Rules of Survival Announces "Hunt the Streamer" Event for December 17th Fri, 15 Dec 2017 11:38:25 -0500 It's Gavin!

The battle royale genre has been beloved this year, and NetEase is using that love to make the holidays a bit greener -- with $30,000! December 17th will mark the beginning of the Rules of Survival "Hunt the Streamer" event.

The rules for the contest are easy to break down:

  1. Join a match with the streamer according to their world server (EU, US, and Asia) and match type (Solo, Duo, and Squad).
  2. Find the streamer in-game. They will be wearing pumpkin-shaped helmets to show their status.
  3. Take 'em out. If you're one of the lucky few to defeat a streamer, you'll be placed in a lottery for $100, and you'll win 1,000 in-game gold coins. Since there are 30 streamers announced for the event, this gives players a (statistically unlikely) possibility of winning $30,000.

Streamers who have been confirmed for the event include LIRIK and AnomalyXd. DrDisrespect, as pictured above, was originally meant to join the streamer hunt. However, he has announced he will cancel events and livestreaming after revealing infidelity to his wife.

The event will begin at 12:00 a.m. on December 17th and end at 11:59 p.m., lasting all day. What do you think? Will you try for a $100 cash prize on the 17th? Let us know what you think.

Get Your Fart Featured In South Park: The Fractured But Whole Mon, 02 Oct 2017 13:37:42 -0400 adam.leviness

Ubisoft is holding a one-of-a-kind contest to allow one lucky fan to be featured as “the official in-game fart” of the new South Park: The Fractured But Whole video game. The winner of the contest will be flown to California, where they will record the very best of their fart noises at Ubisoft’s San Francisco Studios. They will then get to see their fart integrated into the game by Ubisoft's development team.

The creators of South Park have built a media empire around fart jokes -- and the newest game is embracing those jokes while letting fans in on the fun. Contestants can submit ten-second clips of their fart noises at the I Am The Fart official contest website. These entries will then be voted on by the community. The contest runs from October 2 to October 16.

The Fractured But Whole is the second game in the series following the classic turn-based RPG that followed you, “the new kid,” as he went on a large fantasy adventure. This time around the boys and your character are playing superheroes and your superpower is your superhuman ability to pass gas.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be released on the October 17, and is now available for pre-order.

PlayStation launches Emerging Filmmakers Program Mon, 26 Jun 2017 12:47:29 -0400 daisy_blonde

Sony Interactive Entertainment America (SIEA) has officially announced today an Emerging Filmmakers Program in the United States. This program was first announced at the TERMINUS Conference and Festival in Atlanta – an event celebrating the intersection of film and gaming.

Budding filmmakers aged over 18 and based in the United States have until August 1st, 2017 to submit their ideas on the PlayStation Emerging Filmmakers website. The top 10 will be selected by August 21st and flown to LA, where they will have the opportunity to pitch their idea to a panel of judges from PlayStation and the film industry. Out of this shortlist, the judges will pick 5 pitches to make into pilot shows, which will be available to view on PS4. These pilots may also be given the green light to begin production as fully fledged TV shows.

SIEA is running this contest alongside creative agency Ideas United, who most notably introduced the Campus MovieFest in 2001, allowing students at various universities across the US to get their work showcased throughout the world. Senior Vice President of Marketing at SIEA, Eric Lampel, stated:

"PlayStation is the home to powerful narratives in video games, and now we're extending that into the world of original video content. This program presents a great opportunity for the next generation of filmmakers, and we look forward to discovering and fostering new talent alongside the PlayStation community."

With the growing availability of TV shows on the PlayStation Store, this contest will potentially allow the console to have its own original programming rivaling that of Amazon and Netflix.

15 Awesome Builds from PewDiePie's Tuber Simulator Fri, 14 Oct 2016 01:19:57 -0400 ChocolateCat42

You made it to the final slide. Ryan McCoy's (Tuber name AceDoesYouTube) Bro Fist is well-earned.

