Zelda: Twilight Princess could be heading to Wii U

Rumour: Twilight Princess could be getting the HD treatment?

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess could be making the leap to Wii U. It's all speculation at the moment, but there's been a very important icon spotted on the Wii U eShop. Thanks to Nintendo gamers zhuowei and NWPlayer123 who reported the news.

The icon found is the artwork below, anyone who's any sort of Zelda fan will recognise it immediately from the 2006 Gamecube/Wii gem.

Could this be a hint of what's to come? Perhaps a Zelda HD remake? It could just be that it's making its way onto the eShop as a straight port or it could end up to be a lot of nothing. Wind Waker has already had the HD treatment for Wii U, reportedly only taking six months to complete. A later game in the series shouldn't be too difficult, either.

Personally, Twilight Princess is one of my favorite games from the series and it tells quite a dark tale - not as dark as Majora's Mask, but it's up there. You are burdened with the task of restoring light to Hyrule, the twilight realm has been overshadowed by the insane Zant. Fan-favorite Midna is the cheeky little companion on this journey.

It's a great Zelda title and for the younger fans of the series that may not have played it, an HD remake would be in perfect order! For now we will just have to sit tight and see if anything comes of the rumor.

I'd be all for it if I had a Wii U. I did play it on my GCN years ago when it first launched in the USA.

I see what you mean, but you could say that about the other Wii games they've released for the eShop? There's no reason for any of them to be there if you have a boxed copy of the game but some people may have missed when they came around and it can just be convenient to whizz onto the shop and buy digitally. Twilight Princess did come out for the GC as well, they made very limited copies of the game though so it's quite rare these days :)

Just gonna go ahead and burst everyone's bubble here. Twilight Princess being a Wii game means you can just put the original game into your Wii U. There is absolutely no reason to launch a new version other than money grubbing.

Well Zelda Wii U is still on the horizon for next year, I know there's speculation on whether it will go over to the NX now but fingers crossed it doesn't. I wouldn't put the nail in the coffin for Wii U just yet! Haha. Yes David there is plenty of Wii games on the eShop now that's why it's all speculation at the moment, could end up being just that!

An HD edition would be nice but I wouldn't count on it. Couldn't hurt their sales though. WiiU needs more Zelda seeing as it never got a dedicated Zelda game.

I'd hate to burst bubbles, but this is likely a Gamecube/Wii port. Remember how the Wii U has a Wii emulator now? It might be the Wii port coming to VC. I mean, that's what they did with Metroid Prime: Trilogy after all.

twilight Princess was a Wii not game not a Gamecube game, meaning it's already playable on Wii U

This is exciting! I've been looking for an excuse to play Twilight Princess again. Looks like Nintendo's giving me a reason to.
