After the cliffhanger ending to Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, fans were left to despair as Aksys Systems announced that the third installment in the Zero Escape series would have to be put on an indefinite hiatus due to it not selling well enough in Japan.

In 2014, series creator and writer Uchikoshi Kotaro apologized profusely to the fans:

However, at this year's Anime Expo, Aksys Systems officially announced during their panel that the long awaited Zero Escape 3 is in development at last.

Uchikoshi appeared in person to present the teaser and share the good news with the fans of the series.

The official title and exact release date are not yet known, but developers are aiming for a Summer 2016 release.

The game has also been confirmed for release on both the 3DS and Vita.  Japanese and Western versions are being produced and will be localized simultaneously.

Operation Bluebird (the fan campaign for Zero Escape 3) and all Zero Escape fans in general have a lot to be happy about.

Limited Edition Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- Announced for North America on PS3 and PS4 https://www.gameskinny.com/d166i/limited-edition-guilty-gear-xrd-sign-announced-for-north-america-on-ps3-and-ps4 https://www.gameskinny.com/d166i/limited-edition-guilty-gear-xrd-sign-announced-for-north-america-on-ps3-and-ps4 Sun, 14 Sep 2014 21:22:22 -0400 Travis McGee

The newest installment in the Guilty Gear franchise of fighting games is coming to PS3 and PS4 this holiday season, according to developer Aksys Games (formerly Arc System Works), and fans should get excited because with the announcement that Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- will be coming to the Americas Aksys revealed that the release will be an exclusive limited edition version of the game.

The Guilty Gear franchise is a series of traditionally 2-D fighter games that first debuted in Japan in 1998 as a PlayStation exclusive. Set in an apocalyptic, mystical future of our world where "magic" is a limitless source of energy. When combined with living creatures or people, this magic turns them into "Gears" who then rebel against humanity and spark a war between humans and themselves.

Built on a 2-D engine, the Guilty Gear fighting games focus on well-defined characters, anime-worthy cinematic plots, and a whole lot of personality and style for every character. This holiday season will bring the first Guilty Gear game to feature fully 3-D character models to North America.

Aksys has not yet announced an exact date, only stating that the limited edition North American version of the game is now available for pre-order from major retailers Amazon and GameStop on their blog and hinting at a holiday 2014 release date. The features included with this limited edition are:

  • “The Backyard” – The outer box for the Limited Edition features a replica of “The Backyard” complete with gears and high-quality binding. Dare to open the book to uncover all the goodies!
  • Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Soundtrack – The Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- soundtrack is filled with the hard rocking tunes that the series is known for, arranged by Guilty Gear series creator, Daisuke Ishiwatari, himself!
  • Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Character Book – What limited edition is without its art book? The Character Book features a profile for each character from Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, as well as those from Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus and Guilty Gear 2 Overture, and a glossary of terms; a complete character history for those who have some catching up to do!
  • Sol Badguy “Free” Keychain – Inscribed with the word “FREE,” this metal keychain is a scaled replica of the original belt buckle worn by Sol! Add it to your keys to show off something truly unique!

Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- is the tenth installment of the series and released to Japanese Arcades back in February. The limited edition North American release for the game on PS3 will be $69.99 and the PS4 version will be $79.99 and will be the first in the series to feature fully 3-D models for every fighter.

Aksys Games Presents A New PS Vita Dungeon Crawler: Mind Zero https://www.gameskinny.com/lt53v/aksys-games-presents-a-new-ps-vita-dungeon-crawler-mind-zero https://www.gameskinny.com/lt53v/aksys-games-presents-a-new-ps-vita-dungeon-crawler-mind-zero Fri, 28 Mar 2014 22:34:07 -0400 zoLo567

One of my favorite type of games are JRPGs, with the Persona series being one of my favorite franchises. Now a Persona-like dungeon crawler is coming west: Mind Zero. Mind Zero is set for release on the PS Vita in America May 27th.

Mind Zero is a first-person dungeon crawler about normal high school student Kei.

Kei forges a contract with a powerful being called a MIND, and soon finds himself on the run from the government along with his friends as they try to figure out the secrets behind MIND.

In battle you can either fight solo, or use your MIND.

You have many familiar commands in battle, such as attack, use items, defend, or escape. Mind Zero also has a unique technique called Burst. Burst is a technique that, when used, allows you speed up your turn, so you can take action faster. As you use your MIND, you drain your MP. When you run out of MP, your MIND retreats (called a MIND Break), and you have to wait until you have enough MP again before you are able to summon your MIND again.

This Spring's PS Vita lineup seems to feature a number JRPGs, including Conception II, Demon Gaze, and now Mind Zero.

Spring started off right with Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, and is looking like a huge drainage of time. I am glad to see the Vita get some support, as it is one of my personal favorite pieces of hardware. As I said before, I really do love JRPGs, so this looks like a good Spring for me. Now we need to hear some Persona 5 news.

Mind Zero is being developed by studios Acquire and Zero Div. Aksys Games is in charge of the localization. Mind Zero has a release date in America for May 27th.

