Trying to guess the Snifit mood in Paper Mario: The Origami King? Of course, you are. That's why you're here.

As you play through Paper Mario: The Origami King, you'll eventually come to a spot where you need a suite key to proceed, but where is it? Asking around Shroom City will reveal that key-finder Luigi has been browsing the shops around town, and searching for him will reveal that he has met with a terrible fate.

To free him, get the key, and proceed in the game, you'll need to play a (mostly) rigged Snifit game run by a merchant who tasks you with guessing their Snifit mood. If you go into this section of the game unprepared, you're likely to face a fair amount of frustration, so we're here to help.

How to Guess the Snifit Mood

In the northwest corner of Shroom City, you'll find a merchant's booth decorated with a huge lamp. It's stamped with a familiar-looking green L. Before you proceed and take part in the game, however, you'll need to do two things:

  • Ensure you have over 1,100 coins
  • Save your game

The Snifit game will cost you, at most, 1,100 coins, and if you lose (or refuse to play a second round either by your own choice or due to lack of funds) it'll be game over. It pays to be careful here.

The actual game, however, is fairly straightforward. First, you'll pay the Snifit 100 coins, which will give you three chances at guessing their mood. Of course, since they're wearing a mask, it's impossible to tell what the mood actually is, and the correct answers are mostly randomized.

We recommend picking random answers for these guesses, although there have been reports that players have gotten lucky early by guessing "Sad Sniff" on their second guess. We have not been able to independently verify this, however, and when we tried, we were judged incorrect.

If you haven't guessed correctly by the end of the game, the Snifit game will continue, provided you pony up 1,000 more coins. Again, you must do this, or you'll get an immediate game over.

The first two guesses will proceed in a similar fashion, with randomized correct answers (though we were able to get lucky early by choosing 'Snickering Sniff'). Don't worry though, the Snifit will tip their hand on the third guess. They'll slip up and let out a tiny laugh right before your final guess, meaning their mood is "Snickering Sniff."

Picking that option won't win you the advertised 10,000 coin prize, but it will allow you to free Luigi, collect the suite key. You can use it to proceed (and, for what it's worth, find the infamous NSFW collectible No. 69. Nice.)

Paper Mario: The Origami King Shell Stones Guide Wed, 22 Jul 2020 15:52:58 -0400 RobotsFightingDinosaurs

To get past the first boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King, you'll need to destroy the red streamer. You'll also need to access the temple of the Earth Vellumental and use its power to clear the way to Overlook Tower. Unfortunately, the door to the temple is blocked, and to open it, you'll need to gather four shell stones strewn across Overlook Mountain.

If you're having trouble tracking the shell stones down, not to worry: we're here to help. As a note, though you can track the stones down in any order with the exception of Shell Stone #1, we've organized them in the order they are found as you proceed up the mountain naturally, from bottom to top.

Paper Mario: The Origami King Shell Stones Guide

Shell Stone #1

The first shell stone is pretty hard to miss. As you travel up Overlook Mountain for the first time, you'll be accosted by a mole who is attempting to sell a shell stone to the highest bidder.

You'll probably have a decent hoard at this point, so the initial price of 10,000 coins might not seem all that bad, but don't be afraid to haggle.

If you keep refusing the mole's offer, you can purchase the shell stone for just 300 coins! Just make sure to accept the offer then, or else the surrounding Koopa Troopas will buy it and you'll have to pay them 1,500 coins to get it back.

Shell Stone #2

This shell stone is pretty easy to miss if you don't know exactly where to look. As you approach the save block after crossing the bridge, you'll see a suspicious section of cliff that looks like it's about to peel off. To deal with it, you'll need to check out the nearby papercraft hedges.

One of them will move slightly, and if you investigate it, you'll be ambushed by a Folded Soldier Goomba. Defeat it, and a magic circle will appear near the face of the cliff, which will then allow you to peel off that suspicious section of the wall. Doing so will reveal a dehydrated Dry Bones and, more crucially, the second shell stone.

Shell Stone #3

Is a modern RPG really complete without a fishing minigame? Of course not, and Paper Mario: The Origami King is no exception.

After snagging the second shell stone, continue to the right, but not up the mountain. You'll come to an area with white fencing and a path leading back into the background. Follow it, and you'll find a peaceful pier with a fishing-loving Koopa ready to teach you the fine art of angling.

After the tutorial, take stock of the shadows you see in the water. One should look different from the rest of the Cheep Cheeps. Ensure that you're ready for battle, and aim for that one.

You'll land a Folded-Soldier-ified Cheep Cheep and it'll attack you. Win the fight, and you'll be rewarded with a shell stone. For extra credit, hang around and fish one more time, aiming for the fish that looks different from the rest in order to save a Toad!

