes like warrior, mage or ranger, and there are building and crafting elements, as well.

Players build their homes and then fight to protect them as just one of the many features of Portal Knights.

The developers have chosen to release the game with Steam's Early Access program because of the long history of sandbox-style games being shaped by the communities that play them. Depending on user feedback, there are a lot of features not currently in the game that they hope to bring to it before the full release -- including a variety of new worlds, more multiplayer features, and deeper RPG mechanics, to name a few. However, the end result ultimately depends on community response during early access.

What elements would make Portal Knights appealing to you? What features would separate it from games like Minecraft and Trove? Is it a game you would play yourself, or just one you would buy for your kids? Sound off in the comments!

Fixed-Funded RPG Indivisible prototype hits PS4 https://www.gameskinny.com/vm46k/fixed-funded-rpg-indivisible-prototype-hits-ps4 https://www.gameskinny.com/vm46k/fixed-funded-rpg-indivisible-prototype-hits-ps4 Tue, 03 Nov 2015 10:27:27 -0500 Andrea Koenig

From the creators of SkullgirlsLab Zero's newest game in development, Indivisibleis now available as a playable prototype on PlayStation 4 today! There is already a free prototype available for those who want to test on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

For those unfamiliar with this 2D side-scroll action RPG, then listen up. The game follows a rebellious teen female protagonist, Ajna, who was raised by her father in martial arts to protect their village.

After the village is attacked by warlords, Ajna discovers her magic powers to "absorb" special individuals called "incarnations" and must use this power to combat the warlords.

The world is inspired by Southeast Asian mythology and various cultures and myths and introduces a large cast of incarnation characters worth checking out.  Further development of the story line allows players to earn new abilities and weapons.

Game art and environments are being worked on by several talented artists, while music-wise, Lab Zero has partnered with legendary Japanese game composer, Hiroki Kikuta, known for the Secret of Mana series soundtracks.

Lab Zero mentioned during earlier development periods that Indivisible is  a fixed funding campaign. Funding from fans help with game completion, as well as provide certain features that gamers sometimes overlook: language translations and multiple-platform releases.

The company plans on releasing the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam Windows/Mac/Linux platforms as well as language support of English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.

Other companies tend to get in on the game and help out this fixed funding by donating at various goal intervals. 505 games is doing this, generously wishing to contribute $2 million if Lab Zero reaches their goal of $1.5 million.

Developers welcome any feedback from players to help improve their game, so be sure to keep in contact if you find anything that you think could be of use to their development in the story.

If you wish to learn more, or are already hooked and wish to donate to the cause, you can head on over to the game's Indiegogo page

Indivisible devs Lab Zero explain the hefty campaign price goal https://www.gameskinny.com/ba21r/indivisible-devs-lab-zero-explain-the-hefty-campaign-price-goal https://www.gameskinny.com/ba21r/indivisible-devs-lab-zero-explain-the-hefty-campaign-price-goal Wed, 21 Oct 2015 11:32:19 -0400 tobes325

Indivisible is a new action/rpg from indie developers Lab Zero, in partnership with 505 Games. It was announced earlier this month with a whopping price tag of $1.5m to reach their target crowdfunding goal and 505 Games has promised a further $2m should they reach the funding goals; this brings the total to $3.5m.

The game has just 25 days left to reach its target and so far they have received 25% of the funding, the total standing at $379,457.00. There could be many reasons the campaign has suffered a slow start but Lab Zero's Mike Zaimont released a tell-all YouTube statement regarding the costs.

"$3.5m dollars is the real number it would take to make this game. It is not inflated or anything like that, after a lot of negotiation we were able to convince 505 to be nice and put in $2m of the $3.5m that we need, which is slightly over half, and take care of a lot of the other development costs like localisation and testing and marketing and stuff. They are a publisher. They are not our publisher."

Zaimont went on to state that the federal poverty line the US is $20k and using Super Metroid as an example, it took 23 people to create that game and 3 years to create. That equates to $460k annually on the poverty rate for employees, not including non-salary costs such as office space, internet, marketing, development kits etc. He concluded:

"Now let's increase that to what a lot of people in parts of the United States consider to be a semi-decent/semi-crappy salary: $40k a year, We know from making Skullgirls approximately how many people we will need to make Indivisible in the timeframe that we're looking at and it is more than 23 people."

