50 Games Everyone Should Play: 40 – 31

50 Games Everyone Should Play, Numbers 40 - 31

As time goes on, I have noticed that there is a growing number of gamer's out there who have missed out on some truly amazing gaming experiences. Although some old games are getting HD remakes and ports to current and new-gen consoles, there are still plenty of games being left in the sands of time. I highly suggest you play these 50 games anyway you can.

40.) Rock Band 3

Developed by Harmonix and published by MTV Games and Mad Catz

Why should you play it?

The rise and fall of the rhythm game genre happened over a course of five years, a blink of an eye in the history of video games. I would suggest Guitar Hero, or the original Rock Band, but I feel that Rock Band 3 offers the best experience for the rhythm genre. Over 3000 songs in DLC, a full band with a keyboardist, and even helpful tools for learning to play an actual instrument.

It was originally released on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii back in 2010. So far there have only been rumors of another Rock Band for new-gen consoles.

39.) Kingdom Hearts

Developed and published by Squaresoft (Now Square Enix)

Why should you play it?

Kingdom Hearts is a collaboration between Squaresoft and Disney, an unlikely combination that turned out to be a smash hit. With an all-star ensemble cast from Disney and Squaresoft alike, and an amazing story, Kingdom Hearts is a fantastic hack-and-slash RPG that no one should miss out on.

Originally released on the PS2 back in 2002, there has since been an HD remake for the PS3.

38.) Burnout 2: Point Of Impact

Developed by Criterion Games and published by Acclaim Entertainment.

Why should you play it?

Burnout 2 was one of the best arcade racing games of its time. Featuring high speed races with a great selection of cars and game modes, including my favorite - the crash mode. With most racing games now being more realistic, Burnout 2 is a breath of fresh air for anyone who just wants to go fast and have fun. Plus Burnout 2 featured one of my all time favorite cars, the 1932 Ford Coupe.

Originally released on the PS2 back in 2002, since then there has been a director's cut version released on GameCube and Xbox.

37.) Resident Evil 4

Developed and published by Capcom.

Why should you play it?

Resident Evil 4 was a game-changer in the Resident Evil franchise, with the first three games being traditional survival horror, with fixed camera angles and a certain amount of enemies. Resident Evil 4 brought the franchise to a new perspective, with the over-the-shoulder camera, as well as smarter zombies and a new level of intensity.

Originally released on the GameCube and PS2 back in 2005, since then it has been released on PC, Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.

36.) Twisted Metal: Black

Developed by Incognito Entertainment and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Why should you play it?

The vehicle combat genre is a very rare genre in the world of video games. Very few games have accomplished what the Twisted Metal franchise has done. Twisted Metal: Black featured some of the best storylines for its characters, as well as amazing game play and a killer soundtrack. Mr. Grimm is still my all-time favorite character.

Originally released on the PS2 back in 2001, since then it has been ported to the PS3.

35.) Silent Hill 2

Developed and published by Konami.

Why should you play it?

Silent Hill 2 is by far one of the most terrifying and disturbing installments in the franchise. Featuring excellent enemy designs that will guarantee to send chills down your spine, and a truly amazing story that will mess with your head. All things in Silent Hill 2 are metaphorical and represent an aspect of the main character's thoughts, emotions and sins.

Originally released on PS2 back in 2001, since then it has been ported to Xbox and PC. There is an HD Collection that was released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2012, which includes Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3.

34.) Shadow of The Colossus

Developed by Team Ico and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Why should you play it?

Shadow of The Colossus is a perfect example of excellent gameplay and passive storytelling. Featuring some jaw-dropping fights with skyscraper-like enemies, and truly breathtaking environments. Do not let this amazing experience pass you by.

Originally released back in 2005 on the PS2, since then it has been ported to the PS3.

33.) The Mark of Kri

Developed and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Why should you play it?

If you enjoy a good stealth game, then The Mark of Kri is the game for you. Featuring some of the most swift and brutal silent takedowns for the PS2, and a unique combat system that made you feel like a boss. The art style in The Mark of Kri is phenomenal, and has some really good graphics for its time.

Originally released on the PS2 back in 2002, since then it has been made available on the PSN.

32.) Street Fighter II

Developed and published by Capcom.

Why should you play it?

Street Fighter II had everything great about the first installment, but it also added on to the greatness with more characters, tighter controls, and even more combos. If you are a fan of fighting games, then you owe it to yourself to try out one of the greats.

Originally released as an arcade cabinet back in 1991, since then it has been ported to SNES, PC, PS1, PS2, Xbox and PSP. A HD remake has been made available on XBLA and PSN.

31.) The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

Developed and published by Nintendo

Why should you play it?

The first truly epic Legend of Zelda experience was A Link to the Past, and it is widely considered one of the greatest video games of all time. A Link to the Past has an amazing story that made Link travel between Hyrule and the Dark World, as well as a fantastic soundtrack and awesome game play. A prequel to the original Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past will not disappoint.

Originally released on the SNES back in 1991, since then it has been ported to the Game Boy Advance, and is available on the Wii and Wii U virtual console.
