Table Top: Contender for Dragon Slayer Award for Notable Machinima or Video Series

Tabletop: A strong contender for Dragon Slayer's award for notable Machinima or video series

Every Thursday on Geek and Sundry's YouTube channel, Table Top airs. Wil Wheaton and a notable group of celebrities sit down to play a casual game of Mr. Wheaton's choosing. Guests to appear on his show include Felicia Day (The Guild), Chris Hardwick (The Nerdist), and Morgan Webb (G4TV). Season 1 ran from March 30th, 2012, until February 14th, 2013, and has been rumored to have a disc copy in the works. Season 2 officially kicked off on April 4th, 2013, with Formula D as the game of the week.

The breakdown of the game is as follows. Wil Wheaton introduces the show by explaining the premise of the game, followed by introduction of the guests, and immediately going into gameplay. At the end of the game, which is sometimes broken down into 2 or more episodes, the winner is humorously awarded a temporary prize of a trophy with his/her name taped on with masking tape. The tape is then removed and given to the winner, and the trophy promptly returned for use in the next episode. Afterwards, Wil goes to the losers couch and interviews the guests that have tasted defeat. As he is a player as well, Wil sometimes has the honor of giving himself the prize and rubbing it in the other players' faces.

The show is highlighted by its humor and emphasizes that his guests would be people who you would actually see playing these games. Table Top is one of two shows considered for the Dragon Slayer award in the Geek and Sundry lineup. The other being The Guild. My money is on Table Top, as it is newer and not as commercialized as The Guild.
