For those of you who have been closely following any news concerning Star Wars Battlefront, you know that the game will not feature a single-player campaign. At Gamescom 2015, GameSpot took the opportunity to interview Peter Moore on the matter, and he explains in a very simple way why EA chose this path.

"[...] very few people actually play the single-player on these kinds of games. That’s what the data points to."

There is your statement; it's a simple as that. And technically, Peter Moore is not wrong.

Modern day FPS games have been more and more concentrated on multiplayer versions rather than single-player campaign modes. When multiplayer was introduced, it was an added feature - a little something extra that allowed you to play against your friends and shoot out your frustrations. But not anymore.

Solo needs to learn to play with friends

Today, single-player campaigns are much shorter than they once were, and games like Star Wars Battlefront are beginning to abandon them altogether. Multiplayer is getting bigger and better, and it has become the main focus of FPS games these days.

Statistics point out that solo campaigns aren't played as often anymore, and that's not all that surprising, in the end.

However, a different kind of single player mode has been confirmed for Star Wars Battlefront. DICE stated that bots on the map would allow gamers to play Missions by themselves.

Quick reminder - Star Wars Battlefront will be released on November 17th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

EA CEO says Konami and Kojima will "kiss and make up" https://www.gameskinny.com/ab0lh/ea-ceo-says-konami-and-kojima-will-kiss-and-make-up https://www.gameskinny.com/ab0lh/ea-ceo-says-konami-and-kojima-will-kiss-and-make-up Sat, 15 Aug 2015 11:34:21 -0400 Dustin Frisch

There has been a lot of confusion and some controversial things going on between Konami and Kojima this year - particularly in regards to their relationship with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Kojima is expected to leave the company after the release of MGSV, and in the meantime, Konami has removed his name from the marketing materials for the game, and they've also cancelled the Silent Hills game that Kojima was directing as well.

We may never ever know the behind-the-scenes details about what went down between Konami and Kojima. But according to EA's CEO, Peter Moore, this will only be a temporary setback, and we'll be seeing a happy fairy tale ending soon.

"I've always liked Kojima-san. I got on with him during my days at Microsoft. I just think... what's going on there... I just think both of them should kiss and make up."

Moore goes onto say this about his time in Japan:

"From my experience, and I've spent a lot of time working in Japan, I think that Konami and Kojima will figure it out. Those kinds of business relationships [in Japan] are typically for life, and Kojima is such an important part in what has gone on there."

He also speculated about Konami/Kojima's relationship currently.

"Clearly, Kojima and Konami are at a rocky stage in their marriage, but you could take what is said about [Kojima Productions], about a game not adhering to budgets, about a game not being ready, and you could apply that to a lot of people."

"Any game that isn't iterative in nature the way an EA Sports game is, or any series that doesn't ship every single year... those things can go on forever. There needs to be an agreement between the publisher and developer to make sure that both parties understand when the game is supposed to ship, and what it's supposed to be"

"But with regards to Kojima and Konami, they'll kiss and make up."

It looks like only time will tell.

What do you think? Will we see a reconciliation between Kojima and Konami? Or is this split permanent? Let us know in the comments!

Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4, Round 2: Pre-order Numbers https://www.gameskinny.com/gd1pl/xbox-one-vs-playstation-4-round-2-pre-order-numbers https://www.gameskinny.com/gd1pl/xbox-one-vs-playstation-4-round-2-pre-order-numbers Wed, 13 Nov 2013 07:16:13 -0500 Coatedpolecat

As we brush ourselves off after Round 1, tomorrow the PlayStation 4 will launch, and with that many vacation days will be consumed for its release. Expect around 5 million people globally to turn on at some point throughout the day. PlayStation owners everywhere will rejoice because their favorite console is moving forward into the future of gaming. And a week later, the Xbox will release too.

Apples to oranges

Unfortunately, as humans, we like to compare things side by side, and at times make competitions about it. I'm just as guilty here. In this case, our passions for next-generation consoles has brought us to this point. A point of no return... Pre-order numbers.

As I was listening to Rev3Games' Adam Sessler discuss his opinion of the PlayStation's launch, he mentioned he spoke with GameStop's higher up. He mentioned there "may not be available console's to the casual customer," just strolling into the store looking to pick up any next-gen hardware. You might be waiting clear 'til March of 2014.

If this is true, that's great news for the industry as we see possibly one of the biggest launches for both Microsoft and Sony. Peter Moore of EA gave this answer to Inquisitor.com when asked about the pre-orders for both companies:

"When I talked to our friends at both Sony and Microsoft, and I'm trying to get some indications in the numbers that are going to be available for sale by the end of our fiscal year on March 31 and I aggregate them, I think I can squint and see 10 million units combined very easily.  Both Sony and Microsoft are proposing that this could be their best launches ever as regards their production numbers and their ability to globalize this business quickly."

Round 2 results: Draw

So what this tells me, is even though we may want to compare apples to oranges, the one thing they have in common is they play video games, and video games are the reason we care about these consoles.

So let's try to focus on that aspect, not which console is selling better or which has better games, as they seem very similar. Let's simply rejoice that our hobby, our passion, is having one of its best lauch periods in history. Now go forth and play!