After calculating the costs and adding up how many people will be working on Indivisible, Zaimont explains that they're also pushing to get the game out in 2 years instead of 3, resulting in extra staffing. So that is the reason for the $3.5m price tag as that is the actual cost.

Lab Zero have stated the game is inspired by Super Metroid and Valkyrie Profile. Many fans of the indie developers have criticised them for putting such a high price tag on the end product, there is already a prototype/demo available and this has led them to believe it is half finished already.

"That prototype was the result of about three months and one week of super intense work by a very small team of people, That does not translate into an entire RPG. We are trying to do this as honestly and normally as we possibly can. And we are meeting exactly the same resistance as if we hadn't tried to do that, which is really frustrating.

Donations to the campaign can be made below. What are your thoughts on the price tag? Justified? Or just too damn much?

Check out these new attack animations for Indivisible https://www.gameskinny.com/5jyyx/check-out-these-new-attack-animations-for-indivisible https://www.gameskinny.com/5jyyx/check-out-these-new-attack-animations-for-indivisible Sat, 05 Sep 2015 13:42:26 -0400 Clint Pereira

Lab Zero has updated their Tumblr and Twitter accounts with beautiful combat animations, reminiscent of their fluid style in Skullgirls. The developers don't seem to be cutting any corners in their upcoming action RPG, Indivisible.

Indivisible will have an action RPG battle system similar to tri-Ace’s Valkyrie Profile. Each character, or Incarnation, has a basic attack mapped to the buttons on the game controller. More advanced high, low, and neutral attack variants will be unlocked as the game progresses. Similar to Valkyrie Profile, attacks synchronized by the entire party will lead to HP-shattering combos.

Although Indivisible will not be released until 2017, it's good to see they're being as transparent as possible with their Indiegogo backers and fans. The art and animation so far looks pretty slick.

Terraria Wii U and 3DS release confirmed for 2016 https://www.gameskinny.com/v5juo/terraria-wii-u-and-3ds-release-confirmed-for-2016 https://www.gameskinny.com/v5juo/terraria-wii-u-and-3ds-release-confirmed-for-2016 Sun, 02 Aug 2015 14:37:28 -0400 Ashley Shankle

Nintendo fans with a penchant for sandbox games should get excited, because Terraria's finally making its way to the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS next year.

Terraria heading to Nintendo's current consoles was widely speculated and rumored, but never confirmed until last week with the announcement's posting on the official Terraria forums. The ports are being handled by 505 Games as with versions of the game other than the PC version.

505 Games has separate development teams for each version of Terraria, and the Wii U and 3DS versions are no different. Both are being handled by different development teams, so as to not slow down update releases after launch.

Terraria on the Wii U will allow for one to eight people to play together online, and four people to play together locally. Player one will have the option to change the display to the Gamepad instead of splitting the screen with other local players. The 3DS version will have one to four player ad hoc play.

Terraria's been on every other console, and it's about time it's finally making its way to Nintendo platforms. 505 Games estimates it will be ready for launch in early 2016.

2016 - The year Terraria was finally released on every modern console. Who'd have thought?

Terraria is officially coming to the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U; rumored for October release https://www.gameskinny.com/yf7jy/terraria-is-officially-coming-to-the-nintendo-3ds-and-wii-u-rumored-for-october-release https://www.gameskinny.com/yf7jy/terraria-is-officially-coming-to-the-nintendo-3ds-and-wii-u-rumored-for-october-release Thu, 30 Jul 2015 19:50:24 -0400 Courtney Gamache

The very popular Steam game, Terraria, finally has an official release for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U after a partnership between the developer Re-Logic and 505 Games.

Terraria, the 2D sandbox game

Terraria is a fantastic sandbox game that has been gathering updates for many years. It has a resemblance to Minecraft in the aspect that there are over 1,300 crafting recipes, and the world is filled with plenty of foes to battle with. Since spelunking is the key with Terraria, you'll have to mine your materials and hoard them from exploring the vast land. By doing so, you'll be able to progress in the game and gain better equipment.

