Square Enix just announced today that fans of NieR: Automata will have more content to experience with a new piece of DLC that is coming soon. It will include extra striking costumes, brand new challenges in the Colosseum, bosses, and mor.

The tongue twister that is "3C3C1D119440927" will be taking costumes from the Japanese release, NieR: Replicant, and giving players across the pond the chance to try them out for themselves. Androids 2B, 9S, and A2 will be receiving a makeover -- along with hairspray, various equipment, and other accessories for A2 and 2B's hair.

Sticking with the cosmetic theme, new masks will also be available, all with special effects that are revealed as they are equipped.

All players who own the DLC will be given access to records that will add a bevvy of special tracks to their jukebox. Unique bullets that in turn transform the appearance of enemy bullets will also make an appearance.

There's no word on the DLC's price or release date in the West. All we know for now is that it's releasing on May 2 in Japan for 1,500 yen -- so we'll have to stand by for official word from Square Enix before anything is confirmed.

Pictures can never do a costume true justice, so Square Enix was kind enough to provide some meaty gameplay videos that show off the new costumes, as well as the tantalizing boss battles:

NieR: Automata has been received very well by the public, so new content is something that many fans will be pleased to see.

Rocket League Volleyball-like Mode "Dropshot" Coming Soon, Competitive Season 4 Starts Mon, 13 Mar 2017 11:05:39 -0400 Pierre Fouquet

Arriving on March 22nd, "Dropshot" is Rocket League's latest update. In standard fashion, Rocket League is taking its own spin on well known sports, and now it's turning attention to volleyball.

Unlike the real sport, in "Dropshot" you have get the ball to hit the ground on the opposing side. The floor will then fall away in hexagon shaped tiles and getting the ball into the hole will score you points.

While Rocket League was very focused on sports where the ball rolls (or skids in the case of hockey) along the floor, volleyball is all about aerial prowess. It's about keeping the ball in the air and smashing it down to win the game. As such, players will need to ensure their aerial game is on point.

To allow for this new style of gameplay, a new arena has been built. Called "Core 707" this arena is split into two halves with each one representing one of Rocket Leagues two teams -- red and blue.

Along with the new mode, "Dropshot" marks the start of Season 4 for Rocket League ranked matches.

"Dropshot" is playable in its own playlist, or through the Private and Exhibition modes. It's due out on March 22, for all platforms.

6 Dinosaurs We Want to See in ARK: Survival Evolved Fri, 17 Feb 2017 08:00:01 -0500 Emily Parker

You've got a great smile Estemmenosuchus!

ARK: Survival Evolved picked a great setting for a survival game. There is plenty of content to pick from for when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and as the game continues to grow, we hope to see plenty more dinos added to it.

Do you have any dinosaurs you wish were in the game? Are there mods out there covering these already? What is the best dinosaur?!

Regaliceratops AKA "Hellboy"

This recently discovered herbivore bears a striking resemblance to the Triceratops (or the in game Trike), but is set apart by its frill and horns.

The frill is more rounded and "crown like," and it has two comically small horns above its eyes. Just like our friend Hellboy.

It doesn't seem like a dinosaur would be able to glide with membranes around its back legs, but this little guy made it work.

Many studies and have been conducted and replicas made of the Sharovipteryx to determine how it stayed airborne. Using the results have helped us understand our own flying machines. Nature is weird.

Tanystropheus has the longest neck physically possible for an animal that lives on land. This helped it hunt for fish in shallow water, where it spent most of its time -- and a great place to have them spawn in Ark

The skeleton of its neck was very stiff, to help support all that weight, making this a very comical dinosaur indeed. The Tanystropheus would be an ideal addition to your dinosaur gang.

Palaeontologists are currently arguing whether this obscure creature was a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore. It had some of the most impressive head ornamentation of any dinosaur and was about the size of a moose.

This dinosaur would sure make a statement whether as pet or mount in ARK. (That smile is to die for.)

Not only does this carnivore have a really cool name, but its defining feature is a tiny horn right in the middle of its head.

