If you just can't wait to get your hands on a copy of Far Cry Primal, then you're (kind of) in luck. According to Major Nelson, Xbox One users can download their copy of the game before Far Cry Primal's release date of February 23. Obviously, you can't play it until the 23rd, but at least you won't have to wait for anything to play it on the release day.

Naturally, Far Cry Primal comes in two editions, both with their own pre-order bonuses. The normal edition comes with three bonus missions where you drink some shaman's magical mystical shaman juice to get to play as a mammoth. It also comes with a free copy of Valiant Hearts: The Great War, a 2D adventure puzzle game where you follow the story of various characters (along with a dog) from both sides of World War I.

The Far Cry Primal Apex Edition comes with the magical mystical mammoth missions, a copy of Valiant Hearts: The Great War, and five in-game bonus item packs. These bonus packs include a bloody club made of bone and teeth that cannot be broken by fire or combat (in other words, feel free to bash a large number of skulls in), various crafting recipes and crafting materials, and various animal companions (which are variations of the mammoths, saber-tooth tigers, and owls that you can normally obtain in the game, of course).

Including Valiant Hearts: The Great War as a pre-order bonus is an interesting incentive though, even if it was one of the free games that you could download several month ago. On release, Valiant Hearts received fairly positive review scores with most reviewers praising the art style and story, though the gameplay wasn't considered to be anything revolutionary.

Ubisoft has a bright idea to promote the next entry in the Far Cry series. Far Cry Primal is set in the stone age, so to celebrate they want a fan to experience stone age living for themselves. The winner will receive a free stay in a French wilderness cave. They're accomplishing this through the "Night in a Cave" sweepstakes. The winner will have to explain, via Twitter, why they think a free night in a cave is a good idea.

You get to sleep outside for free!

Sorry American fans, the event is not available to you. "Night in a Cave" is open to France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. One person and a companion will win a stay in a 500€-per-night cave located in the Pyrénées area of France.

The lucky winner will be flown to a Hotel where they will spend the evening. In the morning they will then receive professional survival training. Your night in the cave begins that night! A video explaining the promotion was can be viewed below. Although bizarre, this is really an official Ubisoft promotion.

Fans can enter by sending a tweet to @FarCryPrimal and including #cavebnb in the message. The message should include why they want to stay in a cave in the French wilderness in the middle of winter.

Full contest rules are available here. Have fun tweeting ahead of this epic release. Far Cry Primal will launch February 23 for PS4 and Xbox One. The PC edition release the following week on March 1.

Far Cry Primal will not have co-op https://www.gameskinny.com/b482b/far-cry-primal-will-not-have-co-op https://www.gameskinny.com/b482b/far-cry-primal-will-not-have-co-op Thu, 07 Jan 2016 17:05:52 -0500 Jeff D_7921

Hope you enjoy hunting alone. Far Cry Primal will not have co-op or any form of multiplayer. Ubisoft community manager, Jason Paradise confirmed on the game's s team forum today that Far Cry Primal is a single-player only experience.

"We are focusing entirely on creating the best possible Far Cry experience for our fans. Bringing the Stone Age to life and providing players with a strong gameplay experience based off of the Far Cry legacy meant we had to reinvent our core gameplay loop. This was definitely not a small undertaking. Our focus was on delivering this fantasy which required clear priorities for the team. Therefore, in the early stages of the project, we made the difficult choice of focusing our efforts on the single player experience."

It's worth noting that the previous entry, Far Cry 4 did include Co-op and even had some missions structured around it. I loved flying in on the Buzzer (or bad-ass mini chopper as Hurk called it) while my friend stormed through the front gate on an elephant causing glorious chaos to enemy camps.

Now I did play a majority of the game by myself, but I liked having the option to have a buddy drop in at any moment and felt it added replay value to the game. The idea of fighting tigers and other beasts with others in the prehistoric setting sounds like it would have made for a good time.

Far Cry Primal is scheduled to launch February 23 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while coming to PC on March 1. What are your thoughts? Are you bummed or indifferent about no co-op? Let us know in the comments below.

