Interactive Fiction Competition, IfComp is underway!

As of today the Interactive Fiction Competition, IfComp is now accepting entries through September 1st. This annual event started in 1995. The goal of the competition is to encourage the creation of interactive fiction and to start a dialogue with its audience.

Well-known winners include Floatpoint by Emily Short, Violet by Jeremy Freese, and Lost Pig by Admiral Jota

Authors of interactive fiction must register with the intent to submit by September 1st and entries must be submitted by September 28th.

Since the competition’s start, IFComp has welcomed different kinds of interactive fiction, from Parser IF games to Choice-based. The only aspect of the competition that hasn’t changed is that games must be text-based.

As of October 1st, all the games will be released to the public and judging will commence.

Competition authors are excluded from judging entries, however, judging is open to anyone who registers on the site. Works are judged on a 1 to 10 scale based on the first two hours of play time.