Out of all of the giant two-legged carnivores, the Rajasaurus is unique. Most Dinosaurs lost their ornamentation as they evolved into more efficient predators, but the Rajasaurus continued to evolve its head ornament.

This is by far the most awesome dinosaur that I wish Ark would include. It is also the most likely to be added, as there are several fan dossiers for the beast already.

These terrifying dinos actually evolved from around the size of a dog, to the size of a rhinoceros. They had huge fangs and sharp claws, and would make a wonderful addition to your ARK mount garage.

ARK: Survival Evolved has done a pretty great job of including some of the most awesome dinosaurs to have ever existed, but one of the great things about dinosaurs is that there are just a whole bunch of them.

Before they continue off into the land of dragons and mammals, let's take a look at some dinos that would still love to be in the game.

Hitman Has Confirmed New Season: With Additional Episodes and Game Content Sat, 05 Nov 2016 01:16:26 -0400 Nam T. Bui

The 2016 version of IO Interactive's stealth action game, Hitman, is having an all-new 2nd season. Confirmed by Hakan Abrak, executive director of the project at IO Interactive, during an interview in Paris Game Week 2016.

According to Mr. Abrak, Hitman will continue after the release of last episode, that takes place in Hokkaido, with additional content formed as Season 2.  New locations and missions will be added to the base game, while using the same launcher from original version.

However, the Season 1 maps can still receive new free content like Elusive Targets and Escalation Missions. Players will also be able to bring their previous unlocks to use in upcoming season and onwards. Moreover, locations that were previously completed, will be revisited with a new location/mission available -- hinting that unlocks in Season 2 will be able to be brought into any Season 1 locale.

Hitman (2016) is the first entry in the series to implement an episodic distribution model, with 6 episodes released nearly every month -- from March 2016 to October of the same year (except June and July). Every episode in the game features a sandbox-like map which allows players to explore, assassinate, and complete the missions as they choose. Players still take control of Agent 47, an assassin and iconic character of the series, travelling to international locations and eliminating contracted targets. The game's story takes place 7 years after events of the previous entry, Hitman: Absolution.

Surprise WoW Legion features casual players should be excited about Mon, 08 Aug 2016 05:24:51 -0400 Sean Handler

In less than a few weeks, the new expansion for World of Warcraft will be released along with a plethora of new features. Much of the game will be changing, and new and returning players alike are probably not aware of some of the more exciting updates this expansion brings. Here's a list of some of the most exciting things coming to Azeroth on August 30th.

Transmogrifications (often referred to as "transmogs" by players) have been around since the "Mists of Pandaria" expansion and allow players to change the appearance of their various pieces of equipment. In the Legion expansion, this gets an overhaul to an account-wide system that will allow players to save the appearance of an item and keep or discard it as they choose.

A visual appearance of the Wardrobe system seen in the Legion expansion Alpha

Players will be able to collect a variety of these item appearances and save them as favorite outfits without having to sacrifice precious bag space. This change will make the system similar to that of Diablo III.

Artifact weapons are now able to be added to other weapon appearances as well, however other weapons cannot be transmogged to the Artifact weapon's appearance.

This change is also being given a new name, "Wardrobe". There are some restrictions to this system. After digging through the official WoW forums where discussion on the Wardrobe are taking place, you can see there are some qualifications your armor must meet to qualify for transmogrification.

  • You must be able to equip the armor that you are transmogging
  • The armor must be of your primary armor type
  • The armor/weapon you are transmogging must be equippable by your character's class.

Let's say you were playing as a Mage and wanted to use the Wardrobe system to change your appearance. Even though both Mage and Warlock wear Cloth Armor, Mages would not be able to use any Warlock specific sets. However, you can still use the system on any Mage-class armor that you have saved to your Wardrobe.

Class Changes

All of the familiar WoW classes are also getting significant changes in the Legion expansion. However, for new players to the game, Hunter can be a popular choice to start with. Changes to the Hunter class include new Mechanical pets and significant changes to the Survival and Beast Mastery subclasses. Traps are being removed from the Beast Mastery class and will only be available to Survival class hunters. Survival is also being focused into a melee-style class, emphasizing the use of traps to keep enemies at bay.