Details on the Nintendo Versions

The Nintendo versions are utilizing the touchscreen abilities that the 3DS and Wii U have. Using local wi-fi on the 3DS version up to four people can play Terraria together, where the Wii U edition will support up to eight players online, but only four locally through split-screen.

This annoucement on the expansion of Terraria is coming straight from Gamescom, and they will be featuring a Nintendo booth where Terraria will hopefully be a spotlight.

Prefer to Play on Consoles?

Terraria has always been available on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and mobile devices. This new addition will be the first time Re-Logic is launching their famous game Terraria on Nintendo hardware. Personally I've always played it on Steam and found that to be a great version.

Rumored for a 3DS release in October

There's no official launch date for 3DS and Wii U Terraria, but we can expect more details from Gamescom. Based on a release from Amazon, Terraria is available for the Nintendo 3DS as of October 31st, which is quickly approaching.

Would you be up to playing this 2D sandbox game on your Nintendo consoles? I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Payday 2: The Diamond Heist DLC Features First Female Heister https://www.gameskinny.com/q6mls/payday-2-the-diamond-heist-dlc-features-first-female-heister https://www.gameskinny.com/q6mls/payday-2-the-diamond-heist-dlc-features-first-female-heister Wed, 17 Dec 2014 19:00:17 -0500 Michael Falero

Payday 2's newest character is an Irishwoman with a penchant for smashing people's heads in.

Clover is the new "heister" included in Payday 2's DLC released Tuesday, called The Diamond Heist. She's also the series' first female heister, has her own unlockable "female" masks, and specializes in faster lockpicking and bodybagging with her "Burgler" perk. Her weapon of choice? A L-95 assault rifle named "Queen's Wrath" as well as an Irish wooden club known as a "shillelagh".

Developer Overkill Games teased back in October that they would release a playable female character, though they didn't release any information about her until now. (See the short teaser trailer below.)

Another Female Heister in the Works?

Payday 2's composer Simon Viklund has also has indicated that there may be another female character in the near future. Clover's initial voice actress was Scottish, but because the character has an Irish background, Overkill used a different actress for Clover.

Players can play Clover as of this Tuesday by purchasing the Clover Character Pack in the Steam store.

Is Sniper Elite 3 Worth It? https://www.gameskinny.com/3qyf5/is-sniper-elite-3-worth-it https://www.gameskinny.com/3qyf5/is-sniper-elite-3-worth-it Thu, 10 Jul 2014 07:55:58 -0400 Death Metal Hero

The third installment of the Sniper Elite franchise treads similar ground but still manages to feel like a new experience. If you enjoyed the previous Sniper Elite’s then this one will feel the same, aside from a new setting and some minor adjustments. Expect to see a lot of brown colors, seeing as the entire game takes place in canyons and deserts. But thankfully you can splash some color into the game, like blood-red and brain matter gray.

If you have played any of the earlier Sniper Elite installments then you will feel right at home with the controls. The X-ray kill cams are phenomenal but only for the next-gen systems, playing on Xbox 360 or PS3 is a huge letdown. With the X-ray headshots sometimes the skulls do not fragment, and it takes a couple of seconds for the entire model to render. A complete buzzkill for the main selling point of Sniper Elite. There are times when the camera doesn’t even zoom in on the enemy during a kill cam, instead it’s off center so you only see a part of the event.

The enemy AI is basically stupid too, they do not have peripheral vision at all. Relocating seems to really break the game, moving to a new area results in the enemy no longer chasing you. This makes the game all the easier; pick off 2 or 3 enemies, run 20 meters away, rinse and repeat.

The whole game has a ton of bugs, but most of them are outright hilarious. There is one bug that is disastrous, and that is when two enemies spawn right on top of each other. The only way to take care of that bug is to pull out your rifle and mask your shot or throw a grenade.

The levels are massive and at times are quite tedious. Sadly there are only 8 missions but each mission took me at least an hour and a half. There are tons of collectibles, sniper nests, and optional objectives, but going back and getting everything is not worth it unless you’re a perfectionist.

