On a day like today, with a fake Grand Theft Auto TV show being announced and all sorts of other stuff that has forced me to stay off social media for the next 24 hours, it's refreshing to see the cats over at Playtonic Games having a little fun. Instead of an awful prank, they have instead given us a wonderful throw back to the Donkey Kong Rap of yesteryear in the form of the new Yooka-Laylee Rap.

If you listen closely to both, you'll notice the Yooka-Laylee Rap shares the identical rhythm of the Donkey Kong Rap -- and notably, it shares the same aesthetics, rhyme flow, and beat as well. Both go into detail about who's on the cover of the box and why they matter, like most rap songs do.

On top of that, both rap tracks also go into detail about specific character's and their different abilities.

Developed by Playtonic Games, which is made up of many of the same creative minds that brought Donkey Kong and Banjo-Kazooie to life in the 1990s, Yooka-Laylee is set to release on April 11. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for news, guides, and updates on Playtonic's newest platform.

John Cena Selected to Curate WWE 2K15 Soundtrack https://www.gameskinny.com/byb71/john-cena-selected-to-curate-wwe-2k15-soundtrack https://www.gameskinny.com/byb71/john-cena-selected-to-curate-wwe-2k15-soundtrack Mon, 13 Oct 2014 19:09:28 -0400 Chris_Lemus

Following the steps of what 2K Games did with their NBA video game soundtracks, WWE 2K15 will feature a curation of music by a known celebrity.

This time, the game will stay true to wrestling and use 15-time world champion John Cena, who will be selecting from a range of genres.

"Reaching across many genres of music to some of my friends and those who have worked with WWE, I truly believe that gamers will become avid listeners of these songs," Cena said.

A collection of 12 songs were picked by the wrestler, who grew up training with rock music at Hard Nocks gym in Massachusetts and eventually created a platinum-selling rap album titled “You Can’t See Me” in 2005.

Some of the artists Cena selected for the game include Avenged Sevenfold, Rise Against, and Florida Georgia Line. Those artists will not be featured on the companion soundtrack, which also features music from the game by musical acts like Flo Rida, Knife Party, and Royal Blood.

In addition to the music Cena selected, he will also include two new songs he created with grammy nominated rapper Wiz Khalifa called “All Day” and “Breaks” on the companion soundtrack.

“It was very cool to work with Wiz Khalifa and combine my East Coast style of flow and his laid back West Coast vibe,” Cena wrote in an email to Billboard. “Wiz and I are both are so dedicated to our craft that we never stop hustling to give our fans more, that is what the song (‘All Day’) is about.“

WWE 2K15 will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Oct. 28. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version will be released on Nov. 18, with the Microsoft Windows release following on No. 21. The companion soundtrack will be released Oct. 21 on iTunes.

Pharrell Williams is Putting Together the NBA 2k15 Soundtrack https://www.gameskinny.com/uykv8/pharrell-williams-is-putting-together-the-nba-2k15-soundtrack https://www.gameskinny.com/uykv8/pharrell-williams-is-putting-together-the-nba-2k15-soundtrack Wed, 16 Jul 2014 06:25:59 -0400 Chris_Lemus

The announcement of 2K Sport’s NBA 2k15 cover on Tuesday was also bundled with a surprise selection for the game’s music curation.

Seven-time Grammy winner Pharrell Williams, best known for his international chart-topping hit “Happy,” will be the first non-NBA affiliated person to curate the video game.

Previous curators include rapper and former co-owner of the Brooklyn Nets Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Cleveland Cavaliers player Lebron James.

To help Williams select the music, he turned to a unique demographic.

"There are girls that play the game and there's a lot of girls that are around it … so I thought it'd be such an interesting twist to have the girls weigh in on the song list, because they listen to it just as much," Williams explained to Billboard. "I tried to pick an alternative approach, because how do you follow up LeBron (James) and Jay (Jay-Z)? I gotta take a different route.

"When we finished looking at the list, it felt right.”

It is currently unknown what songs he will be selecting, but he is no stranger to producing popular songs. According to The Guardian, he co-produced 20 percent of the songs played on British radio in 2004. It is possible that fans of the game could hear a familiar tune or two by Williams.

He also has a wide range of music to chose from based on his experience working with a wide range of genres. While Williams has predominantly produced for hip-hop and pop artists, he has also worked with The Hives, No Doubt, and dancehall DJs Major Lazer.

The Williams has a unique connection to the NBA 2K series. Featured on the cover of his band N.E.R.D.’s 2001 “In Search Of…” album cover is fellow band member Shay Hayley playing a video game. While the television screen is not visible, Williams revealed that the game was an early NBA 2K game.

This will not be Williams’ first venture outside of music. He has helped design clothes, jewelry, furniture, and even an upcoming unisex fragrance.

NBA 2k15 will be released Oct 7 for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Fan Makes Kanye West-Inspired RPG Kanye Quest 3030 https://www.gameskinny.com/pd809/fan-makes-kanye-west-inspired-rpg-kanye-quest-3030 https://www.gameskinny.com/pd809/fan-makes-kanye-west-inspired-rpg-kanye-quest-3030 Wed, 24 Jul 2013 13:01:37 -0400 Aneudys Tejeda

Kanye West 3030 is the browser game nobody has been asking for!

This news is just to good to pass up. As a fan of Kanye West (with the exception of his latest album) this is the funniest news I've heard come out in the world of Kanye since his baby name, North West. Kanye is a controversial rapper in the world of hip-hop. He's rude, obnoxious, and thinks he is essentially God. Literally, he made a song about it.

Now thank to RPGMaker.net member Phenix he has his own game. The Kanye West-inspired RPG game entitled Kanye Quest 3030 is an 8-bit game with digital Kanye West being transported through a wormhole to the year 3030 according to the official synopsis found on the game’s official Tumblr website.

Check out the trailer for the game, which includes clones of Eminem, 2pac, Lil B and more below:

The game is only playable on Windows and is downloadable here. Creator Phenix left a polite message for players who download the game.

All characters appearing in this work are based on fact. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is completely intentional.