Mechanical pets like the above pictured Alarm-O-Bot can now be tamed by Gnomes, the newest race to gain access to the Hunter class. Prepare for a fleet of miniature Hunters roaming Azeroth in search of these robotic beasts soon. Goblins who choose the Hunter class will also be able to tame these creatures as well.

Another class that works great for casual players is the Druid. Druids are a versatile class with a total of four subclasses (Feral, Balance, Restoration, and Guardian) to pick from. The major changes coming to Druids are specific to each subclass, but in general all Druids will now have an "Affinity" talent row that will provide a passive ability useful at all times and access to key abilities for their secondary shapeshifting choices.

All classes in the Legion expansion will also be receiving some visual updates, primarily those with melee abilities, although all classes will benefit from more detailed visuals and new animations.

Artifact Weapons

A brand new type of weapon is arriving with the Legion expansion; "Artifacts", they are rare weapons with incredible powers and high stats that will make even the most powerful heroes able to stand toe-to-toe with the most difficult of foes. These are the ultimate weapons in Azeroth, available only to seasoned warriors according to lore. These unique weapons will scale as you do, and each class specialization gets a unique weapon.

Artifact weapons are also upgradeable, so you can change them in a myriad of ways. These weapons are obtainable early on in the expansion, and to level them up you need a special type of currency known as "Artifact Power". You gain this resource by leveling up, taking on arenas, boss raids, and more. This power is used to unlock a variety of weapon traits that will become available as you progress.

As you unlock new traits for your Artifact weapon, you can also choose the order in which they are unlocked. This furthers the customization options for these powerful weapons even more. There will also be a new item specific to these Artifacts called "Relics", which can be slotted into artifacts to unlock new abilities or strengthen secondary stats.

What game would be complete without achievements to unlock? Legion is bringing a ton of them to the table, and they cover a wide variety of topics. Casual players will likely take interest in the ones involving exploration such as Explore Suramar, achieved after revealing the covered areas of Suramar's map. Achievements that focus on appearance will also be fun to collect. There are achievements that also cover certain boss raids as well as crafting, finding certain items for characters, and many more.

Including the most recent additions, there will now be over 2,000 unique Achievements in the game, giving accolade hunters plenty to do.

Demon Hunters: The new class in Azeroth

The biggest feature being introduced in Legion has already been revealed, but for new players, or spoiler avoiders, the new class being added is Demon Hunter.

Unlike most of WoW's classes that are open to nearly all of the available races, Demon Hunters are restricted to Night Elves and Blood Elves. Demon Hunters have two subclasses, Havoc which focuses on damage, and Vengeance which is their tanking subclass.

As with all classes, Demon Hunters have a variety of customization options including different horns, blindfolds, and more. The above image shows some of the many options that will be available. For those who have pre-purchased Legion, you'll have access to the Demon Hunter class on August 9th. If you did not pre-order Legion, you will have to wait until August 30th when the expansion drops to enjoy the new class.

With all of these new features coming to World of Warcraft, many new players will have a lot to choose from. What are you most excited for when Legion drops? Let me know in the comments!

Runefest 2016 Plans to Set Sail to the New Eastern Isle Tue, 26 Jul 2016 07:20:44 -0400 ESpalding

Attendees at this year's RuneFest convention, the official convention for the iconic MMORPG RuneScape, will be treated to new content and information for the all-new in-game destination -- The Eastern Isle. This new content is due to be released in the month following the September convention date, and features new Polynesian-inspired landscapes, creatures, and lore.

To whet fans' appetites, the pre-expansion content has already been released and is titled "The Arc". It includes new areas called Whale's Maw, Waiko, and Aminishi islands. The interesting thing about this new continent is that the inhabitants have never heard of you or your previous escapades, so you have to start from scratch with reputation and wealth.

In addition to the information about The Eastern Isle, those attending the convention will get to hear the latest news regarding RuneScape, Old School RuneScape, and Chronicle: RuneScape Legends -- all while getting to have fun with the usual convention activities such as cosplay, Q & A, meet and greets, and an after-party.

