Capcom's Akuma from Street Fighter was announced in December of last year to be a guest character in Tekken 7.

Here is the trailer for the arcade release of Tekken 7: Fated Retribution showing Akuma in all his Ansatsuken glory as he battles Heihachi:

Senior Game Designer Michael Murray revealed to PlayStation LifeStyle,in an interview during Jump Festa, that Akuma will most likely be the only Street Fighter character to cross over to Tekken 7.

Murray continued to say that Game Producer Katsuhiro Harada and himself both don't really like the guest characters because it "throws off the Tekken world and setting." However, Murray also explained that Akuma was a great fit and that there is a chance for more guests in the future.

Murra and Waki also expressed that it is a good time for fighting games with Mortal Kombat X and Street Fighter V bringing attention to the fighting genre giving them a bigger audience.

"For us, it’s kinda tough because we’re still quite arcade-centric, though it’s good because we can continue to test ideas, polish the game and add content before we port it."

The update Fated Retribution has yet to be given a release date but in addition to Akuma, the update will come with some graphical changes, new costumes and more.

Tekken 7 does not have a release date for the US but is in development for the PlayStation 4 in Japan.

Tekken 7 introduces new character Gigas via YouTube https://www.gameskinny.com/6f6ca/tekken-7-introduces-new-character-gigas-via-youtube https://www.gameskinny.com/6f6ca/tekken-7-introduces-new-character-gigas-via-youtube Thu, 06 Aug 2015 11:23:03 -0400 PencilPusha

Tekken 7 is taking forever to come to the United States.

Luckily, there are videos popping up on YouTube that showcase new characters from Tekken 7, which already made some waves at the EVO2015 Evolution Championship Series in Las Vegas, NV, late last month.

One of the leaked videos includes a new character named Gigas. He's big, he's wearing some kind of tight, red spandex suit, he's faceless (unless you count 6 small lights on a facemask as a face) and he has a bunch of black tubes hanging out his shoulders and back. He kind of resembles the old Bane from the Batman series. The tubes suggest that he could've been a science experiment of some kind. The Mishima Zaibatsu's Dr. Boskonovitch is notorious for creating people in a lab.

In Tekken 4, it was revealed that all those strange memories Nina had from Tekken 3 were her faint recollection of the Mishima Zaibatsu scientists performing in-vitro fertilization on her during her cryosleep, thus creating Steve Fox. So it's possible that Gigas is a new creation of the Mishima Zaibatsu's regime.

Was Dr. Boskonovitch linked to that? Probably.

Dr. Boskonovitch also created GunJack and he helps Bryan live a bit longer in Bryan's ending in Tekken 4. Maybe he's not such a bad scientist after all.

Gigas' moves moderately resemble that of GunJack and King, but mixed together. The powerful body slams, the bow-legged, slow, tough guy walk, and the ability to toss and throw enemies overhead are all clear indicators of GunJack and King's battling influences.

Would it be so much to ask for a little originality? Or unless Gigas is a character in disguise...

Although not much has been revealed about Gigas yet, he seems to be a formidable opponent in the game. Hopefully, he wasn't engineered to be a part of Kazuya and Heihachi's ever-present evil schemes in the Tekken spectrum or players will have more challenges to face once the game is released in the U.S.

In the video, Gigas faces off against Dragunov, pounding the guy's head into the ground at one point. Gigas has great power moves and combinations and his body slams are treacherous. Players would best be advised to not get caught between Gigas and a wall or a corner.

A game that was first teased as an April Fool's Day joke is actually being released!

Bandai Namco has started streaming a trailer for its newest smartphone game, Galaga: TEKKEN Edition. The game was first teased as a joke on April 1st, but it seems like the company was actually being serious.

It's been about 20 years since the first Tekken game was released, so it only seems right to create a game specifically to commemorate the anniversary. A crossover between the two games, Galaga: Tekken Edition was released today with some new tweaks and changes. The spaceships and aliens of the original Galaga game were replaced with pixel Tekken characters such as Heihachi Mishima, Lili, and Claudio Serafino. Other characters must be unlocked along the way, some of which will be characters from the most recent game, Tekken 7.

Each character has their own unique shooting style (Heihachi headbutts, Lili has rapid fire, Claudio shoots, etc.), but players can also combine powers of different characters to perform tag team attacks. The enemies of the game are also different from the original Galaga games. Instead of aliens, Heihachi, Lili, Claudio, and co. fight against King and his army of wrestlers, Bob, Ganryu, Jack, Xiaoyu, Panda, and Alisa. The game ends with a final battle against the Mishima family, typical of a Tekken game.

The game was released today, for free, on both the Apple App Store and on the Google Play store.

Early today, a video was posted on AOL that was a leaked IGN announcement trailer for Tekken 7 supposed to have aired this evening during EVO. According to Kotaku's article on the leak the video features Tekken producer and creator Katsuhiro Harada discussing his reasoning for designing the game with the Unreal 4 engine. He cites the engine's ability to "rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it."

Naturally, the video did not remain on AOL long before it was removed, however it has already been reposted to many different video hosting sites around the web. Check it out below:

It has been more than 7 years since the last installment in the Tekken franchise, so naturally this leak is huge news for fans. Unfortunately, besides discussing the engine the game will run on, the leaked video gives no information about a release date or even what platforms Tekken 7 will run on. Even so, the leaked video does provide a sneak peak at the official announcement and ruined a bit of the surprise - if IGN did intend for it to be a surprise at all - for fans.

Namco Bandai and Harada have not commented yet on the leak. Stay tuned to the EVO stream over at IGN  for the official announcement of Tekken 7 this evening.
