Ever since the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were announced as new characters for the fighting game Injustice 2, fans have been enthusiastically waiting for them to arrive. Thanks to a press release from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we know they'll arrive in the game February 13th for owners of the Injustice 2: Ultimate Edition, Ultimate Pack, or Fighter Pack #3. The Turtles will also be available for standalone purchase on February 20th for £11.99 (equivalent to $16.62 USD).

We also got a trailer from NetherRealm Studios showing off gameplay of the Turtles kicking butt. We learned that players will play only as one turtle at a time, while combos will showcase the Turtles teaming up for awesome attacks. Players can decide which Turtle to play as by equipping their corresponding weapon in the Turtle loadout (Sword for Leonardo, Bo Staff for Donatello, Sais for Raphael, and Nunchakus for Michelangelo). Each turtle will have their own moves and powers. It's worth noting that since online play and tournaments don't allow specific loadouts, each Turtle will be available to be picked separately in those modes.

If you haven't checked it out yet, you can get Injustice 2 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Microsoft releases TMNT Mutants in Manhattan trailer early https://www.gameskinny.com/ivao9/microsoft-releases-tmnt-mutants-in-manhattan-trailer-early https://www.gameskinny.com/ivao9/microsoft-releases-tmnt-mutants-in-manhattan-trailer-early Mon, 25 Jan 2016 18:26:14 -0500 BlackTideTV

So much for that TMNT countdown on the Platinum Games website. Microsoft jumped the gun tonight and posted an ASX file containing the "official leak" of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan a little too early. The people of the Internet - tech savvy and impatient as they are - messed around with the file and came up with a low quality version of the upcoming trailer.

The video features the notorious Foot Clan taking over the streets, and appearances by fan favorites Bebop the mutant warthog and Rocksteady the black rhinoceros.

April O'Neil makes a small cameo in the trailer to tell us "just how bad things are", and other character appearances include The Shredder (most likely the final boss), and Armaggon, the mutant shark. Strangely there was no sign of Casey Jones - will he make an appearance?

Gameplay in the upcoming turtle-venture looks mostly hack-and-slash with a lot of combo and special abilities. Teamwork can be used to activate devastating area-of-effect abilities that massacre anyone in the vicinity.

The art style is intriguing from what we can see, falling somewhere between Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions and Borderlands

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is being developed by Platinum Games and Activision and will be available in Summer 2016 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Check out this TMNT NES chassis mod https://www.gameskinny.com/9xx0e/check-out-this-tmnt-nes-chassis-mod https://www.gameskinny.com/9xx0e/check-out-this-tmnt-nes-chassis-mod Thu, 07 Jan 2016 16:44:05 -0500 Damian A. Hinton

There have been quite a few spectacular NES mods over the years, but I think this chassis mod may take the cake. Or rather, take the pizza.

DeviantArt user Zoki 64 has fashioned a rather stunning creation based on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game, a title that many NES owners from that time remember fondly. The original title was released at the arcades in 1989, and was then ported to the NES (as well as other platforms) in 1990.

The modded NES here looks fantastic, as it hearkens back to an earlier period of gaming. It's not the most complex design, but it pays homage to a lot of nostalgia that many have for the old TMNT series from the 80s and 90s.

This isn't Zoki64's first mod either. Perusing his older works brings up several NES mods based on the Super Mario Bros. games, all keeping consistent with the quality of this one.

The modding community has grown a lot over the years. Especially as creators have become able to share their creations with other fans, and those that they typically would be unable to reached otherwise.

I think many of us would be happy if any of those ten legendary vehicles made their way into Rocket League. Sure, there would be licensing issues and design complications, but we can dream!

\n

The Delorean has given us all hope that we may someday see more famous vehicles brought to Rocket League, and the Delorean has proved the gamers will throw money at Psyonix should that occasion arise.

\n

Which car would you most like to see come to Rocket League? I personally am torn between the Batmobile(s) and the Wacky Races contraptions. Let us know which you love the most, and any we may have left off!

1. The Batmobile

\n

But of course, what else were you expecting?

\n

The Batmobile, whatever iteration, is easily the most famous vehicle of all time. It's the most iconic car ever because it's awesome. Even going back to the '60s with the Adam West Batmobile, it's still a really cool looking car.