Tickets are still available for the event which takes place on September 17th at Battersea Evolution in London.

SNOW now with snowboards and snowmobiles! Sun, 29 May 2016 09:45:16 -0400 Engela Snyman

The upcoming Winter Sport game SNOW developed by Poppermost - has promised to add snowboarding and snowmobiling to their wintry game. Both of these features have been added by popular demand.

Announced on the 24th of May 2016, this is one cold step closer to the company's main goal: to make the most fun and realistic winter sports game on the market. The game boasts a wide range of gear you can customize, and pretty realistic winter sport game-play.

The new snowboarding has been designed to offer a different experience from the current in-game sport, skiing. The two styles have been studied in depth to give the player the most realistic experience possible, and to ensure both sports offer completely different play styles. Whether this is true or not is for the masses to decide, but we can't deny that it looks pretty damn cool.

As for the snowmobiles they "bring a new dimension to the game", according to Poppermost, and will help players get to their favorite skiing spots more easily. They will be readily available all over the world, and can quickly climb the steep mountains in search for the perfect jump-spot. Or you can just take a drive on the country roads for some relaxation.

Will there be snowmobile races? We can only hope.

As of late SNOW seems to be quite popular. It's currently free to play and in open beta so anyone can take a dive down the white slopes if they so choose. Poppermost prides itself on its level of authenticity, and detail, as Alexander Bergandhi, CEO at Poppermost puts it:

"We’ve put tremendous care and energy into capturing the very unique ways in which these sports feel in order to deliver that same level of enjoyable authenticity our community has come to expect from the game."

With how well the game is being received, it should hopefully all go downhill from here - in a good winter sports way.

Put the Pedal to the Metal with New Double Kick Heroes Content Thu, 26 May 2016 06:01:22 -0400 Melissa Crawford

Good news for fans of the wild metal zombie-slaying rhythm game, Double Kick Heroes! We gave you details of the pre-release two months ago, and now the game is undergoing further development to make your band's adventure more bloody and unpredictable, with even more changes and extra content.

New highlights to gameplay include a world map, explored over a series of chapters from America to Transylvania, and a garage, where you can interact with the band members, receive missions, and unlock items.

In response to player feedback that zombies were overused, Double Kick Heroes will now feature different monsters for each chapter. For instance, in the wastelands of California, you can now fight zombie sharks.

Less significant, although still impactful to gameplay, other additions include new effects such as fog and blood trails.

And if this isn't enough to satiate you, more chapters are assured for upcoming months, sure to deliver even more rhythmical mayhem.

New Hearthstone Hero Available Only in WoW Tue, 15 Mar 2016 09:37:14 -0400 cadiencie

World of Warcraft players can unlock a new Hearthstone champion by achieving level 20 on a new character, Blizzard announced yesterday in a post on their blog.

The champion is Lady Liadrin, a Paladin whose hero ability is the same as Uther's: for two mana, you may summon a 1/1 Silver Hand Recruit.

The best news, however, is that while you will need to log in and play World of Warcraft to earn her, you do not have to pay any additional money -- even if you don't currently own or subscribe to WoW because it is free to play until level 20. According to the announcement:

"No World of Warcraft subscription is necessary to earn this hero and bring the power of the Light to bear in Hearthstone—simply log in to your existing World of Warcraft account and play."

Current WoW players will have to grind a new character to earn the "Fledgling Hero of Warcraft" achievement, because it will not be rewarded retroactively to characters that surpassed level 20 prior to 11 a.m. PST on March 11.

Lady Liadrin was included in Hearthstone patch 4.2.0, which was released March 14 in preparation for the new Hearthstone expansion, "Whispers of the Old Gods." Full patch notes are available here

This cross-promotion is probably an attempt to increase subscriber numbers as we head toward the anticipated 2016 release of World of Warcraft: Legion.  An exact date has not been announced.

Players new to WoW who would like to unlock this hero may want to check out these leveling guides:

Happy grinding!

