Dark Souls II PC Dated, Offers Improved Textures and Frame Rate

Finally, PC gamers have a date to circle on their calendars!

We know Dark Souls II will release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 11. However, up until now, we haven’t had a date for the PC version.

Thankfully, publisher Namco Bandai has finally complied. The PC iteration of the highly anticipated sequel will launch on April 25; the game will be available in a physical format and on Steam. Unsurprisingly, the PC version will boast “increased texture resolution” and an “enhanced frame-rate option,” as the developer confirmed on the game’s Facebook page.

From Software is also quick to remind us that the controls have been “perfectly” adapted to the standard mouse-and-keyboard setup. If you opt to pre-order on Steam, you’ll receive a digital soundtrack and early access to the Black Armor Weapon Set, along with the official Dark Souls II artbook in PDF format and the complete digital comic book. Not too shabby!

We don’t yet have the system requirements, but I assume you’ll need a decent rig to take advantage of all those technical improvements.

You ready to die… a LOT?

This is one of those games that’s going to require a ton of patience and diligence, which is precisely what some gamers crave. In a world where video games seem to be getting easier and easier, the hardcore flock to something like Dark Souls, where death has definite consequences and the challenge is always steep. It ain’t for me but I sure can appreciate the fascination.
