While some fan-made content is high quality, and some of it not so much, there is some that's just plain fun. Why? Because it's been pulled straight out of our childhood imagination. In this fan-made video, "Star Fox vs Star Wars Invasion: Battle for Earth" by King Bob Videos, has taken two of the most well-known space series and blended them together for one epic battle.

The video starts out simple enough, with Earth military forces trying -- and failing -- to stop the Galactic Empire from taking over our world. All hope seems lost until we hear the familiar "Good luck!" and Mission Start screen from the Star Fox series. The result is a beautiful cinematic battle between Fox's team and the Imperials.

While the video does lend itself more to Star Fox lore than Star Wars, it is still an entertaining watch that will bring a smile to the faces of fans for either series. You can check out the video for yourself at the top of this article, or follow this link to watch it on YouTube.

Star Fox Zero amiibo functionality detailed https://www.gameskinny.com/eectu/star-fox-zero-amiibo-functionality-detailed https://www.gameskinny.com/eectu/star-fox-zero-amiibo-functionality-detailed Tue, 05 Apr 2016 13:59:06 -0400 Eric Levy

With Star Fox Zero's release coming soon, Nintendo has detailed how amiibo will work in the game.

If you have a Falco amiibo, you'll unlock a Black Airwing, while swiping a Fox amiibo unlocks a SNES-era Airwing for use in-game -- as seen in the gameplay video below.

While there have been rumors of Nintendo releasing an Airwing amiibo alongside the new game, Star Fox Zero producer Shigeru Miyamoto recently confirmed no such amiibo is in development.  In a recent interview with IGN, Miyamoto had the following to say on the subject:

“Unfortunately, we won’t be releasing an Arwing amiibo.  We did have a few prototypes. There was an Arwing amiibo that transforms into the Walker, but we weren’t able to turn that into a product that could meet safety guidelines for children.”

TL;DR: Miyamoto had ideas for the amiibo he thought would be cool, but Nintendo doesn't want small children hurting themselves on a pointy spaceship.

Are you going to pick up Star Fox Zero when it launches April 22nd?  Which special Airwing has you most excited?  Are you worried about pointy amiibo and appreciate Nintendo's concern?  Let us know in the comments below!

The latest installment of the Star Fox series, Star Fox Zero, releases in just 2 more weeks! https://www.gameskinny.com/ooaf3/the-latest-installment-of-the-star-fox-series-star-fox-zero-releases-in-just-2-more-weeks https://www.gameskinny.com/ooaf3/the-latest-installment-of-the-star-fox-series-star-fox-zero-releases-in-just-2-more-weeks Sat, 02 Apr 2016 10:22:58 -0400 David Fisher

Star Fox and general Nintendo fans won't have to wait much longer for StarFox Zero to hit store shelves as the release date approaches faster than Slippy can say "Help me Fox!". While there has been a handful of delays, and rumors of a future one, the game is finally going to land in the hands of players on April 22nd.

Part of Nintendo's fan-dubbed space series, Star Fox has always been a bit of a niche title. While not nearly as popular as Metroid, Fox McCloud and his team of anthropomorphic animal pilots have gained quite the reputation with Nintendo fans, especially those who play the Super Smash Bros. series. Star Fox Zero will see the Star Fox team set out once more to defend the Lylat System from the clutches of the evil Andross, with the game acting as a re-imagining of Star Fox 64

While the idea of buying yet another version of Lylat Wars may seem a bit much at this point, fans do have quite a few new features to look forward to in Star Fox Zero.

First, and foremost, is the introduction of the new Wii U Gamepad controls. Players will be able to fly using the TV screen while aiming in directions not possible in previous games. The Gamepad will open up new ways to attack enemies and can even be used in a brand new cooperative mode where one player can aim the Arwing, Landmaster, or Gyrowing's weapons.

Second, there's the brand new Walker-Mode for the Arwing. This feature - which was originally created for the scrapped SNES title Star Fox 2 - allows players to fight from the ground while piloting an Arwing. This may seem like a strange addition to the Arwing, but it completely changes gameplay by allowing players to get out of enemy anti-air fire, as well as crawl into areas inaccessible by the Arwing. What other uses this new feature will have in-game remains to be seen.