Sword Coast Legends sneak peek: Community Pack Two Thu, 03 Dec 2015 10:09:26 -0500 John Adamczyk

Sword Coast Legends had a solid start with its first community pack, the first of four updates to the game meant to overhaul the quality and respond to player feedback.

The release date for the second community pack seems to have been bumped back a bit, which means we probably won't be seeing the third pack or Rage of Demons update anytime soon, but the company has been trying to stay on top of player communication, and as such, has decided to at least preview the patch contents before they drop.

Highlights include:

New Playable Race: The Drow

The highlight of this community pack is, unfortunately, something to shrug your shoulders at. New races add something to aesthetic and character choice, but they hardly make up for much-needed gameplay overhauls. The drow are an iconic Dungeons and Dragons race, however, and it makes sense that they've been added in.

Fortunately, there's another addition in this community pack that might refine the gameplay significantly.

Death Improvements and Hardcore Mode

In my own review of Sword Coast Legends, I made it very clear that the pause-based mechanics of the game take a backseat to the Diablo style gameplay that overshadows the need to do any actual planning, replaced instead with potion chugging and button mashing. This is made even worse by the fact that the "stabilize" mechanic is an impossible to interrupt action that lets you bring unconscious characters back to life in seconds.

Fortunately, it seems there might be a need to revisit the main campaign, because the company actually paid attention to this complaint. In a surprising twist, n-Space has made the game more difficult, as stabilizing will not only take longer to perform, but the character trying to carry out the action will actually fail if damage is dealt during that time.

To make the game even more intense, there's going to be a "hardcore" mode that will allow players to disable the stabilize action during combat, meaning each fight will force you to actually consider the consequences of characters falling unconscious.

Loot Changes

Another shrug-worthy option but a welcome quality of life upgrade for players who have enjoyed the online component to the game. Players can now enable an alternative loot system that individualizes item drops, rather than having the traditional click-spam every-man-for-himself loot grabbing that follows the death of an enemy.

New Additions to the Campaign Creator and Dungeon Master Mode

Again, not too exciting given the limitations of the map editing system, but with a promised tile-based level editor coming in community pack 3, these minor additions to the system will be a huge plus later on.

These additions include:

  • New placeable objects and visual effects.
  • A variety of preset village locations are now available for Dungeon Masters to use.
  • Ambient NPC text can be placed on characters for added flavor.
  • Locations can now be locked and unlocked within multiplayer games by the Dungeon Master, allowing for more interactive storytelling.
Tile Customization

A sort of precursor to the actual map editor, this will let Dungeon Masters fiddle with the pre-generated areas that they have to choose from. They can create entrances and exits, delete existing structures and areas, and generally try to make the pre-designed zones into something of their own.

Of course, this is no real replacement for the incoming, much-needed map editor, but it is a start, and it will allow people who are new to the system to have a bit more freedom to create what they want.

Bug Fixes

No surprise here.

In the end, the most exciting change on this list is undoubtedly the overhaul to the stabilize mechanic. The fact that characters falling unconscious will no longer be trivialized will at least give players a reason to consider utilizing the pause-based mechanics while at the same time demanding the implementation of strategy for the sake of survival.

Hopefully, this update mitigates the Diablo-style combat and pushes it into the realm of the traditional RPG.

With another community update to go, along with the inevitable Rage of Demons expansion, n-Space is doing a great deal to win over the community.

New Boss and more coming to Killing Floor 2 soon Fri, 27 Nov 2015 12:11:05 -0500 Dennis Adame

If you are one of the people who is upset about the microtransactions that are coming to Killing Floor 2, Tripwire Interactive has something that might make you feel better. Coming this December, players of Killing Floor 2 will have an update to look forward to that will add a bunch of new and exciting content to the game.

The update will be called “The Return of the Patriarch Content Pack”. This free content pack that will feature some exciting things. It will include two new maps, one new perk set, six new weapons, one new playable character named Disten Jaegerhorn (unlocked by subscribing to the official KF2 group of Steam), the zed-conomy and the trading floor store (microtransactions), the return of the “The Patriarch” boss, and other features that have yet to be released.