\n

As was the case with the Wacky Races cars, I would love to see all of the Batmobile iterations come in a pack. I mean, I'm pretty sure a lot of people would pay through the nose to get 5-6 versions of the Dark Knight's ride. I think at least one version of the Batmobile is entirely possible in Rocket League's future, and I for one will be there on day 1 to get my hands on it.

2. The Mystery Machine

\n

And coming in at number 2 on the list is the Mystery Machine. Who else but those meddling kids?! And their dumb dog?!

\n

The Mystery Machine is just about as iconic as it gets, and it has all the makings of a Rocket League vehicle. A nice, practical shape, simple but recognisable paint job, and lots of potential for rocket trails, toppers, and sound effects. This bad-boy could have bats flying out of the tail-pipe, or Scooby Snacks, or just psychedelic flowers!

\n

Honestly, this is one I would not be surprised to see actually show up someday and, as a genuinely huge Scooby Doo fan, I would throw money at Psyonix.

3. Lightning McQueen

\n

Lightning McQueen makes the 3rd spot on the list because of how well he would fit into the Rocket League roster, as well as the fact that it may be possible. Disney is fairly keen on sharing its properties when the circumstances are right, and Psyonix proved with the Delorean that only good can come from the cross-promotion. Also, 2017 will see the release of Cars 3, just sayin'.

\n

Lightning is a really cool-looking car that already has a cartoony art style that would look right at home alongside the other cars in Rocket League. He's sleek, fast, and always smiling, what more could you want?!

"},{"image":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/5/f/f/5ff8eb8501a4b3f84f082b5d09835d4f.jpg","thumb":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/5/f/f/tiny_5ff8eb8501a4b3f84f082b5d09835d4f.jpg","type":"slide","id":"92479","description":"

4. Wacky Races

\n

OK, so this might be cheating. I was going to just choose Dick Dastardly's badass rocket car but I remembered how much fun I had with Wacky Races: Starring Dastardly and Muttley on the PS2, and I realised I wanted them all.

\n

I'm aware how incredibly unlikely this one is but I would pay a stupid amount of money to get a Wacky Races DLC pack that included all of the cars above. Yes, it's another 11 vehicles, the same as the game launched with, but they are all so varied and fun.

\n

I figured the licensing wouldn't be a massive issue considering how old the property is, but it turns out Cartoon Network plans to revive the series in 2016. Who knows, maybe this improves the chances. I just want Wacky Races to collide with Rocket League, maybe then Dastardly and Muttley could actually win!

5. The Party Wagon

\n

You can almost create the Ninja Turtles' Party Wagon in Rocket League - there's a similarly shaped van, which you can make green and yellow, add the slime trail and the pizza hat, and there you have it! That being said, it isn't the real deal.

\n

It would be much more awesome if we could get the real Party Wagon, with shell roof, as seen above, as well as green rims and maybe even weapons attached. Of course, you could just replace the pizza hat with a pizza-slice topper.

"},{"image":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/6/e/6/6e617eb4e3240c08aaca614e5187ec02.jpg","thumb":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/6/e/6/tiny_6e617eb4e3240c08aaca614e5187ec02.jpg","type":"slide","id":"92476","description":"

6. Ecto-1

\n

When the Delorean was revealed, I imagine quite a few people immediately thought about the possibility of the famous Ecto-1, from Ghostbusters, finding its way into the game. Plus given that there is a new movie out next year, the time for Ghostbusters promotion is now!

\n

This car has all the makings of a Rocket League vehicle; it's oddly shaped, colourful, and has already established features. I'm sure the Ecto-1 is numero uno on many gamers wish lists, I mean c'mon, there's already a slime rocket trail!

"},{"image":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/9/f/c/9fc8e21b657a933e198d8bb4a7b842ce.jpg","thumb":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/9/f/c/tiny_9fc8e21b657a933e198d8bb4a7b842ce.jpg","type":"slide","id":"92496","description":"

7. Herbie

\n

Herbie the Love Bug might seem like a surprise, weird addition to this list, but it's a recognisable car and a very possible one. There have been 5 Herbie movies, the most recent being the 2005 reboot with Lindsay Lohan, as well as several TV shows. Sure, you could argue that Herbie hasn't been really relevant since the 1970s - but the car is still iconic.