Whittling builds down to a top 15 was tough-- I don't know how PewDiePie is going to choose! Best of luck to all entrants!

Boingin's channel focuses on the latest internet music sensation, including Slippy and the Blow-Up Dolls. Rumor has it their drummer deflated under pressure. No wonder Boingin looks so surprised!

BadSanta was so focused on whether or not he could, he didn't question if he should. Despite an entire trilogy and a newer film explaining why this is a bad idea, BadSanta went and built a miniature Jurassic Park. Let's hope that camouflage of plants keeps the Tuber safe when those eggs hatch!

Shirogue's channel highlights the age-old rivalry between cats and dogs. Slippy remains impartial as he works on a documentary following the leader from each force. Personally, I say the cats win this round-- their fort looks far more comfortable.

Considering October is practically synonymous with Halloween, I found TalkToHand's Tuber UseCodeSUCC's build to be thematically appropriate. Something wicked this way comes, if our skimpy summoner has anything to say out of that large tome.

Alipunn-kun continues the more professional aspirations with this studio. Just look at that production team! With Maya and Edgar heading the film crew and Slippy in charge of review, Alipunn-kun must put out some quality content. It's too bad he doesn't have better cohosts. One is super stiff on camera, and the other is just lifeless.

Rockyyoyo2 shows us a more classy design, with this open-office inspired layout. Do you think Maya and Edgar are there as advisers, or looking for a new Tuber to live with...? Don't tell PewDiePie!

Not everyone came for the contest. Poor BigCowLover wanted everyone to know that he had been captured by an evil goldfish and was being forced to make videos. Just look at the giant electric fence keeping him inside! They could at least give him a mattress for that bed. Goodness knows we internet citizens have bad enough backs from sitting at our computers all day.

This indoor garden paradise was submitted by BoredCrysis. The perfect mix of relaxing and entertaining, I could spend hours in this room. Do you think he'll stream the egg hatching? I had better subscribe to his channel just in case...

Tomrusz's build features an impressively constructed cardboard fort. the perfect defense against anything...except, it would seem, cats. Then again, why keep them out?

Zagiri (aka zagiri100x) seems to have found his core message: animal sports! He has a great view of the game, with two referees and some feathered spectators to keep him company. Maya and Edgar's teams look ready to face off-- be sure to check out Zagiri's Tuber channel to see who wins.

Don't expect an invitation to RadhidhaihiaThariq's Tuber Thariqq's studio anytime soon. This exclusive set is a clubhouse quite specifically for ducks. Maya and Edgar are VIPs in the Bro Army, so they get a pug pass. This time.

What's a duck's favorite game?

Billiards, obviously.

...I'll see myself out, Thariqq...

Aladdin Andig takes inspiration from late night talk shows everywhere for his room. Host desk, guest chairs, band slot, and a green screen for skits make up his personal Tuber studio. Don't even think about stealing his guitars-- security is watching.

Here, we find that AregusTV has discovered the secret to internet success: cat videos. Who wouldn't be smiling like the pictured Tuber in a studio full of the internet's cutest superstars?

Tmoxz is next, with this awesome aquatic set up. This looks like something the boys from Tanked would drool over. Just think of the water bill for this room! I especially enjoy the columns of stacked cylinder tanks in each corner and the fist arcade games for downtime when Tmoxz takes a break from streaming on Tuber.

Our first build comes from Tuber thechosentwo (aka sek10ng). Thechosentwo makes excellent use of stackable items, giving his room the appearance of a three-layer studio apartment. The first layer is a garden outside space, the second layer is his streaming office, and the topmost layer is a gaming room.

PewDiePie's Tuber Simulator has only been out for a short while, and already we're seeing some great builds. Players will eventually enjoy a feature that allows them to view the builds of top players. In the meantime, PewDiePie himself has decided to host a contest in his forums on to find the current best build, offering a prize of verification. With 300+ pages of responses, he has quite the task cut out for him.

