The Legend of Zelda for Wii U is probably one of the most anticipated games of 2017. Everyone will be able to tune in to the E3 2016 livestream at 9 am PT to see gameplay. However, there was an opportunity for some to play the game for themselves earlier today.

Nintendo of America tweeted yesterday that today, June 11th, the first 500 people at Nintendo New York City would be able to play the game. In order to secure a spot, fans had to head to Nintendo New York City to receive a wristband. Only the first 500 in line by the time the store opened at 9 am received a wristband. This guaranteed that they could play The Legend of Zelda for Wii U between 6/14 – 6/19.

Those who received a wristband will receive a ticket with a designated date and time to play at the store. After that, all they have to do is go the store at their designated time to play the latest Legend of Zelda game!

Nintendo NY Store will host a Zelda U demo for 500 lucky fans to play https://www.gameskinny.com/p746e/nintendo-ny-store-will-host-a-zelda-u-demo-for-500-lucky-fans-to-play https://www.gameskinny.com/p746e/nintendo-ny-store-will-host-a-zelda-u-demo-for-500-lucky-fans-to-play Wed, 25 May 2016 07:17:33 -0400 David Fisher

According to a press release found on Business Wire, 500 fans of The Legend of Zelda will be selected to play the upcoming Wii U title from June 14th to June 19th. These fans will be selected from a pool of entries during a "Super-Fan Signup Day" that is to be held on June 11th of this year. How do you sign up? By standing outside the Nintendo NY Store on June 11th.

"Only the first 500 eligible people in line when Nintendo NY opens at 9 a.m. ET will receive a wristband that they can exchange for a ticket, which guarantees them a spot to play the game during selected times June 14-19. (Fans can start lining up at 7 a.m. ET on June 11. Photo ID is required, and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)

The six-day free event will begin at noon ET on June 14, when fans will be invited to watch gameplay of The Legend of Zelda live-streamed from Nintendo’s booth at this year’s E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles to the 15-foot gaming screen inside Nintendo NY. This will be the world’s first in-depth look at the game. Then at 3 p.m. ET, the first of 500 fans will begin sampling the game for the first time.

From June 15 to June 19, Nintendo experts will also be giving guided game-play demonstrations on the big screen for everyone to watch and enjoy. Several fans may even get the chance to participate in guided demonstrations. There will also be The Legend of Zelda trivia for a chance for fans to win fun prizes."

The Signup Day event will happen at 9 a.m. ET, so if you're in the area and see more than 500 people in line on that day, you're out of luck.

This demo event will take place on the same day as the Nintendo Treehouse: Live event happening at E3, so getting the chance to play the game for yourself at Nintendo NY is a pretty big deal. There will be all sorts of decorations at the Nintendo NY store to celebrate The Legend of Zelda on that day as well, so even if you miss out on the chance to play at least you can take in the sights.

If you plan on getting one of the wristbands, I suggest marking June 11th, 9 a.m. ET on your calendars right now...