The weapons and explosions all sound fantastic, and hearing the bones crunch and organs explode from the kill cam is always satisfying. The voice acting is good too, nothing groundbreaking but the accents do sound authentic.

There is not much to the story, but Sniper Elite 3 is an action game. I did not go in expecting to have a powerful and epic story. I went in expecting to see some detailed gore and annihilate some Nazi scum.

Aside from the bugs Sniper Elite 3 is a good game, the survival mode is really fun too. If the game seems too easy for you, you can always crank up the difficulty. I played on Marksman (Normal) and plowed through the game with very few issues. If you want an epic story and groundbreaking gameplay then you might want to stay clear of Sniper Elite 3. Just make sure you buy this game for next-gen consoles, playing on the 360 or the PS3 is disappointing.

Sniper Elite 3 is developed by Rebellion and published by 505 Games. Released on July 1st, 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC. A personal copy of Sniper Elite 3 was purchased from a local retailer.

New Sniper Elite 3 Trailer Gives Us The Scoop https://www.gameskinny.com/vcbib/new-sniper-elite-3-trailer-gives-us-the-scoop https://www.gameskinny.com/vcbib/new-sniper-elite-3-trailer-gives-us-the-scoop Wed, 07 May 2014 16:36:18 -0400 Death Metal Hero

The next chapter in the Sniper Elite franchise takes us to the gorgeous and unforgiving landscapes of North Africa. Developed by Rebellion and published by 505 Games, Sniper Elite 3 will be taking a more sandbox game approach with theater-like battles, and multiple objectives that can be completed in any order.

The new trailer shows off a lot of beautiful scenes from luscious oases to mechanical nazi warehouses, and even ancient ruins. The trailer also reveals a new inventory system, and user interface.

Personally I am really excited to get my hands on Sniper Elite 3. The visceral and all too revealing x-ray kill cam is always a cringe moment for me, especially if I find myself aiming at a Nazi’s family jewels; speaking of, next-gen testicles are confirmed!

If you pre-order Sniper Elite 3, you get a free DLC mission called Hunt The Grey Wolf. The DLC mission plays on the idea that maybe hitler did not kill himself in Berlin in 1945, but rather fell to a sniper bullet two years earlier during a secret trip to North Africa.

Terraria is getting a massive update on its console versions that will add numerous features and bug fixes. Some of these features are similar to the update on the PC version but are console specific. The 1.2 Update is available for free on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita.

Terraria is an action-adventure sandbox 2D video game by Re-Logic and 505 Games for PC, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, iOS, Android, and Windows phone. Similar to Minecraft, the game features exploration, crafting, construction, and combat with a variety of creatures in a randomly generated world with the difference of being more focused on adventure. Bag the Loot: A Payday 2 Review https://www.gameskinny.com/bx0sh/bag-the-loot-a-payday-2-review https://www.gameskinny.com/bx0sh/bag-the-loot-a-payday-2-review Fri, 31 Jan 2014 08:31:28 -0500 Brandon Morgan

I don’t say this lightly, but Payday 2 may be the most fun experience I’ve had in cooperative multiplayer in quite a long time. That’s saying something since I’ve played plenty of games throughout my time. Payday had qualities that I keep coming back to over and over. I enjoy it daily, it is my way of unwinding after a long day and hanging out with some friends to score some big money, in-game cash of course.

While you can play Payday 2 in single-player, the real fun comes from playing online, preferably with a group of well-known friends with headsets and Skype. Playing solo makes life a little harder, the AI isn’t very competent and the enemy AI is more difficult than your lifeless teammates can handle. It isn’t hard to tell the game was made to be played with human players, and that is evident very quickly.

AI Woes

Your AI teammates have some basic combat skills and pathfinding. All too often, I've seen them getting stuck on objects, staring at walls while surrounded by the enemy, or just not shooting at those directly in front of them. This leads you to doing all the work, while trying to micromanage their every movement and push them off whatever invisible wall has them caught.

Forget about doing anything stealthily, the AI don’t know the meaning of the word. They can crouch when you do, but they don’t have the human instinct to hide very well from oncoming guards on patrol. You will get caught, you will most likely die and have restart the job all over again.

