The Might of Ascalon
I'm an avid League of Legends player. One of my favourite champions to play is by far Garen. Garen, the Might of Demacia. When I moved to GW2, the first classes I test ran were Warrior & Guardian and they've both been my favourite up until now. When Garen was reworked by Riot Games, I figured, why not pay some homage to the champion I adore? Furthermore, I changed it up a lot, paying homage to Ascalon as well.
My initial ideas began with the full human cultural set (T3) and I built from there. I already had most of the set; boots, shoulderpads, helmet and gloves, so building from there wasn't particularly hard for me. I considered the cultural chest and legs but the more I stared at Garen's new look, the more I played him, I couldn't help but notice that his leggings were more clothlike than the bulkiness T3 provided. The Cultural T3 chest piece just made my character feel too fat.
Instead I opted for the two Vigil pieces, the leggings offering me a sleeker, clothlike feel and the chestpiece much slimmer, giving me the scarf around the neck as well. I had considered using the Dark pauldrons instead of the T3, but the dye channels didn't match, and on top, it didn't give the bulky feel I felt when using the Cultural.
The grey (Burnished Steel) is a color I've been incredibly fond of for a while now. It brings out an immense amount of detail in Heavy armours. Sand was chosen over Gold because I find that Gold is a strong colour for metal, and I personally prefer a more faded, used colour. Sand was what came up. Sapphire was originally a colour I used as a house colour for my character's noble house and it stuck as it matches the deep blue of Garen's armour as well.
This armour definitely embraces Ascalonian Justice.
