The upcoming closed beta for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will begin on April 22, DICE have announced.

Design Director Erik Odeldahl wrote the following in a blog post on the game’s official website:

“It’s an exhilarating feeling, being this close to the launch of Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst. The team here at DICE has made a true leap of faith, and with the upcoming Closed Beta we intend to make the landing as smooth as possible.”

The beta will last for five days, ending on April 26, and will include “several” main missions, side missions and “other optional content.”

Odeldahl notes that the closed beta is not representative of the final product and is intended to gather player feedback on the first-person action game, in addition to testing its Social Play and online systems.

Those who are lucky enough to be selected to participate in the beta and signed up to be a Frontrunner should expect their code to arrive via email on April 22, while others will get theirs the day after on April 23.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is set to release on May 24, 2016 in North America and May 26, 2016 in Europe for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst: Closed beta sign up and new trailer! https://www.gameskinny.com/wyedw/mirrors-edge-catalyst-closed-beta-sign-up-and-new-trailer https://www.gameskinny.com/wyedw/mirrors-edge-catalyst-closed-beta-sign-up-and-new-trailer Thu, 04 Feb 2016 11:10:03 -0500 Alec Pearce

A brand new trailer for Mirror's Edge: Catalyst was released on YouTube today, teasing parts of the story and elements of gameplay that were "captured in-engine."

Check it out:

The game certainly looks fantastic and is set to be a significant improvement over the original that came out back in 2008. Gameplay has been refined, with DICE removing the clunky gun fights for example, and the story should be even more engrossing this time around.

Although Catalyst is set for a release date of 24th May 2016, you can potentially play the game far earlier as EA and DICE have just opened registration for the closed beta. It will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

To gain access, head over to the official ME: Catalyst website and sign up. You will need an EA account to do this, but you can create one just before registering for the beta itself.

New Mirror's Edge will NOT be a sequel https://www.gameskinny.com/n0z3w/new-mirrors-edge-will-not-be-a-sequel https://www.gameskinny.com/n0z3w/new-mirrors-edge-will-not-be-a-sequel Tue, 09 Jun 2015 20:15:33 -0400 CallSignDriver

Today, DICE posted an announcement on the official Mirror's Edge webpage welcoming all of us to Mirror's Edge Catalyst. While the details are a little fuzzy on what Catalyst actually is, one thing is made clear: it is not meant to be a sequel to Mirror's Edge.

This is not a sequel, this is not Mirror's Edge 2. We have landed on a vision that honors the first game — pushing the boundaries of first person movement and diving deeper into the story behind our heroine Faith — but also brings a lot of great new, interesting gameplay and features to the experience for our players.

- Sara Jansson, Senior Producer for Mirror's Edge Catalyst

So... the game still features Faith, and you still do parkour. If it's not a sequel, then what else could it be? There was already some buzz suggesting that the game might be a prequel to the original Mirror's Edge, or perhaps even a reboot of the property. Considering that this series still only consists of a single game, I wouldn't go as far as to call this new title a reboot, but I do think this new entry in the series may be intended as a sort of "jumping-on point" for anyone interested in trying Mirror's Edge for the first time.

And then there's this statement:

The first game had a lot of promise. It was unlike anything else in terms of the gameplay and style — it had a unique soul. But as much as we loved that game, we knew it could be more. So that’s what we have set out to do as we introduce Mirror’s Edge to a new generation.

Jannson seems almost regretful that the original Mirror's Edge didn't live up to its full potential. This could indicate a few things. Maybe the next Mirror's Edge means to add a great deal more complexity to the formula. Maybe it's hopping genres into foreign territory, while still retaining as much of the original charm as possible. It's all still pretty up in the air at the moment.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is expected to release sometime in the first quarter of 2016. For more information, be sure to check out the official Mirror's Edge website.

The Wolf Among Us is a episodical series coming from adventure game giants Telltale Games. In this game, based off of the popular Bill Willingham comic book series Fables, you play as Sheriff Bigby. Bigby, also known as "the Big Bad Wolf," tries to solve disturbances and crimes in the fabled community that resides inside the mundane world.

Currently there are two episodes of The Wolf Among Us. They include "Faith" and "Smoke and Mirrors." I will be writing guides and walkthroughs for both, and if you have any specific requests, please let me know in the comments below.

The Wolf Among Us Episode 1: Faith Crime Scene Walkthrough https://www.gameskinny.com/9hn9p/the-wolf-among-us-episode-1-faith-crime-scene-walkthrough https://www.gameskinny.com/9hn9p/the-wolf-among-us-episode-1-faith-crime-scene-walkthrough Wed, 05 Feb 2014 09:09:06 -0500 Amanda Wallace

In The Wolf Among Us, you play as Sheriff Bigby the martial leader of a group of Fabled figures. Near the beginning of the first episode, you encounter the decapitated head of a Fable (one of the storybook creatures.) At this point, she has not been identified other than your initial interaction with her and the Woodsman in the opening scene.

Now her head has ended up on the doorstep of your home, having been found there by Snow White.

This scene is an investigation, and this is a quick walkthrough of the relevant items that you find there.

The Head

The head is the first part of the scene you'll want to look at. Clicking on the eye gives you a bit of exposition on the placement of the head. After all, she wasn't killed at this location-- meaning someone had to drop her off here.

The click on the mouth will talk about the ribbon that stuck there. This is the same ribbon that she was wearing around her neck earlier, except that it has a sigil ring tied to the end. The ring will go into your inventory.

The neck click will talk about the severity of the injury and how the wound had to be inflicted with a weapon that was very sharp, or possessed magic.

The Sidewalk

Snow will ask you if you want to leave or continue investigating. There are still places to investigate if you want to, and you'll need to select "investigate more" if you would like to continue.

You'll want to go right at this point.

To the right is a blood trail, which you can stop and look at as well as touch. The blood is relatively fresh, about an hour. Once you reach the end of the walk way, there is scrap of fabric. You'll want to look at and pick the fabric up. Bigby determines that the fabric is jean like material, and picking it up will put it in your inventory.

The Alleyway

At the end of the sidewalk and up there is a trashcan and iron fence. Opening the trashcan will not give you any clues, but the top of the fence is covered in blood.

When you get back to Snow, you can compare the fabric to the fabric on her skirt. This will not reveal any more clues.