Instead of sending you on a hunt, I waded through pages of poop jokes, bro fists, and inside jokes to bring you 15 of the best builds submitted. Without further ado, and in no particular order, enjoy these awesome builds.

Blizzard Opens Last Call Contest for Entries Wed, 31 Aug 2016 02:57:24 -0400 Glitchieetv

XSEED held a hidden contest for Senran Kagura Sun, 29 May 2016 07:57:20 -0400 TheSmartestMoron

On May 27th of 2016, a contest came to an end. But it was never officially announced until it was over. Rather, fans of the series found out through social media -- specifically a Twitter account for Katsuragi from Senran Kagura. She had previously linked to a website where all the characters from the Versus series (barring the Festival Girls and Ryoki) were brought into an online chat by her classmate, Ikaruga, to discuss problems. As expected, it was more of a humorous situation that ended when a spam bot invaded the chat. Yet as the skit ended, something caught the attention of some fans.

That wasn't the only bit of weirdness, as there were other events happening on a wide variety of sites -- and some things that the Senran International Academy forum members were able to figure out. That brings us to May 27th, where the Katsuragi Twitter picture kept changing, turning gradually into static.

Eventually, it was revealed that some general had taken it over. Specifically, one of the Yoma Generals in Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson -- the same generals that were made by one of the former supporters of Hebijo, Dogen. In both the 3DS and Vita series (both following their own continuity), Dogen was believed to be dead. It's currently unknown if they plan to have him return as a major antagonist.

Through investigation, fans were able to find a password and username to a site where Orochi questioned anyone who signed in.

XSEED did eventually announce winners for the event:

What an interesting way to hold a contest. It's currently unknown if there is a new Senran Kagura game coming, though Estival Versus just released back in March, and Shinovi Versus is coming to the PC in June. You can see my video reviews of Estival Versus and Shinovi Versus if you wish to see how they hold up. In the meantime, congratulations to the winners! And yes, the Katsuragi Twitter account is back to normal!

Any picture sources were gathered by members of the Senran International Academy forums, save for the chat (I used MS paint and screen capture). Senran Kagura is developed by Tamsoft, and published by XSEED in North America.

Sea of Thieves - Play It First Contest! Fri, 25 Mar 2016 05:15:36 -0400 Capt. Eliza Creststeel

The mates at Rare Ltd. (makers of classic games like Banjo Kazooie, GoldenEye 007, and Donkey Kong Country) teased their upcoming pirate MMO game last June at E3. The Xbox One/Windows 10 title caused a stir with its colorful graphics, open sea-faring world, and gameplay potential.

Now, those scurvy dogs are offerin' to pick a select crew of buccaneers to jump aboard and set sail as the first player pirates!

And one a' them lubbers could be you. How?

Soul of a Poet

Show the captains at Rare just how much of a video game pirate you can be. And by game pirate, I'm not meaning stealing video games. You can post a picture or a video of yourself expressing your inner pirate and let them be the judges.

They're looking for the most creative entries. Don a costume, strap on a cutlass, head out to sea, release the Kraken, sing a shanty, etc. etc.

"We want fans to be at the center of everything we do with Sea of Thieves!"

The intent is to get folks involved and to show they (Rare) wants to build 'strong relationships with their fans and players'. Fan feedback is something Rare says they deem critically important.

Not sure how to do that? Well, fear not. Some entries can already be seen at the Sea of Thieves website. Perhaps, they will inspire your cutthroat creativity.

Check Out the Booty!

It may not be pieces of eight, but Rare will shower 6 Grand Prize winners with a nice haul.

  • Round trip airfare to England
  • Transportation between the airport, hotel, and studio
  • Three (3) nights hotel stay
  • Daily Meals
  • A tour of the Rare Ltd. Studio

And finally the singular prize is being one of the first players to get their hands on a controller and play Sea of Thieves. For all the finer print, check out the Contest Rules.