\n

Herbie is a Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own. The movies were very much a product of their time, although still fun, but that means the rocket trail could be the flowers that already exists in the game, as well as having the music from the movies as the boost noise. Herbie would provide a nice classic (and real-life) vehicle to Rocket League.

"},{"image":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/8/2/8/8281c3ff5e303289065be6b3b7d06a4b.jpg","thumb":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/8/2/8/tiny_8281c3ff5e303289065be6b3b7d06a4b.jpg","type":"slide","id":"92480","description":"

8. Star Wars Landspeeder

\n

As was the case with Optimus Prime, the Star Wars Landspeeder doesn't feature higher on the list because it seems logistically challenging. The Landspeeder flies, which presents a slight challenge to Psyonix; however, it wouldn't have to do much other than hover, as seen in the picture above.

\n

There are many different Landspeeders, including the more recognisable Anakin Skywalker one from The Phantom Menace. Any of them would be a welcome inclusion in the game, as well as offer a very different shape of vehicle. Not to mention, a Landspeeder would have a real nice swooshing sound when moving.

"},{"image":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/c/0/c/c0cf39b3b2e04afe25d6ad1d5a5ecc17.jpg","thumb":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/c/0/c/tiny_c0cf39b3b2e04afe25d6ad1d5a5ecc17.jpg","type":"slide","id":"92495","description":"

9. 007 Aston Martin

\n

The James Bond Aston Martin is an iconic car but the DB5 that Sean Connery sleuthed around in is arguably the most famous. The only reason this beauty doesn't feature higher on the list is because it's a fairly standard-looking vehicle, which many of the rest are not.

\n

The fun thing about the Aston Martin is that it could have an oil slick, nail spreader, or smokescreen rocket trail. And of course, it would have to have the classic James Bond theme song playing when you boost. I don't think I need to say anything more.

"},{"image":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/8/5/f/85f89bdb1bc1041f4591fde6d961b9c8.jpg","thumb":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/8/5/f/tiny_85f89bdb1bc1041f4591fde6d961b9c8.jpg","type":"slide","id":"92491","description":"

10. Optimus Prime

\n

OK, so this one comes in at number 10 simply because I believe it to be fairly impossible. From licensing issues to design complications, Optimus Prime finding his way into Rocket League seems very unlikely. That being said, this would be very near the top of the list if it were feasible.

\n

The biggest challenge in designing the legendary red and blue truck is the transforming. If you were to have Optimus Prime in the game you would want to see him turn into his two-legged gun-wielding form, but where would that fit into a match? There are no match intro/outro scenes, nor are there any goal celebrations. Optimus would be an awesome inclusion in Rocket League but one that I can't figure out, I'll leave that one up to the geniuses over at Psyonix.

"},{"image":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/9/0/d/90d34ee96056068f060d0d40f9108621.JPG","thumb":"http://s3.amazonaws.com/gameskinnyop/9/0/d/tiny_90d34ee96056068f060d0d40f9108621.JPG","type":"slide","id":"92475","description":"

A little less than a month ago marked the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown travelled to in Back to the Future 2. To celebrate the occasion the guys behind Rocket League, Psyonix, gave players the opportunity to buy the famous time-travelling Delorean, and it turned out to be hugely popular.

\n

Ever since Rocket League released back in July, on PS4 (PS Plus) and PC, the game has been a runaway success. The last announced sales figure for Rocket League was 6 million, which put it alongside The Witcher 3. Think about that.

\n

So, it was no surprise that Psyonix could pull some strings and get a famous car like the Delorean. Now, that inclusion opens up the possibility for more cars being added to the already impressive roster. Rocket League had 11 cars available when it launched, but that number has increased to 16, thanks to DLC. New cars will continue to appear in Rocket League, and with a big update planned for December it seems that could be a good time for new additions.

\n

So far, however, the Delorean is the only famous vehicle to be included in the roster. Hopefully, things won't stay that way. There are many awesome movie vehicles that would fit perfectly into Rocket League. Read on and find out which ten would be most suited to join the Delorean.

71.) Dark Souls - Ornstein and Smough
\n

While fighting a single boss in Dark Souls can be extremely challenging, fighting two just might be your worst nightmare. Both Ornstein and Smough have different attack patterns as well as different attacks. This is by far one of the hardest fights in Dark Souls. Might want to practice your tuck-and-roll technique.

