The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still inspire and capture the imagination of people from all over the world. Even though a list of New Seven Wonders was published in 2007, it is the list compiled by Herodotus and Callimachus which give avid Minecraft fans some of the greatest challenges in their building "career".

Here are some incredibly detailed and amazing creations by Minecrafters who were touched by the Muses to build some pixelated marvels.

The Great Pyramid of Giza

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only surviving Wonder on the list and is the oldest. It is thought to have been constructed 2580–2560 BC and the tomb of Pharoah Khufu.

This Minecraft creation was made by a group of players called the Stone Titans in Survival and on Hard. It took a host of players, all with specific jobs, to build this 1:1 scale marvel which was finished in February 2013.

Hanging Gardens of Babylon

There is no confirmed location for the magnificent Hanging Gardens of Babylon. One legend suggests that King Nebuchadnezzar II built them for his wife because she missed her homeland in Media (Northwestern Iran in modern day).

This rendition was made by Reddit user lonestarr86 and was done in creative mode. Sadly, there are no stats for its construction. One can only imagine the number of blocks that went in to this!

Statue of Zeus at Olympia

The Statue of Zeus at Olympia was made by Phidias, a Greek sculptor. It was completed in 435 BC but destroyed during the 5th century AD. It was made the sanctuary of Olympia, Greece, and erected in the Temple of Zeus.

There isn't much about the creator of this Minecraft replica apart from they are a player from the Emenbee Realm.

Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

This Greek Temple was built to honor the Goddess Artemis. Before its destruction in 401 AD, the Temple was rebuilt three times. Situated in the area of modern day Selçuk in Turkey, only the foundations remain for those eager to see the site.

PlanetMinecraft.com member biglotrfan built this in November 2014.

Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

Built between 353 and 350 BC, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was the tomb of Mausolus, a Persian governor, and his sister-wife. Its ruins are still visible in Bodrum, Turkey, after it was continually destroyed by earthquakes.

This version was posted on Deviant Art by a user called AustralianAlmonds.

Colossus of Rhodes

The Colossus of Rhodes was a giant statue of the Sun God Helios. It was built to celebrate Rhodes' victory over the ruler of Cyprus when his son led an unsuccessful siege against the Greek city. Before being destroyed by a massive earthquake, the Colossus stood 30m (98 feet) high.

This Minecraft creation was made my PlanetMinecraft user fan2raoul and took 30 hours and a lot of anatomy study to complete.

Lighthouse of Alexandria

Often called the Pharos of Alexandria, the structure was one of the tallest structures of its time period, coming second to the Great Pyramid at Giza. It was built to guide ships through to the harbour at Alexandria shortly after Alexander the Great died.

McMagnanimus built this amazing Minecraft version. It is 91 blocks wide, 107 blocks in length and 153 blocks high. It can be fully explored, all the way to the top.
