Nickelodeon's The Legend of Korra Headed for the Game Screen

From Nickelodeon show to gamers the world over, The Legend of Korra has been announced for this fall.

The Legend of Korra is making the transition from animated show to video game. Nickelodeon partnered with Activision Publishing to publish the new game. Platinum Games is in charge of developing the game due out this fall. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows for digital download.

With the ability to bend the four elements (fire, wind, earth, and air), players take on the role of Korra, a reincarnation of the Avatar, set 70 years after the series end of Avatar: The Last Airbender featuring Aang. Showcasing original content, the game takes place between Books Two and Three of the television series. The television show begins airing Book Three tonight (June 27th).

About The Legend of Korra Game

With martial arts mastery and bender abilities, the game will be a brawler filled with action. Korra's companion, a polar bear-dog named Naga, will be joining the main character for traveling. The game also has a multiplayer option where teams fight for territory in arenas in the new competitive sport the company is calling Pro-Bending.

A retail-only option for the Nintendo 3DS, developed by Webfoot Technologies, is also releasing. This version, however, will be single-player and is a turn-based strategy RPG.

The cover art for the new game is still under discussion. The companies are allowing their Facebook fans to vote for the cover they most want to see. Simply "like" their Facebook page and vote. It's just that simple. Here are the three options:

Loved the original Avatar series. Brilliant writing and art style. I've only seen some Korra episodes but enjoyed them a lot. I'm not a big fan of the Avatar universe becoming more steampunkish, but it's a cool universe otherwise and Korra is a great character.

She's also a perfect example of making a main female protagonist that's sympathetic, but adept and admirable. I like that she looks strong and capable but still feminine. They don't go to any extremes to make a 'strong female character' of her. She just is a strong personality. I was happy that my sons, who really dug the original also like this series. The fact that the main character is a young woman isn't an issue for them.

That's really awesome to hear. I haven't seen any of the Legend of Korra series yet but when I heard about it, I did some research into it. I think my girls would love it. They loved the original series.

This looks similar to Naruto Shippuden, is the game made by the same developer? (first time that came to my mind seeing the art style)

Naruto Shippuden is developed by CyberConnect 2 instead of Platinum Games. But they are similar in looks.