In a recent PC Gamer interview, Alan Wilson, Vice President of Tripwire Interactive, said this about the new boss:

“Once he’s taken a bit of damage, so long as he can get away, he’ll disappear, stab himself with a healing syringe in a quiet corner, and cover his retreat by throwing a bunch of lower-level monsters at you.”

This new feature will make The Patriarch that much harder to kill, and fighting him will be like a game of cat and mouse. You will have to chase down the boss to stop him from healing himself, and at the same time kill the hordes of enemies he is spawning behind him as he runs. The Patriarch will be just like the boss from the first game, but will be larger and look a lot more mutated. He will still have a giant Gatling gun for one hand and a giant “Deathclaw” like hand for the other.

The two new maps that will be coming to Killing Floor 2 are called The Black Forest and Farmhouse. The Black Forest will be a wooded map with little streams running throughout.  The map will also feature a set of railroad tracks and a cabin -- both will help break up the woods and to act as spawn points for enemies. The second map, Farmhouse, will contain -- yep, you guessed it -- a farmhouse. The map will also have crop fields for enemies to come from (like Children of the Corn), a barn, and a hayloft. It sounds like it may be similar to the farm map that was in Killing Floor 1.

With the addition of the Patriarch, Killing Floor 2 now has two bosses, Hans and the Patriarch. Now you may be asking yourself: “How do I know which boss I will fight on each map?" Well that’s the cool thing -- you won’t. Each map will have a 50/50 chance of either boss spawning, so you and your team need to be ready for anything.

New and interesting Rocket League maps to come! Sat, 08 Aug 2015 04:26:44 -0400 Andrea Koenig

Rocket League is one of the most popular games today, and as we speak it's continuing to rise through the ranks. Those who are unfamiliar with the game can pick up the concept easily enough: cars race around arena maps to score goals on the opposing team. It's soccer with cars. Now with the base game capturing the interests of so many gamers, Psyonix announced their intention to introduce additional, more interesting map levels.

For those who have already played Rocket League and have experienced the controls, they can attest that the gameplay is simple enough in concept. But it's always the games with the simplest controls that require you to form a special technique to master the game. Now, with many gamers climbing up through the ranking system as they find their own techniques, the game's developers want to make things a little more interesting to keep things enjoyable. Psyonix had this to say:

"We know the majority of players aren’t super competitive, they just want to have a good time—and we have a great time with the crazy different maps and so on. So we already have some of those in production to roll out later on."

We can't say for sure when or how often these maps will be introduced to the game, or what spice they'll add to the mix, but we do know that they will be free - apart from the Utopia map to come with Rocket League's first paid DLC package in the next few weeks. The developers never anticipated such a grand, positive response , and they wish to satisfy the fans who have supported them. Future maps may also be created and released based on fan response.

Curl Up in Front of the Fire with Red Bull Racers This Winter Fri, 28 Nov 2014 08:03:08 -0500 Game Oracle

Red Bull Media and Bongfish recently released new content for their popular and free-to-play arcade-style racing game, Red Bull Racers. This update includes three new racing machines designed to run fast in the snow and on ice, along with seven new winter tracks and 36 challenges you haven't completed yet.

Players coming back to the game will also find the developers have tweaked the multiplayer mode. Gamers can now challenge other racers directly through career mode, which adds to the challenge and fun.

The developers claim the driving physics built into this new content will require gamers to use their winter driving skills if they want to succeed on the track. In order to beat their competition, gamers need to drift and jump their way across extremely challenging snowy and icy terrain.

I haven't played this video game, but weather forecasters are predicting a snowy and cold winter this year. Curling up next to the fire and playing Red Bull Racers seems a warmer and more entertaining choice. You can even play on summer courses in warmer locations and dream of the summer ahead.

League of Legends Releases New Arena Mode Ascension for a Limited Time Fri, 12 Sep 2014 14:34:13 -0400 Jessa Rittenhouse

The developers at Riot are shaking things up a bit for League of Legends players, introducing a new arena mode called Ascension - but it's only for a limited time.

