Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Signups Will Soon Open

FFXIV ARR's beta will soon be open, so get your moogles and prepare to adventure once again.

After their original lukewarm release of XIV (which was fixed, admittedly, in later patches), Square Enix is ready to try it again with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Soon, although no dates have been specifically stated, the beta will start the first of its four phases.

The Four Phases of Light

The first and the second phase of this beta test will, unfortunately, leave out the PS3 fanbase and only include the PC userbase. However, after that, FFXIV will finally make its way onto the PS3.

After the third phase, the characters made during the previous phases will be deleted in preparation for the fourth phase. Characters made during the fourth phase will be allowed to stay on even when the game goes official.

All in all, I’m pretty excited to make a Lalafell (Tarutaru for you XI fans) yet again. I got the collector’s edition for the game and played for a little bit, but didn’t stick around. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has rekindled my interest, though, and I will be signing up for the beta test. The details are given here.