Far Cry Primal officially announced with release date https://www.gameskinny.com/pidi0/far-cry-primal-officially-announced-with-release-date https://www.gameskinny.com/pidi0/far-cry-primal-officially-announced-with-release-date Tue, 06 Oct 2015 11:47:04 -0400 Curtis Dillon

Ubisoft has officially announced Far Cry Primal, which is set to release on February 23 for PS4 and Xbox One, then in March on PC.

Far Cry Primal is a new game in the popular series and it will take players back to prehistoric times where you will fight wooly mammoths, rival tribes, and the environment in order to survive and prosper. You can check out the official announcement trailer below.

Far Cry Primal was teased yesterday on YouTube with a live stream of a cave painting, then it was accidentally announced via IGN Turkey's Twitter page - which was then suspended. The game had been rumoured earlier in the year, but it seemed unlikely due to Far Cry 4 only having released last fall. Given the very quick turnaround, it's obvious that Ubisoft handed the reigns of this spin-off to another internal dev team.

Set in 10,000 BC, Far Cry Primal puts you in the shoes of Takkar, "a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group." In order to survive the dangerous land of Oros, players "will have to craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts, hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators and face off against other tribes to conquer Oros."

It seems that Primal will follow many of the usual Far Cry tropes: hunting, killing and skinning animals, strategically taking down outposts, and upgrading your character. There are a few new features like using fire and corpses to attract animals. The art from the cave painting, however, does suggest you will have a sabretooth tiger as a companion. Yes, please! Check out this cool development video from Ubisoft where they discuss the game's inspirations and aspirations.

Far Cry Primal is set to release in February and March of next year, which officially reveals it to be the AAA game Ubisoft referred to in its last investor report. The announcement of Primal means the spring release schedule is now more hectic than ever before. It seems that the success of Dying Light and Bloodborne, among others, have made studios realize that we will buy games at any point in the year, not just the fall.

Next spring will see the release of (in chronological order): Lego Marvel Avengers, The Witness, XCOM 2, Battleborn, Mighty No. 9, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Far Cry Primal, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst, Tom Clancy's: The Division, Hitman, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Quantum Break, Dark Souls III and more. And that isn't even counting likely Q1 releases like Adr1ft, Doom, Star Fox Zero, and Ratchet & Clank. Basically a ton more games than any normal person can afford.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for all future news and footage of Far Cry Primal and the 4.8 quintillion other games coming out in the near future. It's a great time to be a gamer!

Far Cry Primal Accidentally Announced https://www.gameskinny.com/a9y2q/far-cry-primal-accidentally-announced https://www.gameskinny.com/a9y2q/far-cry-primal-accidentally-announced Mon, 05 Oct 2015 20:44:50 -0400 Curtis Dillon

IGN Turkey's Twitter account has accidentally revealed the new Far Cry game, entitled Far Cry Primal.

Ubisoft have been teasing an announcement on its YouTube channel today with a live stream of a cave painting (which over 11,000 people were watching) but the IGN Turkey Twitter account revealed it to be an Ice Age Far Cry game. The Twitter account has since been suspended, hence why we cannot embed the tweet in this article. However you can check out the above image that was revealed in the tweet, as well as the live cave painting video below!

If you watched some of the stream you probably noticed cavemen fighting Wooly Mammoths and sabre tooth tigers, skinning Elk, performing rituals and more. No word yet on what mammals, or dinosaurs, may feature in the game. On a personal note, I can't help but wonder how exactly this game will work with weapons and modes of transport, I mean, yes there are weapons but what about upgrades? And what modes of transport could there possible be. It will be really interesting to see the full reveal.

It seems that, for now at least, this is being taken as a spin-off game in the series, which would make it the first of its kind. Of course Ubisoft did release the very well-received Far Cry 3 DLC Blood Dragon and that seemed to give them leeway with the series and the option to do more outlandish things. I do find the timing of this announcement a little odd, considering Ubisoft has Assassin's Creed Syndicate coming in less than 3 weeks, then Rainbow Six Siege in December.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for the inevitable official reveal of Far Cry Primal and hopefully more details very soon.
