Nintendo knows a good thing when they see it and this time it's the Mario Party franchise that Nintendo's printing money with. I started with the original Mario Party for the N64 and since then the franchise has built on what made Mario Party fun. Mario Party 10 was shown off at last year's E3 and tries to add a new dimension of game play, the Bowser Party! One player gets to play as Bowser and be the King of the Koopas, trying to take down the Mario Bros.

Nintendo should be very proud of their party game series and by the sale figures, the fans are happy too. The Mario Party series has sold almost 40 million units since the original debuted on the Nintendo 64. Mario Party 10 will add to these sale figures when it releases next month. The Amiibo factor could/should add to the stats with the figures, along with the "potentially exclusive to Walmart" Gold Mario Amiibo being released along the Wii U game. It should be interesting to see what, if any, Game Pad features other than the Amiibo connection Nintendo brings to the game.

Walmart Video Game Trade-In Won't Hurt GameStop: Here's Why https://www.gameskinny.com/hgppk/walmart-video-game-trade-in-wont-hurt-gamestop-heres-why https://www.gameskinny.com/hgppk/walmart-video-game-trade-in-wont-hurt-gamestop-heres-why Mon, 24 Mar 2014 05:31:24 -0400 Xavier's

Beginning on March 26th, retail empire Wal-Mart will expand into dealing with video game trade-ins throughout their stores.

This of course means a person who brings in a used video game can be compensated for it, albeit only store credit and not physical cash. The value of course will fluctuate from old games and new, 35 dollars or even more. As of now, businesses Amazon, Target, Best Buy, GameStop and others also offer video game trade-in programs that offer store credit or cash for video games.

"Gaming continues to be an important business for us and we're actively taking aim at the $2 billion pre-owned video game opportunity,"

-Duncan Mac Naughton, chief marketing officer for Wal-Mart U.S.A.

GameStop shares reportedly down 4.53 percent to $37.95 a share. This entry into the market however, should be nothing but a minor disturbance for the likes of GameStop and its powerful profit margins.

GameStop has a vital card to play in the ongoing war with numerous companies and the used game market: incentives.

With discounts and bonus points galore, gamers are vastly more attracted to the powerful reward catalogues. An ace in the hole surely, GameStop has the advantage of an established program, Power-Up Rewards, that will prove formidable for the likes of Wal-mart.

GameStop has built a loyal customer base.

There is no shortage of consumer support that GameStop has accumulated over the years. People have grown accustomed to and even grown dependent on GameStop therefore will naturally venture to the enterprise for all their gaming fixes.

GameStop Employees Know Games

Employees from GameStop have unprecedented experience with the trade-in business as well as reliable support from a pretty sizeable database. Meanwhile in Wal-Mart land, we have workers who must learn this new trade and dive into the field with unsure tactics and questionable performance.

In the battle of Wal-Mart versus GameStop, we're the real winners.

All in all, this is a brave business attempt by Wal-Mart that is sure to keep GameStop at least on a leash we as the buyers can benefit from. With more completion, there are going to be some inevitable sales, with wicked discounts and more money on our trade-ins. Let's see who will provide the best overall deals with individuals about their used games.

Target Offer - Buy 2 Get 1 PS4 Games at Launch https://www.gameskinny.com/v6bju/target-offer-buy-2-get-1-ps4-games-at-launch https://www.gameskinny.com/v6bju/target-offer-buy-2-get-1-ps4-games-at-launch Wed, 30 Oct 2013 19:56:29 -0400 Courtney Gamache

According to a leaked Target flyer, the retail giant will be promoting  "buy two get one free" on PS4 games when the PS4 launches. If you're one of the many gamers who can't wait for the PS4, you might want to take advantage of this deal, and save a bit of money.

Flyer details

The promotion to "buy two get one free" is only available in-stores at Target, and you will only be able to buy one of each titled game. The three titles must be all different, and the lowest priced game will be free.

Although the advertisement only shows Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, NBA 2K14, Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Battlefield 4, it also states other games available in-store will be included. There is no evidence if other retailers such as Wal-Mart or GameStop will match this offer, and they better work fast to start competing.

This offer is only available from November 10th - 16th.

Gross Scam Tricks Wal-mart into Refunding Over $500 for "New" Games https://www.gameskinny.com/zcx7a/gross-scam-tricks-wal-mart-into-refunding-over-500-for-new-games https://www.gameskinny.com/zcx7a/gross-scam-tricks-wal-mart-into-refunding-over-500-for-new-games Mon, 09 Sep 2013 14:24:22 -0400 Alexa Serrano

Michigan State Police are investigating a claim that has been made by Wal-mart in three different cities—Bay City, Saginaw, and Hastings. According to Mlive.com, these scammers are resealing video game boxes to make them look new and are also vomiting on the receipt—or at least telling Wal-mart employees that it's vomit—in order to get away with their scam.

Apparently the suspect is telling Wal-mart employees that the receipt is not readable because it has been vomited on. The service clerk, however, does not inspect the receipt because s/he does not want to be contaminated by it. Yet, they allowed the suspect to return the video games (Masters Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, NCAA Football 14, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Remember Me) for full price. According to the return receipts, the video game returns were made in two stores on August 21.

The suspect remains unknown; however, the photographs from the incident at Hastings reveal the suspect might be a female and that the suspect to the Bay City and Saginaw store incident might be a male.  The male suspect got away with $529 of return money in one day alone!

Disney's Infinity Starting Strong, Poised to be a Holiday Behemoth https://www.gameskinny.com/qlx10/disneys-infinity-starting-strong-poised-to-be-a-holiday-behemoth https://www.gameskinny.com/qlx10/disneys-infinity-starting-strong-poised-to-be-a-holiday-behemoth Thu, 05 Sep 2013 10:16:36 -0400 Capt. Blockbuster Movies, Lackluster Game Sales

Announced in 2010, the collectible figure video game became the buzz for Disney's new direction for gaming. During the development time for Infinity, the Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) has undergone a lot of changes. The division unfortunately has had only one profitable quarter since the restructuring five years ago. Those 14 negative quarters racked up $1.16b in losses.

Since then, Disney has closed entire divisions--shutting down losing franchises and even closing up the recently acquired LucasArts to stop the losses. Instead, the company offered licenses of its franchises to other developers while other resources went into Infinity. A bold move to direct over $100 million into a singular product.

Reaching for the Skylander

And it's a plan that so far seems to be working.

After being released on August 18th, several retailers (GameStop, Wal-Mart, and Toys R Us) have already reported that they are restocking their shelves with Infinity products to stay ahead of demand. A GameStop store in San Francisco reported that they sold out of Infinity on Launch Day alone.

Toys R Us Chief Merchandising Officer, Richard Barry, has already indicated that some sets, characters and power discs may be hard to come by; even as their stores continue to receive regular shipments. Will this trend continue into the holiday season?

Comparisons will always be made to Activision's Skylander series, which started as part of the Spyro franchise. But, the concept of adding collectible figures to enhance a video game makes for a continual revenue source.

However, unlike the Skylander series, Infinity's Toybox (Sandbox) mode seems to be a big part of its appeal. In this mode, characters from different playsets can be used together in an open-world arena. This play area even has online multi-player support.

To Infinity (and Into the Black)

Even after the product comparisons, restructuring, delays, and a past history of flat sales, these early reports indicate that Disney may have a big hit on their hands this Christmas.

Initial sales numbers have not posted, but for comparison, Skylanders has earned over $1.5 billion and was one of 2012's biggest earners. So Disney's work is cut out for them.

In fact, Activision will be releasing Skylanders: Swap Force in October as direct competition.

The battle of the mini-figures has been joined.