Shell Stone #4

Soccer time! Proceed past Overlook Tower to the sports park, where you'll encounter three Paper Macho Shy Guys playing keep-away with the final shell stone. You won't be able to outrun them, so you'll have to resort to cheating. Luckily, there are no red cards in Paper Mario: The Origami King.

Use your hammer to knock down one of the two Paper Macho Shy Guys that are not handling the shell stone, then approach the ball carrier from the other side. Since the Shy Guys will face away from you in order to protect the stone, the ball carrier will pass to the Shy Guy you just knocked down, allowing you to rush in steal the stone before they recover (assuming you're fast enough). Afterwards, make sure to defeat them all to free a few Toads!

You're all done! Now you can make your way over to the pipe by the tower and zip right to the Earth Vellumental Temple to continue your adventure.

Paper Mario Origami King Can Opener Location Mon, 20 Jul 2020 21:35:22 -0400 Josh Broadwell

After you clear the Water Vellumental's temple in Paper Mario Origami King, there's one last hurdle to overcome before you can continue your journey: opening a can of tuna with the can opener.

It's a multi-step puzzle taking you through the Autumn Mountains' areas of long grass and uncovering a few lonely souls along the way. Our Paper Mario Origami King can opener location guide is here to get you through Autumn Mountain and back on the road.

Paper Mario Origami King Can Opener

If you're here because you can't find the Origami King boat captain or you're curious what the Origami King tuna cans are all about, they won't be important until later. The monkey near the cans just runs away from you, and you can't interact with it until you fill the lake with the Water Vellumental's power. But you can't find the Autumn Mountain boat captain until you deal with the monkey.

Here's what to do.

Once you've filled the lake, go over to the dock, and jump into the boat. This is a cutscene you'll have to trigger to move forward. Then head back to the tuna cans. Interact with the monkey to have the cheeky lil' critter chuck a can at you and run off.

That's fine. Just ignore it for now and enter the tall grass.

Paper Mario Origami King Party Guests

Look for the string of white "Z"s floating up, and follow them to find a lonely Spike Guy. He wants to attend a party, and lucky for him, you know where one's about to take place: Friendship Plaza. In case it slipped your mind, Friendship Plaza is where Bobby was hanging out with the sombrero Shy Guy.

Head southeast out of the grass fields, and you'll eventually get to the Plaza.

There's a problem, though. No one has a can opener to open the tuna Spike brought to the party. Back into the grass you go.

This time, stay towards the southern edge and follow the fence. You'll eventually see a big pillar near a clearing (shown above), and there's some shaking grass nearby. Interact with the grass to trigger a fairly easy Wave Battle, and once that's done, interact with the sweat drops you see above the grass.

With still no can opener in hand, go back to Friendship Plaza. There's a Goomba there who forgot its own can opener. So it decides to just use its teeth instead and does the same for your can. Problem solved.

Take your open can of tuna back to the stack of cans, and then smack the monkey with your hammer after the monkey starts eating. No, you aren't a monster. That monkey is the Toad boat captain who can take you away from Autumn Mountain.

Paper Mario Origami King House of Riddles Solution Mon, 20 Jul 2020 16:09:20 -0400 Josh Broadwell

The newest Paper Mario game has plenty of optional bonuses and puzzles hidden away to discover, and the Paper Mario Origami King House of Riddles is one of more useful ones. You'll find the House of Riddles in the Shogun Studios area on your quest to destroy the Blue Streamer.

But how to unlock the House of Riddles and what to do once you're actually in there is a bit of a, well... riddle. Wrack your brains no longer, though. Our Paper Mario Origami King House of Riddles guide will walk you through it.

How to Unlock the Paper Mario Origami King House of Riddles

You can technically find Origami King's House of Riddles early during your time in Shogun Studios. But you can't go inside until you've cleared the Studios and gotten the Chain Chomp Bone. Once all this is done, you'll receive the Master Key that unlocks the House of Riddles.

Whenever you decide to do it, finding the House of Riddles is worth your time because it gives you an extra five points to your HP meter.

Paper Mario Origami King House of Riddles Solution

To access the Paper Mario Origami King House of Riddles, you'll need to deal with a Paper Macho Koopa first. Climb onto the roof near the Photo Studio and follow the path until you find a ladder. Climb it, and strike the bell with your hammer.

This brings the Macho Koopa into the courtyard area. Deal with it the same as all the other Machos: keep away from it when it charges, and smack the back of it with your hammer.

Once that's taken care of, and assuming you have the Master Key, head west. Keep going west past the Save Block near the bridge, and follow the path to the last building on your left. Unlock the door, and head inside.

You'll find the curious sign pictured at the top of this post. It asks whether you can solve the riddle and then has a backwards string of text. That's your main clue for how to solve the riddle.

The House of Riddles solution is making each side of the room a perfect mirror image of the other. You'll do that by interacting with all the objects in the room, including the drawers and cushions.

The chest will unlock once you've finished, and you can grab your prize and skedaddle.