To make matters worse, the AI refuses to pick up a single bag, which is the lifeblood of Payday 2. If you do not get those bags of money/cocaine/gold/jewelry into the getaway vehicle, then you do not get paid. This leads the player to juggling numerous bags while defending. A task even the most professional of players can succumb to.

Do yourself a favor and move online

If you’re lucky enough to find a good group that communicates well, you will be plenty richer and level up so much faster. Those with mics, of which there are few in the public, will ensure you work together cohesively and get the job done in a professional manner. The feeling of completely stealthing an entire mission is like none other. Bagging gold and moving it amidst a sea of guards, on the other hand, is difficult but better with human teammates. Just knowing that there are other players with guns backing you up makes the job move so much smoother.

Developer Overkill tends to keep the game updated frequently. It is nice to see this type of support from a studio post-launch, we see too many launch and forget titles. Overkill has released multiple free expansions since launch, as well as three different paid DLCs. All of these are well worth the extra money. I’ve purchased each one and used everything included in the content packs on numerous occasions, more like everyday. We get new guns, masks, heists, achievements, and items.

The look and feel of the heist

Payday 2 may not be the most beautiful of games, but does it really need to be? I’m not paying attention to how everything looks when I’m trying to score the biggest payday in a heist that I can. This is a current-gen game and it feels right for that. I have no qualms with the way that everything looks. Though I would love to see it ported to the next-gen consoles.

Payday 2 handles quite well, both with a mouse and keyboard and a controller. I prefer to use a keyboard and mouse on my PC games, however, and had no issues while doing so. The key setup is quite nice and offers no difficulty while handling your armed robber. That said, there are some issues with the bags. While holding down the action button to grab a bag the game sometimes will not register and you can end up standing in one spot while trying to rectify this.

Payday 2 is no stranger to bugs and issues. Thankfully Overkill has worked hard to get to the point we see today. The majority of major bugs have been crushed and we now have an overall experience to be proud of. All games can be continuously fixed and Overkill looks to be doing just that.

I cannot recommend Payday 2 enough. If you’ve got a good group of friends looking for something interesting to take up far too much of your time, this may be the game for you. It takes patience, skill, and plenty of teamwork, but the end results are well worth the journey. This is for fans of cooperative shooters.

Terraria 1.3 to Be 'Amazing', 1.2 for Consoles in Development https://www.gameskinny.com/1fdih/terraria-13-to-be-amazing-12-for-consoles-in-development https://www.gameskinny.com/1fdih/terraria-13-to-be-amazing-12-for-consoles-in-development Wed, 15 Jan 2014 18:38:53 -0500 Ashley Shankle

If you've run yourself ragged on the new content found in Terraria 1.2, you may be happy to know the game's 1.3 Lunar update will be bringing the total item count above 2,000.

Redigit announced they were nearing the 2,000 item mark on Twitter earlier this week, saying they only had 17 to go until they reach the big 2-0-0-0.

Re-Logic Creative Director Cenx posted the an interesting tweet a few hours prior to Redigit's announcement:

Over 2,000 items total and an amazing update? If this doesn't sound good enough to drag you back to the game yet again, Cenx also mentions the1.3 update in a tweet on January 7th, mentioning the bosses in 1.3 will be more of a challenge.

To compound all of this good news, programmers Yoraiz0r and Solsund are joining Redigit in Terraria 1.2.3 and 1.3 development. Things are looking busy over at Demilogic. One can only imagine how much is going into Terraria and its announced sequel.

Console version of 1.2 development progress

PC players got their dose of the patch in late 2013, but those who prefer their sandbox fun times on consoles have been waiting patiently to get the game-changing 1.2 patch.

An Engine Software development team member made a post on the official forums giving an outline on what has been developed for the console version of the game thus far. More than half of the port seems to be complete, based on the posted 2013 progress report. Four screenshots of 1.2 on consoles were added to the Engine Software Facebook as well.

It is important to remember Engine Software simply develops the console Terraria ports, while Codeglue develops the mobile ports. There have been no direct 1.2 informational updates on the mobile versions as of yet. Hopefully mobile-playing fans will hear an update on the patch soon.