Message in a Bottle

You still have until April 26th to post your contest entry to:

  • Twitter. Post a link to your image or video to @SeaOfThieves, include #SeaOfThievesContest in the Tweet.
  • Facebook. Post a link to your image or video on their Facebook wall, and include #SeaOfThievesContest in your post.

Check out the Just Cause 3 trailer contest finalists Sun, 22 Nov 2015 16:16:12 -0500 Gabriella Graham

After releasing a new game trailer, Square Enix narrowed down the thousands of submissions to their "My Just Cause 3 Trailer" contest to 21 lucky finalists.  Judges must now select just three of the final contestants as the top dogs in their respective "Best of" categories. From those three winners, one overall champion will be declared. Read on for a look at those finalists while the judges deliberate.

First, let's backtrack to the contest details

The contest began in October with a final submission deadline on November 12th. The contest page teased valuable prizes before issuing a challenge:

Do you think you have what it takes to create the Just Cause 3 Launch Trailer? Now is your chance to prove it! Show us what you can do in a one to two-minute video. We are giving you complete freedom to come up with your own unique trailer, and the winner will become the official Just Cause 3 launch trailer!

These trailers sought to showcase the game's atmosphere via action-packed, humorous, and/or whimsical routes. Contestants were given a wide birth for creativity, as the rules allowed animated sequences, live action movies, and gamplay trailers using previously released Just Cause 3 footage.

While one overall winner will take home the biggest and baddest prize pool, a panel of judges will also announce three winners who've demonstrated mastery in the Best Action, Best use of Audio and Best Humor categories.

These three winners will each receive the same prize package. Their loot includes:

  • Top spec PC-rig, including latest 6th Gen Intel Core i7 Processor (also known as Skylake) and UHD monitor
  • Collector’s Edition of Just Cause 3
  • NEAT microphone
  • SONAR Steam Edition Professional

One of these three contestants will also be promoted to legendary status as the fan who created the official Just Cause 3 launch trailer. Oh, and of course they'll receive bonus winnings in addition to the previous package. Along with epic and artistically nerdy bragging rights, the number one video creator will win prizes worth $5,000:

  • KRK - RPG6 studio reference speakers
  • Tascam - 2x2 Audio Interface
  • Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro Guitar
  • SONAR Steam Edition Platinum
Square Enix surprises their finalists

Opelova announced the collective playlist of 21 outstanding trailer submissions on the official website's blog. Every entry, however, received a special moment of thanks and recognition, complete with typed applause. Judges decided on finalists based on their presentation of "a highly commendable level of skill, effort or originality in one of the three categories."

The exciting announcement of extra prizes followed the news. Bold, capitalized words (that's how you know it's either great news or an urgent warning) promised each of the 21 finalists surprise loot. These lucky contestants will now receive:

  • An exclusive Just Cause 3 Xmas jumper
  • A magnetic Rico
  • A signed copy of the Just Cause 3 comic
  • The Just Cause 3 game on their preferred platform.

While it's unclear exactly when the winners will be announced, the news should make it the official website and blog first, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.

Dying Light devs want player-written letters in post office-themed expansion Thu, 24 Sep 2015 08:00:45 -0400 Chelsea Senecal

The developers of Polish Studio are asking fans to write letters for the upcoming Dying Light expansion, The Following, which takes place in a post office. The dev team is encouraging Fans to send in letters at 200 words max. Polish Studio will then select their favorites to include in the game.

The letters strewn all over the floor will readable by players, and the letters' content will be written by the players. Those selected will all receive credit. The development team hopes to encourage those who send their submissions to create and express "distress, horror, or bravery" to go with the zombie apocalypse theme. Imagine you are a survivor. Who do you write to? What do you say? The team wants writers to place themselves in that situation and then go for it.

Producer Tymon Smektala explains:

"We've already seen what fans can do when creating awesome stuff for us. So we found a cool little way to let them actually be a part of the story and have their efforts and names appear in our game forever. Just no dick pics, please."

If you are interested in getting involved, the rules are here

The release date for the expansion has not been announced.
