PS4 Sales Will Skyrocket After Sony’s Best-Ever E3 Presentation

If the leaked information is accurate, Sony will blow everyone away at this year's E3, which in turn will generate a PS4 sales spike.

Yesterday, I did a piece saying the Xbox One will inevitably reclaim control of the North American region. I still believe that.

However, I also believe that the PS4 will indeed outsell the Xbox One by a significant margin–assuming worldwide sales–during this generation. Sony will always deliver the games; that’s what they do. And if the recent leaked information is even close to accurate, Sony will dominate E3 with a stellar presentation and PS4 sales will directly benefit.

Packed with titles so many PlayStation fans want to see, this could be the show to end all shows. Not only will we have the expected high-profile AAA games (Uncharted 4The Order: 1886, etc.), we’ll also get new IPs and even long-awaited sequels.

Again, just to clarify, this is all assuming the leaked details can be relied upon.

Sony’s biggest and best studios take the stage?

Looks like it. It seems Media Molecule (LittleBigPlanetTearaway) is working with Sony’s new virtual reality initiative, Project Morpheus, and the results could be astounding. Let’s not forget that this team helped drive PS3 sales last generation with wonderfully creative and innovative LBP installments. Those titles were some of the highest-rated and most respected of the past decade and to date, MM arguably has produced the best Vita offering yet.

Then you’ve got Sony Santa Monica and the possible teaser of a new God of War. We heard that we may receive a PS4 port of last year’s God of War: Ascension but a new entry would raise a lot more eyebrows. And talk about highly rated: With the exception of Ascension, GoW is one of the best-received franchises in the history of video games. Every new installment has helped spur hardware sales.

Guerrilla working on a new IP that’s actually a role-playing gameThat I want to see. I love me some Killzone but Shadow Fall fell a little shy of expectations and to be honest, I’ve always wanted to see what that talented team can do outside the FPS genre. They might stick to what they’re comfortable with, and that could mean an RPG like Bioshock or something… How awesome would that be?

A possible Heavenly Sword sequel from developer Ninja Theory? How long have the fans been wanting that? Oh, since the original launched back in 2007. A sequel would make the crowd at E3 go absolutely nuts, I promise you that.

Quantic Dream’s The Dark Sorcerer may make another appearance, too, and just a glimpse of that hugely promising game will go over very well with the audience.

Exclusives and new IPs everywhere!

To the previous list, add the new UnchartedGran Turismo 6 on PS4 (another port we don’t really need, but whatever), and The Order: 1886. Then there’s the following:

There’s talk of a Syphon Filter reboot of sorts, associated with the “Kill Strain” IP we’ve heard about before. Those who have been PlayStation fans since the beginning remember Syphon Filter; it was always in the shadow of Metal Gear Solid, but several of those games were fantastic. Fans have been waiting for another great installment for quite a while and if it comes exclusively to the PS4, well, that’ll be just plain sweet.

Wipeout may return as well. It’s another PlayStation-exclusive franchise that has always been revered and respected.

Sony London? Sony Japan? These are studios that have delivered more than a few top-tier productions over the years, and it’s great to hear them working on multiple projects for the PS4. This will help round out the heavy hitters in the show; we’ll get both high-end, big-budget blockbusters and the wonderfully artistic, highly creative, decidedly original digital titles that have been synonymous with PlayStation.

If all this is at the show (plus more), it’ll deliver one resounding message: YOU WANT THE PS4 FOR THE FUTURE

Granted, many of the games shown off at Sony’s E3 may not launch this year. That’s really nothing new, though, and it’s important to show what’s coming. Between June and August, not much is coming out and right now, aside from Driveclub, the PS4 doesn’t have a single huge exclusive on tap for the holidays. That will likely change after E3 but more importantly, the presentation will paint a glorious picture of the future. That picture says very clearly, “You need a PS4 going forward.”

I have no idea what Microsoft can do to equal such a show but if the leaked info is accurate, MS has an uphill battle.