Ascension mode pits two teams against one another, battling to claim the Ascension buff by defeating Ancient Ascendant Xerath. Because the sands of Shurima have moved the Crystal Scar, making it impossible to traverse the outer circle of the map, players must use the Golden Transcendence trinket to teleport them to the battle.

Ascended Xerath holds the key to great power - if you can defeat him.

At the center of the map lies Ascended Xerath - a Baron-like boss that players may slay in order to attain the Ascension buff, which awards them double points for every champion kill - making it easier to attain the 200 points necessary for a victory. In addition, the Ascension buff provides the champion with:

  • Attack Damage and Ability Power
  • Cooldown Reduction
  • Bonus Health
  • Infinite Mana
  • Armor Penetration and Magic Penetration

What this means for players is that the typical strategy aspect of League of Legends is downplayed in favor of a more skill-based match that depends heavily on individual player ability with their champion. In short, Ascension is a death-match mode that pits champions against one another without the aid of towers or minion waves. Victories in this mode grant players access to rewards like the exclusive Shurima icons.

Ascension appears to be a promotional effort on the part of Riot both to exemplify the new narrative direction they're taking with the game and as a teaser for their upcoming new champion, Azir, The Emperor of the Sands.

This new gameplay mode will be available from September 10 - 21.

Sorry! Ubisoft Apologizes for Mario Kart 8 Tweet Sun, 24 Aug 2014 18:31:33 -0400 Chris_Lemus

Mario Kart 8 made news when Nintendo announced a Mercedes Benz DLC earlier this month, and now developer Ubisoft is apologizing after expressing it’s opinion directly to the makers of Mario’s racing game on Twitter.

The tweet was eventually taken down and replaced with an apology.

“Sorry about that,” their tweet reads. “The expression does not in any way represent those of Ubisoft. It’s been deleted."

It is currently unknown if Ubisoft’s Twitter was compromised in any way.

The tweet was referring to the Mercedez-Benz vehicles included for players to race in who have the DLC. Those vehicles include a W25 Silver Arrow kart, the GLA kart and the 300 SL Roadster. Unlike the comical go-karts typically included in the series, these vehicles are grey and appear as realistic replicas.

The tweet follows a week of news connecting Ubisoft to Nintendo. Despite Ubisoft Europe’s director Alain Corre going on the record predicting Super Smash Bros. for Wii U could become a popular title during the holiday season, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said his company would not release any more mature rated games on Nintendo’s Wii U console. Guillemot sites a lack of sales from mature rested titles such as Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs when created for Nintendo consoles.

The tanks in this update include American Destroyer class tanks that offer great speed, guns, and weapon penetration.  These tanks are the M8A1, T49, M18 Hellcat, T25/2, T28 Prototype, T30 and the T110E4.

Also included earlier this week were five premium Soviet tanks that you can now outfit and upgrade to your liking: Valentine II, Matilda IV, IS-6, SU-122-44 and the Churchill III.

Added to the World of Tanks map selection is Fisherman's Bay, where you will take advantage of ambush opportunities with sloping hills covered in brush, along with irregular landscapes and open areas.

The second map included is Abbey.  Explore a town with three roads leading to a centrally located abbey and battle it out in the courtyard.

World of Tanks 360 Edition is a free to play game on Xbox Live, so if you want to roll around in a steel death-dealing machine, log on and have some fun.

The PC version is also available as a free to play game--if you are interested in learning more, visit their website

RIFT 2.6: Dream Weaver is Live Fri, 14 Feb 2014 21:45:49 -0500 Mary Yeager

Trion Worlds is one step closer to 3.0 with the release of version 2.6 entitled Dream Weaver. Developers included lots of new features and quite a few bug fixes. New content includes a storyline, a new trade skill, and new artifacts.

From Water To Air

The new storyline is a prelude to the air saga storyline. Instead of going forward in time, the new multi-phase line will allow players to relive past stories up to the Exodus of the Storm Queen. The entire saga will progress in releases over weeks so the content will be fairly consistent. With this storyline arc, earn new titles, pets, and armor pieces.