72.) Turok - The Mecha T-Rex
\n

What is more scary than a T-Rex? How about a T-Rex that shoots lasers and breathes fire? The original Turok was very hard, but reaching the Mecha T-Rex was a challenge by itself. Hopefully you have plenty of ammo and health, because this dinosaur will chew you up and spit you out.

73.) Streets of Rage - Mr. X
\n

A pretty straight forward fight. Beat the crap out of Mr. X. Well, Mr. X has a boatload of health and sends endless waves of enemies at you. Make sure you don't get in his line of fire. His assault rifle deals a massive amount of damage. Definitely make use of the metal pipe in front of the chair, it can be a life saver.

74.) Double Dragon Neon - Giga Skullmaggedon
\n

Double Dragon Neon is an awesome reboot to the Double Dragon franchise. The boss fights are hard and playing with a friend is always a good time. After defeating Skullmaggedon for the second time, he teleports into outer space. Billy and Jimmy soon chase after him, but are turned into super powered robots. Not only is Giga Skullmaggedon extremely fast, he also hits like a truck. Watch out for his skeleport attack; that can kill you instantly.

\n

Punchout is a hard game that has a massive learning curve. Memorizing each competitors fight patterns is a challenge and a half. But Nintendo saved the best and hardest for last. Mr. Sandman will knock your block off and then some before you can put a dent in his health. All that training has got to pay off, right?

76.) TMNT IV: Turtles In Time - Super Shredder
\n

TMNT IV is by far one of the best TMNT games ever made. Fighting super Shredder is icing on the cake. Not only is getting to him hard enough, but the actual fight is a nightmare. Getting close to him will only result in you getting hurt by his fire aura when he attacks. He only has three attacks: fire, ice, and some green stuff. After you begin to chip away at his insane amount of health, he starts moving and attacking even faster.

77.) Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock - The Beast
\n

I think the latest installment of the Guitar Hero franchise was the strongest and the coolest. Rush's 2112, and Dragonforce? Pretty awesome indeed. But I think the best part of the entire game was fighting The Beast. Megadeth made a song JUST for this fight--how awesome is that!? Not to mention that there are three Megadeth songs total: two to warm up and the third aptly named Sudden Death. The song is at a finger blistering speed, too. Better shake the rust off, here comes a tendon shredder!

78.) Chrono Trigger - Lavos
\n

Lavos was an amazing fight that spanned through time and space. Thinking that the Lavos Shell was Lavos itself until you were prompted to enter the shell--that is when things got serious. A two phase fight that etched itself into the grey matter of my mind. Make sure you have plenty of potions and revives.

79.) Resident Evil 2 - William Birkin
\n

Dr. Birkin definitely has a lot of stamina, seeing as you fight him half a dozen times. Each time he transforms into something more hideous and disgusting, the last two transformations being the most disturbing: a dog-like creature, and a wall of flesh. Let's hope your survival skills are in good shape--because you are going to need all the supplies you can get to defeat this monster.

80.) Super Metroid - Mother Brain
\n

Super Metroid was a terrifying game for me as a child. From Crocomire, to Ridley, Super Metroid was full of epic boss fights. But fighting Mother Brain was the best fight. What started off as an homage to the original Metroid fight turned out to be one of the most intense battles I have ever experienced.

\n

After destroying Mother Brain (or so you thought) she rises up as a monstrous beast of steel and flesh. Mother Brain then promptly decides to kick in Samus's face, until the last metroid shows up and saves Samus, sacrificing itself to get our hero god-like power to finally defeat Mother Brain. Don't forget about the three minute timer after the fight. I hope you have your Nike's on, because you're going to be running for your life.

There have been some really cool, and most epic boss fights in the history of video games. But with there being so many, how do we know which ones are the best? It's all a matter of opinion, with that said this is my list for the 100 best boss fights of all time.

\n

What makes a boss fight the best? Well a number of things; The fight has to be memorable, it can also be epic, or outright insane. A boss fight can be unforgiving in difficultly, or it can be as simple as pressing the A button. Whatever the boss fight is, all that matters is that I enjoyed it in one way or another.

Ahh... nostalgia...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that name represents so many things from my childhood.  I was born in the 80's and grew up on TMNT, Transformers, and GI Joe.  I also like to think about the classic arcades from that era as well. Turtles in Time was one of my favorite quarter munching machines out there.  So many fond memories of the four turtles who happened to get some toxic goo on them, and a rat... of course.

