Guild Wars 2 is taking its April Fool’s day prank to a whole new level by releasing the Super Adventure Box. This Super Adventure Box is an 8-bit looking action/adventure game that occurs inside of the amazing graphical realism that is Guild Wars 2. From what the website has released, the game will play like any ordinary 8-bit adventure game. You will bounce and collect power up skills, much like Super Mario, and you can even challenge Lord Vanquish to earn unique rewards.

Super Adventure Box contains two entire worlds. World One appears to be a sunny forest-themed world with the end boss being a massive King Toad. Basically, World One is supposed to teach the players the new controls, and be pretty easy to get through. World Two is the mountain world, which increases the difficulty of the game. The end boss for this level is the mighty Storm Wizard.

By participating in this April Fool’s day adventure, you will have the chance to collect Super weapon skins in a bright orange color. And the chance to create your own super adventures in your guild hall with the new guild hall decorations.

Player will be able to participate in the Super Adventure Box from April 1 to April 19. For the rest of the details, check out AreaNet's website. Comment below to let me know what you think about this April Fool’s day prank.

Galaga: Tekken Edition is Actually Here https://www.gameskinny.com/3uo5u/galaga-tekken-edition-is-actually-here https://www.gameskinny.com/3uo5u/galaga-tekken-edition-is-actually-here Thu, 30 Apr 2015 08:20:06 -0400 Asante Simone

A game that was first teased as an April Fool's Day joke is actually being released!

Bandai Namco has started streaming a trailer for its newest smartphone game, Galaga: TEKKEN Edition. The game was first teased as a joke on April 1st, but it seems like the company was actually being serious.

It's been about 20 years since the first Tekken game was released, so it only seems right to create a game specifically to commemorate the anniversary. A crossover between the two games, Galaga: Tekken Edition was released today with some new tweaks and changes. The spaceships and aliens of the original Galaga game were replaced with pixel Tekken characters such as Heihachi Mishima, Lili, and Claudio Serafino. Other characters must be unlocked along the way, some of which will be characters from the most recent game, Tekken 7.

Each character has their own unique shooting style (Heihachi headbutts, Lili has rapid fire, Claudio shoots, etc.), but players can also combine powers of different characters to perform tag team attacks. The enemies of the game are also different from the original Galaga games. Instead of aliens, Heihachi, Lili, Claudio, and co. fight against King and his army of wrestlers, Bob, Ganryu, Jack, Xiaoyu, Panda, and Alisa. The game ends with a final battle against the Mishima family, typical of a Tekken game.

The game was released today, for free, on both the Apple App Store and on the Google Play store.

You Might be Able to Play Old Game Boy Cartridges on Your Smart Phone https://www.gameskinny.com/qfrba/you-might-be-able-to-play-old-game-boy-cartridges-on-your-smart-phone https://www.gameskinny.com/qfrba/you-might-be-able-to-play-old-game-boy-cartridges-on-your-smart-phone Mon, 06 Apr 2015 06:58:05 -0400 T.W. Hyperkin, a video game accessory maker, joke-announced for April Fool's that they would be releasing an accessory for your smartphone that would turn it into a Gameboy Color.

They later wrote on their Facebook about how it was, in fact, an April Fool's joke but said it had a bigger reason as well.  They wanted to test the market if the Smart Boy would in fact be something that they could develop:

“A lot of you were speculating that the Smart Boy is an April fool’s joke.  Well, it sort of was, we leaked it with the initial intent of testing the market, seeing whether or not it should be something we’d actually make, under the guise of the April fool’s joke.  Looks like you awesome folks ACTUALLY WANT IT, so the Smart Boy is now in development.  Thank you all for your enthusiastic responses!”

The concept is that the "Smart Boy" accessory would plug into your iPhone 6 Plus and on other smartphones in the future.  The adaptor would allow you to play Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges.  The Smart Boy would have the standard set of buttons, and your phone screen would display the game.  It has a built-in battery that can be charged by the phone and gameplay is said to last 5 hours.

Of course, when the adapter is released it may not look or function like the original announcement specified some features may change.

New Deus Ex Game Actually Painfully Cruel April Fool's Joke https://www.gameskinny.com/1xwzj/new-deus-ex-game-actually-painfully-cruel-april-fools-joke https://www.gameskinny.com/1xwzj/new-deus-ex-game-actually-painfully-cruel-april-fools-joke Mon, 01 Apr 2013 13:10:11 -0400 HC Billings

Late last night, Eidos Montreal announced via their Facebook page (currently defunct), that Deus Ex: Human Defiance would be revealed today. Since I've been alive for more than three days and I'm wary of what April the 1st means on the internet, I was dubious about the timing of this announcement.

Nevertheless, fans of the Deus Ex franchise held out hope for something--anything--tangible. Rumors of a book circulated in the Facebook comments amid hopeful longings for a film. One commenter demanded it "better be a game and not a movie," to the positive reply of "oh, it is!"

Turns out, Eidos Montreal wasn't quite telling the truth. Deus Ex: Human Defiance was revealed in the above video this morning to my own choked screaming. Not because it was an excellently-played April Fool's prank, but because... I kind of want it.

8-bit Deus Ex? Co-op play where you hurl Jensen into approaching enemies? The (very highbrow) trailer explains that the 8-bit choice for Human Defiance would be able to deliver things like "more augmentations, more travel to... places we thought [were] impossible to play these into past games." One of the pieces from the trailer that sucked me in was the promise of even more conspiratorial action. "If there's one thing the pixels allows us to do... it's deeper conspiracies."

Eidos Montreal explained the spark of the Human Defiance joke to Kotaku via Twitter:

@kotaku When it was decided "Human Defiance" wouldn't be used we took the opportunity to have a little fun. Hope you guys had a laugh :)

No, Eidos Montreal. I didn't have a good laugh. It turns out when you make something neat, even if it's in 8-bit, people still want to play it. You've sparked a strange passion in me, and I can't quite tell what it is. But it's certainly made with pixels.