Check Out Muramasa Rebirth's Opening Movie https://www.gameskinny.com/7y1oo/check-out-muramasa-rebirths-opening-movie https://www.gameskinny.com/7y1oo/check-out-muramasa-rebirths-opening-movie Wed, 10 Apr 2013 10:32:30 -0400 Ashley Shankle

We have a while to wait on a North American release, but Muramasa Rebirth is seeing its PS Vita release in Japan on March 28. The game's publisher Marvelous AQL put the opening video up on YouTube for all to see -- take a look above.

The Vita opening is identical to the game's original release on the Wii, though Muramasa Rebirth has been upgraded to HD.

Aksys is handling a brand new localization for the title as well as publishing in the West. Look for it on the PlayStation Vita later this year.

Aksys Localizing Otome Visual Novel Featuring Keiji Inafune https://www.gameskinny.com/xi2qc/aksys-localizing-otome-visual-novel-featuring-keiji-inafune https://www.gameskinny.com/xi2qc/aksys-localizing-otome-visual-novel-featuring-keiji-inafune Fri, 15 Feb 2013 03:27:48 -0500 Ashley Shankle

Aksys shows no fear in releasing niche titles, which they have proven with their otome titles Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom and Warriors of the Shinsengumi. They're taking it a step further with Sweet Fuse: At Your Side, featuring Mega Man and Dead Rising creator Keiji Inafune.

Titled Bakudan Handan in Japan, Sweet Fuse: At Your Side features the developer's niece, Saki Inafune. All visual novel and all otome, the game follows her as her uncle's theme park (What.) comes under attack. Her tasks are as follows:

  1. Save her uncle.
  2. Find a suitable boyfriend among those also trapped in the theme park.

The second one isn't a task per se, but is the primary drive behind the otome genre. There is no escaping it.

Sweet Fuse: At Your Side will be making its way to the PSP this summer. If you're looking for your otome fix a bit sooner, Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi will be released for the PSP on February 19. Only a few short days before you lose access to the Amazon preorder bonus!

Muramasa Rebirth Trailer Proves Beauty Can Get Better https://www.gameskinny.com/xhawe/muramasa-rebirth-trailer-proves-beauty-can-get-better https://www.gameskinny.com/xhawe/muramasa-rebirth-trailer-proves-beauty-can-get-better Thu, 14 Feb 2013 13:02:58 -0500 Ashley Shankle

The original Muramasa release on the Wii proved to be beautiful in its own right. The high attention to detail Vanillaware puts in the visuals in their games is something to be admired -- and the Rebirth on the Vita is going to bring that beauty to HD.

Aksys will be localizing Muramasa Rebirth and its DLC later this year. The trailer above is only a fraction of how good the game will look in action. Go away, YouTube video compression. You're ruining the view.

Muramasa Rebirth for the Vita Coming to North America https://www.gameskinny.com/38hg5/muramasa-rebirth-for-the-vita-coming-to-north-america https://www.gameskinny.com/38hg5/muramasa-rebirth-for-the-vita-coming-to-north-america Thu, 31 Jan 2013 08:17:11 -0500 Ashley Shankle

Muramasa: The Demon Blade was released on the Wii almost four years ago, and fans of Vanillaware's PS2 titles either had to cough up the cash for a Wii or deal with it. If you're one of those old fans that feel spurned or simply an action platformer fan with a lonely Vita, you're in luck: Aksys is bringing Muramasa Rebirth stateside with love.

Rebirth Changes

Along with the publishing, Aksys will be handling a brand new translation -- a welcome piece of news for those who played the original and snored through Ignition's localization. Fans will also be pleased to find out that there will now be a dedicated jump button as opposed to pressing "up" as in the Wii version of the game.

The upcoming Japanese DLC, Genroku Kaikitan, will also be localized and available for purchase soon after the game's release. This meaty DLC adds four additional characters to the game, each with a new scenario to play through.

Aksys has yet to announce a release date for Muramasa Rebirth, but it may be around March as the Genroku Kaikitan DLC is being released in Japan on March 13. We'll just have to wait and see!

Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi Closing In https://www.gameskinny.com/jt525/hakuoki-warriors-of-the-shinsengumi-closing-in https://www.gameskinny.com/jt525/hakuoki-warriors-of-the-shinsengumi-closing-in Thu, 17 Jan 2013 03:07:42 -0500 Ashley Shankle

Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi is coming to English-speaking PSP owners February 19th, and publisher Aksys Games has announced what goodies preorder holders will be able to get with the game.

It's nice to see the sequel to Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom get a proper localization, especially considering how niche of a game the original was. An otome (girls') visual novel on the PSP localized? I bought it for the simple novelty of its release.

Warriors of the Shinsengumi is a visual novel/action combination. It mixes in the visual novel aspects of the first game with Dynasty Warriors-style gameplay, in three different game modes.

Standard copies of the game will come with a 16 page character guide, featuring artwork of the game's characters in their in-game attire. Preordering from Amazon nets you a 22-inch bandana with a print of the game's eight playable characters.

I have to hand it to Aksys for not only localizing Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi -- not many publishers would localized this time of game, much less one on the PSP. Look for it on February 19th, or hop over to Amazon for that bandana preorder bonus.