Flash forward to the year 2013 and these same teenage turtles should be well on their way to their mid-thirties, instead are still teenagers. Leonardo, Raphael, Donetello, and Michelangelo have been through a few reboots to say the least.  The current reboot of the series comes from Nickelodeon.  In this generations TMNT, the four of them are still learning their ninja ways from leader Master Splinter.  Red Fly Studios worked on TMNT: Out of the Shadows and it is published by Activision.

Here we go.

Before the release of the game, Red Fly Studios said they were attempting to put those quarter munching machines through a glorious 2013 overhaul for the console (my paraphrasing, not a direct quote).  And in a few ways they did just that... in other ways though, the game teeters on just plain broken.  Throughout the games campaign mode I frequently encountered the issue of not triggering the invisible line to start the next cut scene. Other times a guard would just be standing aimlessly in the corner as if there weren't a giant fight a few feet away from him.

A handful of times I would just run around for a few minutes doing absolutely nothing, because there were no clear indicators as to where to go. During the entire 4th chapter only Leonardo's legs and swords were showing, no arms, no body, no head. Every. Single. Cutscene was a slide show in the style of a comic book.  That may not sound too bad, but when all the cool stuff happens, like explosions and fight scenes are still images, it gets very boring.

Shell Shock!

Now, for all those things it does wrong, the things it does right, it does pretty darn well. To start, you get to choose which of the four turtles you want to play with.  At any time you are able to switch between characters using your directional pad.  Maybe I'm easy to impress, but the idea of using the left D-pad button for Leonardo, right D-pad button for Raphael, down for Donetello, and up for Michelangelo, just seemed very intuitive.  Each turtle has an upgrade tree as well as a upgradable weapon.  The delivery in which it introduces you to these mechanics, or lack there of, doesn't take away from the experience.

My favorite mechanic was Donatello using some type of gravity bracer/gauntlet to lift foes into the air and do one heck of a ground pound.  As for the ability tree, it allows you to become stronger, faster, and more resilient.  It also allows for some pretty cool team finishers you'd often associate with the TMNT.  Such as smashing an enemy between your shells.  The combat system is similar to that of the latest entries from Batman titles.  You are usually swarmed with a good amount of enemies.  There will be a flash of color (different colors for different attacks) before the opponent strikes.  This results in a very fluid counter-based combat.  To give an example of how integrated countering is into the scheme, Raphael's special move is a counter.

Tell me a story old friend.

The story was nothing to write home about, nor was it terrible.  Having some cutscenes would've helped, as I've mentioned.  There are really no spoilers here.  If you've seen anything resembling an action cartoon, mainly the TMNT, this is all too familiar.  April O'Neil, a friend of the turtles, gets captured by Shredder, the long time nemesis of the TMNT.  There were no real high points.  There's a problem, fight a lot, save your friend, and of course before the credits role there's a cliffhanger about Shredder and another mysterious person looming over them... "until next time."

You mean there's... (gulp!) More?!

Aside from the campaign there is a horde mode which is more of just what you came for: combat.  The lack of a story is quite nice if you're in the mood for some good ol' fashioned brawling.  As you progress in the campaign you unlock different levels to play horde mode on.  You also unlock "Donetello's Arcade" while playing the campaign.  The arcade mode is more akin to the 80's arcade style for the map layout and the camera positioning.  I found this mode the most challenging, and with absolutely no major bugs compared to the story campaign.

Should you buy it?

All in all, TMNT: OOTS shouldn't have been the last game offered on the Xbox 360's Summer of Arcade (previously high caliber games like Braid, Limbo, Shadow Complex, and Mark of the Ninja).  The few things it does seem to accomplish were very much enjoyable.  With all the things that are wrong though, it seems impossible to overlook.  The game clearly needed just a bit more time for the developers to polish the game. An update may solve most if not all the problems. $15 seems a bit much for the game (that's the reason for the 5/10 otherwise a cheaper price would bump it to a 6.) $5-$10 sounds about right. Underneath that hard, ugly, scratched up shell, is a great, soft, and squishy, fun turtle game just waiting to come out of it's shell.  Until then though, wait for it to go on sale.