Dream Weaver

Crafters will find that there is a new trade skill in the update. Crafters will be able to create 15 new Dimensions (RIFT's version of housing) as well as new visual effects. Some of the new effects include:

  • Waterfalls
  • Sparklies
  • Smoke
  • Weather-blockers
  • And more.
Artifacts, Rewards, and More

Added to the game are new artifacts. These artifacts will add new achievements that will grant titles like Bounty Hunter. Completion of new artifact sets include animal calls, cloaks, and vendors selling new potions. A new mount has also been added which are Planar Squirrels.

Bored with how your pet looks? They have added alternative pet skins to the RIFT store. How to unlock these new pet skins are under the character sheet in the pet tab as well as the RIFT store.

Bug Fixes

Ever run into the issue of using mouse look and it suddenly is staring directly to the sky or down into the ground? This bug, which has existed since before launch, has finally been fixed. Patch notes called it an "ancient bug that was older than the game itself."

Other important fixes to note are:

  • Stealth players in raids are now viewable by the other raid members.
  • Tradeskill extensions can now be purchased from trainers again.
  • Integration with Facebook is working.
  • No more long loading times associated with being resurrected by another player.
  • RIFT store includes a new Black loyalty tier with new rewards.
  • Alternate payment methods through Allopass and Rixty are available for use in purchasing credits.

The patch notes for 2.6 also include quite a few soul fixes and other bug fixes that aren't listed here.

A Hint of What's to Come

Trion Worlds has a lot planned for the prelude to 3.0. Players can look forward to the Love Bug, new raid rifts, and a carnival. It will be interesting to see what all new content Trion Worlds has in store for Telarans.

CABAL Online Europe Updates Content Wed, 12 Feb 2014 07:53:58 -0500 Game Oracle

Veteran CABAL Online Europe players anticipating the release of Return of the Guardians can finally take a look at the latest content update. The developers have thoughtfully released the update in six different European languages, so you can play in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Turkish and English. If everything goes as planned, the update will go live tomorrow.

Gamers new to CABAL Online Europe can play this popular MMORPG here. Downloading the game takes a few minutes, compared to some I have played in the past. Make sure to read all the information, news, and updates for the game. The game community is lively and the chatting fun on the forum.

CABAL Online is well designed and it’s easy for new gamers to learn the game interface and other facets of playing the game. It took me about three hours playing free online video games to understand the tricks, traps and puzzles enough to begin having a great time.

The battle/skill system used for this online video game is fast and easy to master, but veteran gamers could find it a little simple. Quests are relatively easy to find and complete and rewards are ample. If you love new adventures in unknown lands? Check out CABAL Online. You can play in a different language and make new friends.

Guild Wars 2 Announces The Nightmare Within Thu, 07 Nov 2013 02:55:53 -0500 EmilyOrange

Players have focused on a Toxic Alliance in the Kessex Hill area of Guild Wars 2, recently. An evil tower has been raised in that zone by Scarlet's great magic, some slimy snake-like Krait, and corrupted plant-people.

On November 12th, players will literally storm that castle.

The update will focus on attacking the Toxic Alliance’s inner sanctum. Players had been theorizing whether this epic battle would be instanced or open-world. Typically, living story boss battles in Guild Wars 2 have been instanced, personalized zones, but the developers are trying to move away from that and towards more and more big champion bosses in the living world.

So, in this particular patch, the tower is open world content, but there will be small instances within it. That doesn't really solve the debate. What parts are instances? Why? What's the future of this type of content? I like the open world zones because I like zerging, but some others would prefer to go it alone. Everyone deserves to know what the new content will hold.

There will be stylish outfits, armor skins, collectibles, and chests full of prizes, but these special treasures won't be powerful or game breaking. They will be standard cosmetic items and buffs that avid players will acknowledge as normal slightly-new rewards.

During the time before release, ArenaNet is hosting a "Rock the Nightmare" music video contest where players can edit video to go with the new patch's soundtrack. The prizes are some very cool headphones, a keyboard, and a guitar; so if you have the skills, it really might be worth entering the contest before you fight the undead.