Lastly, players should expect a bunch of new missions thanks to the strange portals that have been added to a number of classic worlds. These portals lead to strange new worlds and missions that haven't been seen before. While their purpose is not yet known, we can be sure that it won't take long for players to find out the true nature behind these strange rifts in time and space.

Remember, physical copies of the game will be bundled together with Star Fox Guard, the new side-game inspired by Miyamoto's Project Guard game that was shown several E3s ago. However, this will only apply to the first run of prints, so if you want to get both physical copies then be sure to grab a pre-order sooner than later. Both games will also be available individually on the Nintendo e-shop for a lower price.

What do you think of Star Fox Zero so far? Are you convinced to buy it? Would you have preferred to see a game with similar gameplay to Star Fox Assault or Star Fox Adventures more? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

On October 13th, 2015, Best Buy in conjunction with Nintendo will be offering an exclusive pre-order for the new Falco amiibo.

The Falco amiibo is based on the character Falco from the popular Star Fox franchise. This amiibo is compatible with many of the amiibo-enabled games on the Wii U and 3DS systems, including Super Smash Bros., Super Mario Maker, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Sales of the Falco amiibo are limited to one per customer, and quantities are limited. Pre-orders are first come, first serve.

Amiibos are figurines designed to work with the Nintendo WiiU and 3DS systems to add additional functionality to some games. Amiibos can be tapped against the WiiU tablet controller or the new 3DS to add additional characters, secret levels, and even extra lives to games which have Amiibo integration enabled. More information on Nintendo's Amiibo system can be found at Nintendo's Amiibo site.

The Falco amiibo will release on November 20th, 2015. It is currently available for pre-order for the price of $12.99 USD through BestBuy.com only.

Character Unlocks in Super Smash Bros Wii U https://www.gameskinny.com/nftwu/character-unlocks-in-super-smash-bros-wii-u https://www.gameskinny.com/nftwu/character-unlocks-in-super-smash-bros-wii-u Sun, 23 Nov 2014 08:42:27 -0500 Eric Nicolai

With the launch of Super Smash Bros Wii U edition, players will be looking to unlock all the fighters as quickly as possible. This short guide will tell you who you can unlock and how to get them.

First, there are characters unlocked at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, and 100 versus matches played. This includes online play, Smash Mode, 8-Player Smash, or Special Smash. Other than that, each character has certain requirements that have to be met prior to challenging them.

Falco will likely be the first challenger. He is unlocked one of two ways. The first option is ten versus matches; these matches will rack up quickly and will probably be the way to unlock him.

However, the other option is to beat Classic mode on any difficulty level. Either option will be easy enough.

In the event that players are going through with the versus mode option to unlock characters, Wario will be next in line. He'll challenge you after twenty matches.

The other route to having Wario challenge you is to complete the one hundred man smash.

She will challenge you after thirty matches, which may be the fast route.

Alternatively, she'll unlock after you beat Classic mode (and Master Core) at a 5.5 difficulty rating or higher.

Dark Pit

This re-skinned option of Pit will challenge you after forty matches.

The other option is to beat All-Star mode on the Normal difficulty setting. (Again, unless you are well-prepared, it would seem the easier way is to go ahead and rack up the versus matches.)

Dr. Mario

This alter-ego character is available after fifty matches are racked up.

The faster route is to beat one Master Order on Hard difficulty with any character.

This robotic fighter will come into play after sixty rounds of fighting.

The other option (which may be difficult) is to beat Crazy Hand after completing 10 matches in Crazy Orders with any character.

Mr. Game and Watch

Mr. Game and Watch will approach you once you hit eighty matches.

The faster option is to beat Classic mode with five characters. This does not have to be set on any specific difficulty.

Duck Hunt

Duck Hunt seems like a joke of a character, but he will be available after one hundred matches.

Alternatively, you must knock out one fighter in cruel smash. Either way, this character will take some patience getting unlocked.

Keep in mind if you choose to do this legit or not, there is an easy way to get characters unlocked. If you want to take a sort of shortcut, you can set the stock match to one life and go against one computer. Then try to walk off the edge. That makes one match complete. Then all you do is rinse and repeat ninety-nine more times. But the game is fun, so you will likely unlock all the characters just by putting in time.
